Looks like this is either a smokescreen to remove Miami as a potential suitor or reality. Either way it doesn't bode well for Miami's chances.

Or he tears it up. Maybe its just supa smoke screen.
Idk anymore man, i'm kinda torn. I'm pro GJ but started to shift a bit towards MW due to the hype (and possibly reality), but I don't know if I want him THAT much. If we were able to snatch MW for a somewhat fair amount, I really don't see us regretting it. But now 13+ is being thrown around? :confused2: -

jeez 13 mil a year you can draft a wr at 12 in the draft for 4 years for only 10 mil total

I had been of the mind that we should grab Jennings for less money on a short deal and draft a speedy guy to learn under him. The last couple of days I have been moved more to the Mike Wallace camp. Now, if it's going to cost 13Mil or more to land him, we need to walk away. Way too much for this guy - Hell I wasn't real happy at 11-12 mil.

If we were okay with ponying up 10-11 million a year for Wallace, then I don't think we should get angry if it costs us 13 million instead. If you're going to pay the 10-11 million, then you believe that he's a playmaker that can take your offense to the next level. If that's the case whether it's 10-11 or 13 doesn't really matter as much as how it's structured w.r.t guaranteed money and how much is backloaded into final years of the contract.

I sincerely want everyone to keep it together this year. Last offseason was horrible.finyank13 and Tin Indian like this. -
We've seen this movie before. We know how it ends. It goes something like this: High profile Free Agent visits Miami. Free Agent loves the team. Signing is imminent. Fan base is excited. Free Agent leaves. Free Agent leverages Miami to score a better deal elsewhere. Fan base is demoralized.
In the case of Wallace, I really hope that isn't what happens. Not necessarily because I want him (I actually prefer other players at his position), but because this front office desperately needs a "win," and Wallace going to Minnesota isn't a win in any sense of the term. Now - it is silly season. It's entirely possible that someone in Wallace's camp is using the Percy Harvin trade from yesterday in an attempt to leverage a bigger paycheck out of Miami. There may not actually be any interest from Minnesota and this is all a big smokescreen.
If, however, the interest from Minnesota is real, and we let him go to the Vikings, Ireland and company should prepare for quite a bit of backlash, just based on how they've handled the signing thus far. But, to me anyway, this has all the makings of Calvin Pace / Ryan Clark Part III. -
God I hope the Vikings sign him therefore forcing the dolphins to trade for Cruz.

reading steelers forums about the topic isn't helping his case much, although I take it with a grain of salt, its comparable to our SS24 situation

Unless that corner from Bama is around I don't know that I wouldn't look to trade back a spot or two and get some more picks. Not a draft that is top heavy in talent.

Did anyone else catch this? Why are the Dolphins floating the theory that the Vikings are going to get involved??
This sounds like a clumsy attempt to manage expectations and prepare the fan base for Wallace to sign somewhere else, at least to me. Perhaps (and this is just me speculating) we offered 11 mil a year and he wants 13 mil a year and we aren't blinking.
Still I'm not sure why the Dolphins are basically begging the Vikings to get involved. It's weird. -
If Miami leaked this, it indicates to me that they are either not interested or not willing to pay the dollars needed to land him. And that is perfectly fine. All this media drivel and speculation really hurts Ireland and the organization, especially if they never really had a strong interest in him. I can just imagine all the sports radio loudmouths and idiots spewing off on how we failed FA and that we need to boycott the team for not landing Wallace or trading for Boldin. -
How do we know its the Dolphins floating this Idea and not Wallace's agent?

I would take Marshall's skill set over Wallace but not with the head issues.

Pfft! After Marshall started dropping everything in his hands I didn't have much use for the guy.

That is about as much as we could ask from a FA period and it would be upgrades compared to what we had in 2012.
And imo, Cb and part time De is a luxury, RT may be as well. -
I dunno I think the only wr better at what Marshall does is Dez Bryant
