Here's my take, which I believe is fair. This is NOT a Ginn thread but, one for an overall picture.
1. Bess- Aside from Welker, is the best slot receiver in the NFL, who is gonna get better. JMO.
2. Hartline- Shocked the hell out of me as a good #2 WR in his first year. I expect him to be a VG #2 this year.
3. Ginn- HORRIBLE year as a WR, is not, and will not be a #1. However, he is still the only WR other teams fear. IF he can play at least as well as 08, he will help this team.
4. Cam- Catches everything, great on ST, and is a "football player."
5. Turner- Jury is still out, DISAPPOINTING first year, gonna wait and see.
Upgrading is going to be tuff. We may be better than I thought we would be.
Thoughts?

Does Camarillo play ST? I know Hartline does, and does well. But I don't recall Cam making much of an impact there, if at all.
Next year will most likely be uncapped, which means Ginn will probably be back. I still think they should move him to Punt Returner, where he was better than KR in college.
Turner is even more disappointing than Ginn. He may end up getting cut.Fin-Omenal and Xeticus like this. -
Cam played ST in 07 and 08 I think HardKore.
I might disagree with Bess being 2nd best slot WR or that Hartline will be a VG #2 next year, but overall I would agree.HardKoreXXX likes this. -

I still think our receivers are better than people give them credit for. They don't have an all star in the group but they have a bunch of guys that can make plays when needed and come up with the clutch catches like they did all season long.
-
Hartline did nothing but good, without knowing much of what he was doing, and a first time starting QB. I can easily find fault in WR's, tuff to do with Hartline. -
while i really appreciate Bess, especially the way he bounced back from his early season woes, the 2d best slot WR in the NFL sounds a bit inflated ?
Hartline shows some true promise .... how good a #2 he can be - we'll see by the end of this coming season.
CAM is a steady freddy .... a solid reliable WR - just not spectacular ....Fin-Omenal likes this. -
Overall, a pretty good asessment in the OP imo.
IF Ginn ever plays up to potential, or we pick up a true thoroughbred, that is actually a very solid crew. Let's not forget Grice-Mullin.adamprez2003 likes this. -
Steve Breaston
(Perhaps) Jason Avant
Percy Harvin
Robert Meachem (if you count him in the slot)
(Maybe) James Jones
There's at least 4, maybe 6, I would take over him. -
To back up your opinion on Bess, PFF ranked as the 2nd best slot WR, just above Percy Harvin.
Hartline surprised me as well. He was a low level #2 this year. I think he will be a low to mid level #2 next year.
Cam was about even with Hartline this season. Unfortunately he doesn't have much upside.
Ginn has upside but there's also downside. On the upside the most you can hope for is and always has been a good #2. At this point, though he's nothing you can count on until he proves otherwise.
Turner is probably a bust. We haven't seen anything from him and there are rumblings from Dolphin players who've watched him in practice that we shouldn't expect to. He's another guy we can't count on.
So we have a great slot WR, a potentially mid-level #2, a low level #2 and two guys we can't count on.azfinfanmang, adamprez2003 and jetssuck like this. -
Also, I'm not ready to give up on Turner yet. We all say Receivers need at least 3 years to develop, yet we give up on Turner after his first year. This isn't directed towards you, just talking in general. -
Possibly worth noting is that PFF has Ginn rated as a better blocker than Bess. Also worth noting is that while Ginn had the 2nd most passes thrown in his direction, there was actually the fewest INTs off of passes intended for him (2). -
The thing about WRs is that they usually flash ability early even if they take three years to develop. Tuner has not flashed. We've seen less from him than we did from London or that other 3rd rounder a few years back whose name I'm blanking on. -
I knew Hartline would be a player for us. I met and have kept in contact with some OSU fans over the last few years and they went on and on about him.
I was upset that we did not play him sooner over Ginn.
IMO the two most important things for a WR is to get open and to catch everything thrown to him. Anything else is a plus.
If you have a accurate QB and WRs that can get open and catch the ball you have a offense. In this case you do not really need to make big plays in your passing game IF YOU CAN STOP BIG PLAYS IN THEIR PASSING GAME.
Pennington showed that to us last year.
I mentioned this on a "lesser" Dolphin fan site and I was told you cannot use Ginn in the slot because he is too fast..............
IMO, Ginn should be used as a kick returner and from time to time as a slot WR. Then let a nickel back or safety try to cover him.
Anyone beside me old enough to remember the Rams that went to the Super Bowl?
That thinking reminded me of Saban's last year when we never moved Chris Chambers. He lined up in the exact same spot 92% of the time.adamprez2003 likes this. -

With the whole offseason dedicated to tailoring the offense around Henne's strength (vs. Pennys' strengths last offseason), look for the O to be improved whether or not that #1 guy is acquired. But to get to the next level, one or two playmakers have to be added, particularly at the TE and WR spots...finyank13 likes this. -

I was real impressed with Hartline this year. IMO he can become a very good #2 if he continues to progress off of a very successful rookie year. I think we are in desperate need of a #1 and if we do keep Ginn (which I'm not gonna comment on here) and we give Turner a pass for being a rookie (and a 3rd round draft pick), we may end up letting Cam go.
There are going to be some very tough decisions to be made in the next few months. While it would be great to bring in a stud WR, how does that weight against the other needs of the team (NT, ILB, S, TE)? Are we good enough with our WRs such that we focus high draft picks on defense? Or vice versa given the return of our injured players on defense? To be really good, we need to upgrade at several positions. It'll be very interesting to see how the front office approaches this offseason and what they prioritize. -
Considering the change in QB, Henne being inconsistant, not taking many snaps in practice, the team running a lot, and being a rookie adds a lot to my being impressed.
I expect that this year he will get 700-800 snaps, catch 50-60 passes, around 800 yards, and 5-6 TD's. That is a realistic look for improvement. It may be better but, do not see it being worse.
The other thing worth noting is that 6 of his 31 catches were for 20 yards or more. That's what we REALLY NEED.DolfanCole likes this. -
Only point I disagree with is you saying that other teams fear Ginn, I really think no team fears him. I think they all acknowledge that he could break one. But how many articles have to read about his rep around the league as being soft, that all you have to do is jam him at the line, and he cant separate from it... -
Although they have been way too few, and far between, how many times can you remember when Ginn made or, woulda, coulda, shoulda made a game changing play? -

GinnJr is a bust & @ very best trade bait for 2010. the guy doesn't belong in the NFL. been up to bat three times & struck out three times. three years of nothing = bust, it is the rule on WR's in the NFL. unless you want to see if he can play QB, its over. forget about it. not going to happen. they already tried to dump him once in 2009 with no takers. good bye & good luck GinnBoy. no mais! por favor, acaba com isso. it's over.

2. "Three years of nothing is the rule". False. There is no "rule" about receivers. He hasn' had three years of "nothing"...and many receivers take four years. -
what killed me on him this year, was on top of grabbing his shoestring to tackle him, that is, if he doesn't fall to the ground himself, not being able to get off the line, no route running ability, low football IQ, etc etc....there was a couple of big games late in the year, when given the chance to make a play late in the game he dropped it...so now he is starting to get the gagger label on top of everything else......but hey at least he busts his butt.... -
A very good #2 is Anquan Boldin, Donald Driver, TJ Housh. Hartline isn't even close to that level. Right now Hartline isn't even at the level of Pierre Garcon.
Ginn is a deep threat and little else as a WR. But the same could be said of DeSean Jackson. They just use him better.
Camarillo is a very good #4.
Pat Turner is a waste. His only role is #1 WR, and he is not that. -
about the 2010 Receiving Corp:
BrianHartline, Bess & Camarillo are the three you can depend on to start
after that, there are prospects:
1) Brennan Marion should return
2) Ryan Grice-Mullen is a new acquisition & current WR CFL star
3) jury is still out on Pat Turner who still could turn the corner
4) whoever we draft @ WR this year (Dez Bryant seems to generate a lot of talk)
5) Patrick White should get a shot the slot/wr position
6) GinnJr. is gone, history, trade bait, whatever, the guy is a bust
7) don't see us going into free-agency looing for a play-maker @ WR.
my money would be on a play-maker on defense, NT or ILB -
