Keenan Allen said Joe Philbin drew up a play and asked him to go over what kind of coverages he might see and how he should adjust to them.[/q]
well, it's something.

Keenan Allen is a player that would be a fantastic fit for the offensive scheme. He's a solid route runner who can play all three positions. He's got great hands and toughness, and he has upper echelon quickness. He's quicker than he is fast. Does a great job of using his hands to get open and high pointing the ball. Very good after the catch.

Hes a solid if unspectacular player. His raw numbers dont fool you and imo hes just a very steady player. Im not sure hes worth the 12th pick but Bill Polian did compare him to Reggie Wayne earlier today. Im not sure I see that but certainly only Polian and Peyton Manning have really seen Reggie Wayne so much that they would know a look-a-like on tape if they saw one.
Per Rotoworld:
Appearing on NFL Live Friday, ex-Colts president Bill Polian compared Cal WR Keenan Allen to Reggie Wayne.
Polian knows Wayne pretty well. "When I see Keenan Allen," said Polian, "I see Reggie Wayne." Like Wayne, Allen is considered a quality route runner who sharply gets in and out of his breaks. He's projected as a late first-round pick. -
Thats a good comparison when you consider how Wayne was regarded coming out.

Nice to hear, but they are going to be meeting with mostly every player during the combine.

Too funny...looking at the college careers of Allen and Hartline:
Keenan Allen:
205 catches, 2,570 yards, 12.54 ypc, 17 TDs...8.3% TD catches or 1 TD catch for every 12.06 passes caught
Brian Hartline:
90 catches, 1429 yards, 15.88 ypc, 12 TDs...13.33% TD catches or 1 TD catch every 7.5 passes caught.
Sexual favors for a GM that would spend the 12th pick in the draft to replace a WR that doesn't score many TDs with a WR that scores even less TDs...strange. -

If Ireland's def players are gone by twelve I think you can trade down and take a chance on one of two payers being there after the trade down, Eifert and Allen..Then Pick up Lacy, sign Wallace or Jennings, now were cookin and still have a lot of resources.

I like the idea of drafting Allen, especially if we are targeting Wallace in FA.
-
I think Allen is the safest WR pick in the draft, possibly even one of the safest picks period.
I think there is almost zero chance he is a bust. He may have less of a chance of being a superstar than a guy like Patterson, but Allen certainly won't be a bust. -
This is my favorite WR prospect. I'll take a perfect fit for the WCO over the smoke and mirrors of Patterson anyday

Shades of Cam Cameron asking Brady Quinn to draw up plays ....

I just remember the big deal some media members made of Cameron interviewing Brady, etc. etc. And then look what happened. Not really worried about Philbin becoming Cameron in any way/shape/form, it's just I try not to get too worked up over these pre-draft reports.
