How about pink goal posts, maybe Carpenter can see them better from 46+ yards down the field!?
I just can't stand Goodell. This guy is such a hypopcrite. -

Not a fan of all the contrasting pink on the uniforms, etc. But, on the other hand, I am a fan of the NFL giving the entire month of October to breast cancer awareness. I think that is great.
And I see nothing hypocritical in that at all. One may disagree with Goodell's conclusions on player discipline; and even think he is too hard-line on those matters. But, it doesn't mean he's a hypocrite. -
-Don't burn the videotapes!
-Get the officials back to protect the players, it's not that the billionaires can't afford it or that the refs are overpaid given the money the NFL makes.
-Mr. Goodell, studies show we have a concussion problem, we should do something about it... (several years back)
-No, Regular Thursday Night games are not a solution to this problem.
-Yes, an extra bye week would!
Somehow he never applauded there.
I understand he has to say this and it's great for the kid, but this guy to me is an hypocrite and i think he shows it everytime he opens his mouth. I like all this breast cancer awareness stuff (not for four weeks though), but unfortunately I just can't take it serious when this guy is involved in any way.Pandarilla likes this. -

Don't tell me you(Goodell) really care about breast cancer awareness, good ideas and fans when you proofed multiple times that you care about the owners and money (which is basically the same) while you obviously don't care about fans and serious health issues of your players. -

Can't they just triple the amount of money they donate to breast cancer research (or cancer in general for that matter) and save us the empty gestures?!

- yes, he cares about making money. his bosses made him commissioner to put the best product on the field to make them the most money. it's what he gets paid to do.
- you must not have any experience working in a big corporation. support of initiatives like breast cancer awareness is a big PR boost for corporations like NFL. makes the shareholders feel good when they are spending all their money.
- the safety issues are completely - 100% separated from that. He has clearly shown multiple initiatives to protect players, specifically the ones on offense - QB and WR.
- the issues with the holdout of the refs was blown way out of proportion with respect to player safety. show me one example of a player getting hurt that would not have happened with the normal refs
- and finally, the commish doesn't answer to the fans, because the NFL is by far the most popular sport in the country. look at us. we continue to be connected heart-and-soul to our NFL team even though they've stunk for most of the last 2 decades. the NFL has all the leverage because they've put a great product on the field that we can't get enough of. -
I'm no expert, but from what I gather the importance of breast cancer awareness is that there is a 95% survival rate for early detection. Basically getting people to get mammograms would save a lot of lives. I don't think thats necessarily the case for most other forms of cancer.RevRick likes this. -

Agreed. And no drops.

You get pancreatic cancer, you're screwed regardless -
Wow. Complaints about the color of the penalty flag. Where's Bill Engvall when you need him?
-
The only pink the Jets get on Sunday will involve a flag

Be as defensive as you want, I foresee a day next year where a Woody Allen-esque halftime production starring a giant boob slowly curmudgeoning its way across the field...
it's just ironic is all...feckin' bizzaro league. This was my bastion of masculinity. Nothing like having a color that represents a vagina to invade my sanctuary. -

Gentlemen..
I really don't give a flying rip what color they use for a penalty flag if by some means any one woman gets a chance (maybe by some nitwit more interested in football than his wife's health suddenly gets the idea to make sure she has had a mammogram) to avoid breast cancer. In my congregation we have seven survivors of breast cancer (including my wife!) in a membership of 190, and two current cases for which we are praying and supporting the family - one of which has children at home.
Some perspective please.
Now, Pandarilla...
you do remember that even Woody knew that those things usually travel in pairs...
