I'll be the first to throw it out there. First I've heard anyhow. Sign Rivers. Keep Fitz. Bye Rosen.
Rivers can play for a home team for 3 years 60-65 millish 25 guaranteed, team option 3rd year. Fitz can start working on his next life as a QB coach and start grooming___insert Dolphins 1st round QB pick here___for his new job in 2022 while backing Rivers up. Or not. If I have to/get to pick, love Fitz, but Rivers please
That lets the Dolphins get competitive quickly while building the team for success when the rookie should be primed. They can absolutely afford Rivers and Fitz. Especially if they throw in free day care.

Why would Rivers--38 years old--want to come to Miami, in what is obviously a bridge role on a team that is in the middle of a complete rebuild? He's in the twilight of his career. He's going to go somewhere that offers him a chance to win now, such as Indianapolis or Tampa Bay. I'm not even sure Rivers makes Miami more competitive than Fitzpatrick. If we're looking at 2019 results, Fitz is better at this stage in their respective careers.
Besides, isn't having Fitzpatrick + Rivers redundant? -

Rivers moved to Fla, Dolphins compete with Tampa there.
Fitz and Rivers would be redundant, Rivers and Fitz would not, and as I said if there can be only one, thanks for the memories Fitz.
Rivers makes all 3 of these teams more competitive. -

Indianapolis may not be that far ahead talent wise but that division is pretty bad objectively.
You could say ours is bad but I expect the Pats and Bills to remain solid even if they arent dominant.Puka-head likes this. -
Rivers is DONE. No thanks. Go look after your child army Phil.

At this point in his career, Fitz is better than Rivers. Let that set in.
Don't get caught up in a name, the NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" league. Just think about this, the Chargers are letting one of the best players in team history walk. Why? Because they know he is done. This is a major tell. -
Nope. Keep Rosen. Start Rosen. Sign Free Agents and draft around him.

Rivers to Miami makes sense in my opinion....He strikes me as a guy that is more concerned with his family and where their location will be as opposed to winning. Sure....Indianapolis has a better team that is in a better position to compete, but who the hell (with ten kids) wants to live in Indianapolis when they don't have to? Why would Phillip Rivers move his colossal sized family there? Miami is certainly a better location unless you just like...Ya know....Indianapolis.
Given his financial bracket, he can afford to give his family the best life possible in a place like South Florida as opposed to Indianapolis. I think for Rivers personally...this works. I don't think his legacy is as important to him as it may have been ten years ago. We all know he's a competitive player, he acts a lot like Dan Marino used to at times. But I see a guy like Phillip Rivers (No I don't know him) taking a different route with his career. I don't think he'll chase a Super Bowl. I think he'd be more content to spend the final 1-2 years he has left playing the game he loves in a beautiful area with a content family. So that's why I see Rivers as a fit here. We'd have a very charismatic duo between him and Fitz, and what rookie wouldn't want to study under both of those guys? That would be a perfect situation. Call me crazy, but i'd say yes to Phillip Rivers in Miami.Puka-head likes this. -
'Gah, Rivers has just thrown his 4th interception before half time - no matter, look how radiant Tiff and the kids look in the private box. It just makes it all so worthwhile...'
I'd rather have Tannehill back than bring Rivers in. There, I said it!Wilkimania, M1NDCRlME and djphinfan like this. -

Does anyone here think Brady is any better than Rivers at this point? Rivers looked better last year as bad as it was. Fitz better than Rivers? Subjective at best, I'll leave it to the stat nerds to use the numbers to argue but I go by what I see. Out of those three, I'm taking Rivers. Under my scenario you get 2 of the 3 and a top pick. Bad how???
But you right. No real chance of this being a serious thread. Kinda was hoping it would just help drive that stupid Titan QB thread off the front page. -
I love Rivers as a competitor but he’s done. At best he needs to go to a team that he’s got a tremendous amount of help. Like New England if Brady actually walks. Or maybe Dallas if Dak walks. At best there’s 1 more year but he made wayyyy too many careless throws last year.

Here's the thing, you twisted my words and then picked out the parts you liked to support your dullard "get off my lawn" old man rant. Nobody said anything about getting a tan, you did. Nobody said anything about his wife looking great, you did. You created those things in your mind. Either that or reading comprehension just isn't your thing. :confused2:
I simply stated WHY he would want to come here. Not why I would want him to sign here, certainly not why Stephen Ross or anyone in charge would want him to either. The simplicity came down to Indianapolis (which has been mentioned) and Miami (which was also mentioned). Given their geographical locations, climates, and overall vibe, I simply was imagining that Miami would be the better choice if Rivers in fact had one. Then I explained potentially WHY Miami would be the choice. His family being probably the most important thing to him and keeping wifey happy....Well....I'll throw a dart and just guess that Miami would be the preference given the actual fact that they would be relocating from San Diego. So again....Just taking a simple stab at why Miami would make just a tad bit of sense for a player like Phillip Rivers. Sorry if it upset you:bag: I hope you have a wonderful day.Last edited: Mar 14, 2020 -

How expensive is Uber expensive?
Has he made a contract demand yet? Do you have any idea whatsoever what he would demand contract wise from the Dolphins or anyone else?
Why wouldn't a "rebuilding team" be looking for veteran leadership while the future is learning his trade? Especially if said veteran knows thats his role.
Tell me again how much worse of a decision giving a 2-3 year contract to Rivers is than any other decision this team has made IRT the QB position since 13 retired. I'm all ears. -

We do not need to sign Rivers... If the experienced Veteran to help a team rebuild is your argument... We have that in Fitzmagic. He is cheaper and he was the team MVP last season.
Please come up with another reason why we need Rivers.AGuyNamedAlex likes this. -

Rivers>Fitzmajic.
We don't NEED Rivers or Fitz. We can stink perfectly well without either. We can have both. To groom the new kid...insert current hot pick here...for 2022. Rivers gives us stability, better than Fitz performance on the field to allow the team time to build the infrastructure for the rookie to succeed. Fitz can back the other old man up while beginning his transition to QB coach and eventual OC or not.
Between Fitz and Rivers there HAS to be a future NFL QB on the family roster. Plant that seed now!
According to approximately 49.9% of the posters here the last QB to wear #17 was the greatest since the greatest so...
Rivers may not have had a lot of post season success, but neither have the Phins during his career. He has won a few NFL games and has had a VERY successful career by any measure.
Build the team. Let Rivers and Fitz show them how to ball to the wall and then turn em loose in 20 deuce! -
Fitz gave us plenty of Stability.
Did you see this team play their guts our for Fitz and beat the Pats at the end of the season? There is no way that Rivers could ever be a better leader than Fitz has already proven to be.... None.
Fitz is cheaper and when you look at the QB rating and the fact we had the worst O line and running game in football last year... I would say Fitz easily outplayed Rivers last year.
This is not even a worthy topic for debate. -
