Assuming sweeps of the Bills and Jets, who does our one win come against?

 

Well he did peg us at 7-9 in last year's predictions.

But he also said the Ravens and 49ers wouldn't make the playoffs.

 

He has us starting out 0-5. The schedule looks tough, I feel like everyone predicting 10+ wins is overlooking that. 4 of the first 5 games on the schedule are against superior teams. I could see a 1-4 start.

 

Interesting he has the colts at 7-9. And he has the NFC north with 3 teams at 10-6 or better.

 

He has us losing once each to the Bills and Jets, but beating Cincy (his eventual SB champion), Carolina and San Diego.

 

If he is anywhere close to being correct, it will be mutiny in South Florida. Expectations are rediculously to high and the disappointment level will reach new lows. I wouldn't want to be Jeff Ireland if this team goes 5-11.

It is another reason I don't understand him not taking the Left Tackle over Jordan. Johnson instantly makes us better. Martin back to the right side, we have still have a stiff defense, the running game has a chance, and Tannehill has the line he needs to further his development.

I see his concerns, but god I hope he is wrong.

I do see a 1-4 start but on the bright side, we should get better as the season progresses and there is a soft stretch that could see us a few games over .500, even after the 1-4 start.

 

Jordan was drafted because the long term impact (potential) he can have for our team outweighed the perceived potential gain that would come from taking Lane Johnson (assuming they even liked him as a prospect) or anyone else available. I don't see what's hard to understand, they thought Jordan was a better prospect, period. Also, Jordan should have some success this year and make us better as well, even if he doesn't start.

 

His reasoning may not be good, but we ourselves have said 7-9, even 6-10
Is not a stretch given our schedule.

It all comes down to whether you decide Tannehill will take the next step and have OL protection... Or not.

If Tannehill doesn't, if the Oline doesn't protect even averagely, is it unreasonable to expect 5 wins with our opponents?

Imagine splitting with the Bills and Jets, getting swept by the Pats. In that scenario, I can't find more than two other wins on the schedule, maybe three.

Is it pessimistic? Sure but on reasonable issues for concern: an unproven QB and questionable O-line.

 

I can't see how anyone could take Pete Prisco seriously. I don't give a $#&! what he thinks.

1-4 is possible but I'm more along the lines of 2-3 or maybe even .500 by the bye. @Browns W, @Colts W, vs Falcons L, @Saints ?, vs Ravens ?. The Saints are known for having one of the best offense in the NFL, but you know what else they're know for? Giving up points. They gave up 454 points last year, or 28 per game. If our defense can somehow limit their offense to 21-24 points we may have a chance to win. Plus we're better on the road than at home. Making the Ravens one-dimensional by stopping Rice and forcing Flacco to throw should be the plan. Limit their offense and try to gash a defense that lost its two best players.

 

I truly can't see us going under 7-9. He has us losing by less than 7 points every game too. I think 5-11 is ridiculous, he has us beating the Super Bowl winning Bengals too.......worst sports journalist ever

I haven't said 6-10. I was at 7.0 to 7.5 wins and then some things happened both on our own roster and on some of our opponents rosters that made me think more along the lines of 7.5 to 8.0 wins.

If the Dolphins go 7-9 I would be mildly, maybe partially surprised, but also not that surprised. If they go 6-10 I would be surprised. If they go 5-11 I would be very surprised.

 

He normally doesn't like us, he loves Jacksonville though

Sorry but this is just really weak. I don't see us going 0-5 to open up the season. I see us going 2-3 as a more likely scenario.

 

I think people are overrating Cleveland. I was talking trash with some Browns fans last week in Canton at HOF. I seeing us winning that game in a close one.

 

Just can't see Dalton as a SB QB. Ok having weapons but he makes too many dumb throws.

 

I think it will depend on the injury situation .We are not that deep at certain positions especially the OL .

A 5-11 record is like the worst case scenario .A 8-8 record is more realistic IMO.

If you have us pegged at 7-8, IMO with football 5-11 isn't surprising. Two bad bounces the whole year can cause two losses. Sturgis going Dan Carpenter can cost us two games a year.

 

Trent Dilfer. Brad Johnson. Matt Hasselbeck. Rex Grossman. All pedestrian QBs making it into the SB And a few of them winning it. Cincy has a pretty good D and strong weapons. It could happen.
