Phillip Rivers?

Why would Rivers--38 years old--want to come to Miami, in what is obviously a bridge role on a team that is in the middle of a complete rebuild? He's in the twilight of his career. He's going to go somewhere that offers him a chance to win now, such as Indianapolis or Tampa Bay. I'm not even sure Rivers makes Miami more competitive than Fitzpatrick. If we're looking at 2019 results, Fitz is better at this stage in their respective careers.

Besides, isn't having Fitzpatrick + Rivers redundant?

I don't think Indi or Tampa are all that much further ahead of us at this point. They both are a bit older with their young teams but the end of last year showed this team is competitive and getting better. I'd give the nod to Tampa of the two.

Rivers moved to Fla, Dolphins compete with Tampa there.

Fitz and Rivers would be redundant, Rivers and Fitz would not, and as I said if there can be only one, thanks for the memories Fitz.
Rivers makes all 3 of these teams more competitive.

The draft can't get here soon enough.

Indy has a good O line. If they can afford him he should consider them.

Tampa is a playoff team if their QB doesnt throw like 3 INT a game.

Indianapolis may not be that far ahead talent wise but that division is pretty bad objectively.

You could say ours is bad but I expect the Pats and Bills to remain solid even if they arent dominant.

Rivers is DONE. No thanks. Go look after your child army Phil.

At this point in his career, Fitz is better than Rivers. Let that set in.

Don't get caught up in a name, the NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" league. Just think about this, the Chargers are letting one of the best players in team history walk. Why? Because they know he is done. This is a major tell.

Not to derail the thread, but I doubt its going much of anywhere anyways. I would much, much rather go with Rosen than any of the QBs in this year's class.

Again, if the coaching staff feels that way, nothing I can do but hope for the best. But he showed nothing to me that would warrant him sniffing a backup role, let alone starter and passing over high-end QB talent.

That said, I'd probably give him a shot over Rivers lol.

Most overrated qb of all time..Phillip rivers..

Rivers to Miami makes sense in my opinion....He strikes me as a guy that is more concerned with his family and where their location will be as opposed to winning. Sure....Indianapolis has a better team that is in a better position to compete, but who the hell (with ten kids) wants to live in Indianapolis when they don't have to? Why would Phillip Rivers move his colossal sized family there? Miami is certainly a better location unless you just like...Ya know....Indianapolis.
Given his financial bracket, he can afford to give his family the best life possible in a place like South Florida as opposed to Indianapolis. I think for Rivers personally...this works. I don't think his legacy is as important to him as it may have been ten years ago. We all know he's a competitive player, he acts a lot like Dan Marino used to at times. But I see a guy like Phillip Rivers (No I don't know him) taking a different route with his career. I don't think he'll chase a Super Bowl. I think he'd be more content to spend the final 1-2 years he has left playing the game he loves in a beautiful area with a content family. So that's why I see Rivers as a fit here. We'd have a very charismatic duo between him and Fitz, and what rookie wouldn't want to study under both of those guys? That would be a perfect situation. Call me crazy, but i'd say yes to Phillip Rivers in Miami.

Yeah, because I follow the Dolphins and spend my hard earned money on Dolphins merch just to be happy and content in the knowledge that some washed-up QB at the end of his career can come and go through the motions to enable his family to get a 365 day a year tan.

I really think Rivers has some game left in him. If you heard his presser when he left the Chargers he let everyone know he was Bretty Farveing the hell out of last season. I love Rivers as a competitor but he’s done. At best he needs to go to a team that he’s got a tremendous amount of help. Like New England if Brady actually walks. Or maybe Dallas if Dak walks. At best there’s 1 more year but he made wayyyy too many careless throws last year.

Here's the thing, you twisted my words and then picked out the parts you liked to support your dullard "get off my lawn" old man rant. Nobody said anything about getting a tan, you did. Nobody said anything about his wife looking great, you did. You created those things in your mind. Either that or reading comprehension just isn't your thing. :confused2:
I simply stated WHY he would want to come here. Not why I would want him to sign here, certainly not why Stephen Ross or anyone in charge would want him to either. The simplicity came down to Indianapolis (which has been mentioned) and Miami (which was also mentioned). Given their geographical locations, climates, and overall vibe, I simply was imagining that Miami would be the better choice if Rivers in fact had one. Then I explained potentially WHY Miami would be the choice. His family being probably the most important thing to him and keeping wifey happy....Well....I'll throw a dart and just guess that Miami would be the preference given the actual fact that they would be relocating from San Diego. So again....Just taking a simple stab at why Miami would make just a tad bit of sense for a player like Phillip Rivers. Sorry if it upset you:bag: I hope you have a wonderful day.

I definitely don't think Ryan Fitzpatrick is a better quarterback then Phillip Rivers. I don't think Brady really played any better either. I also don't think Rivers is done just yet. I think things got bad in LA last year, the team was losing, and he had finally had enough. On a new roster, with new players, and more talent, less commuting, less distraction, he might have a resurgence type of season like Kurt Warner did with Arizona back in the day. It's not out of the realm of possibility that some team catches lightening in a bottle with him for a year or two. That team probably isn't going to be us, but I am a big fan of his and I will certainly be rooting for him wherever he ends up...As long as it's not in New England or New York with the Jets.

Rivers to Miami is the worst idea I have ever heard.
