Great .......
Possibly our best player and we will listen to trade offers....
If this is the case we'd probably look to any one on the team as a potential trade offer...The question is ...ya for a ridiculous price which in reality no team in their right mind would Ever offer, and thus makes this whole idea moot...
Only thing that would make this even stupider is if we dealt him to Belichick......
Ya the Dolphins just have to many game breakers, lets get rid of a few, oh ya, we don't have a few........
Gives us room to sign another potential keeper to fill the backup for a backup...
Sorry to have to post this but hearing all this Landry trade talk kinda blows my mind

Last time we traded away a slow receiver who did the kind of stuff that Landry does for us (Wes Welker), we were stupid enough to trade with the Patriots for a second round draft choice. Remember how well that turned out for us? Hopefully we learned a little something from that.
With any luck, Cutler is looking at short to medium routes when the bomb isn't open.

Said this on my GM Street podcast @RingerPodcasts in May. Miami will listen to offers on Jarvis Landry and seriously listen.

Seriously though, besides the upcoming extension talks, you have to wonder if the recent domestic issue is playing a role. Also, we are dealing from a potential position of strength at WR. We don't NEED to offload him, but we also don't NEED to keep him. If the offer is not legit, we won't trade. -
We placed a second round tender on him, and the Patriots was considering giving an offer sheet that would have basically been a poison pill. And that's when the trade happened.
With that said, we have a very good trio of receivers in Landry, Parker, and Stills. And I'd really hate to see that ruined.HULKFish, Tin Indian, Two Tacos and 2 others like this. -
Hartline was never a slot receiver.

We need to know how much cap space we had in 2007 compared to how much the Patriots had in order to evaluate what happened. If the Pats had given Welker an offer sheet at 3.6M a year, did we have the cap room to match it? Teams with a lot of cap space can front-load their offer sheets to put a team with less room in cap hell if they match - Like the Bills did to us with Clay. What were the two teams' respective cap positions, I wonder? Or did we simply undervalue Welker while the Pats knew his true value?
I think we are going to have to pay Landry if we want to keep him, and the time to negotiate is now.

I think we should listen to offers. I like Landry, he's a great slot guy. But, he wants top 5 ALL WR $$$. No thanks. Rotoworld says we can't get a 2nd for Jarvis. I want a 1st and I think we could possibly get that. I'd take it.

So what is it? Is he the best player on our team or not worthy of the compensation we would be seeking?

Everyone wants us to be like the Patriots, do it "the Patriot Way"... until something like this comes up. But this is what the Patriots do. They trade big name players when they want big money, but are at peak value.

It's part of the business. They'd be fools to not listen to any offers on anyone. Who knows? Maybe some crazy batcrap good offer comes in. I'd trade Landry for Carr straight up or Prescott. It'd have to be something insanely good. Landry for Vonn Miller? These are just off the top of my head crazy thoughts that have no foundation in reality.

Christ if we could just refrain from FA signings of potential backups to compete with our back ups we'd save some more doe...( ex. we needed LB, Good one out there we sign Sylvestre....not putting him down just wonder if Doe could be used more efficiently, I mean looks like we got our share of them types and damn come on this isn't congress figuring out what to do with the money
There are ways to make this work if the will to do it is there and the recognition that this maybe critically important to our offense having success down the road.
And save us from another draft looking for his replacement in the higher rds a couple years from now.....We been there and did that, hell still do it...JMOLast edited: Aug 27, 2017dolphin25 likes this. -

It doesn't hurt to listen.... if the trade involves a 1st rounder.
If Landry truly wants top 5 WR money and a some team is willing to trade a 1st rounder for him, we'd be crazy not to at least think about it and weigh the pros and cons. Wouldn't take anything less than a first though.mcdave21 likes this. -
A second round pick for Welker is a steal for any franchise that has a competent front office and scouts. Cam Cameran has a weird hard-on for Samoans.

Lets make them an offer then.

wouldn't it have to be a treasure chest and at minimum instant help at DB and Guard? Miami is investing in Parker way too early. He has not proven he can stay healthy and when a play is needed, Jarvis is there
-
we won't get a 1st for Jarvis, not with his looming salary demands. If a crappy team like Cleveland offers us a high 2nd rounder, I pull the trigger. Unless Jarvis comes out and says he will take a reasonable contract, he won't be here long term. Instead of thinking with our hearts (because we all adore the guy) we need to think about what would other great teams do in this situation? None of them would pay Landry in this situation, neither should we.

I guess we'll find out how badly Jarvis Landry wants to be a Miami Dolphin...

"Dolphins management assured the Jarvis Landry camp on Sunday that the team is not considering offers for the veteran wide receiver in the wake of a report to the contrary, according to a source with direct knowledge.
The team also conveyed that it has no plans to trade him.
The Dolphins told Landry’s representation that there is no truth whatsoever to NFL insider Mike Lombardi’s Sunday tweet “that Miami will listen to offers on Jarvis Landry and seriously listen.”
Lombardi went to on to tweet that there are two “factors on Miami wanting to listen--1-not going to resign him and 2- [DeVante] Parker is going to get more involved.”
Lombardi also tweeted: “When I say "listen", the Dolphins have made it be known they will move him for the right price--they are as active as other teams talking.”
Lombardi, now working for The Ringer, insisted that his information comes from “a great source.”
And Lombardi has credibility; he has worked as an executive for the Raiders, Browns, Eagles and Patriots and has many friends who still work in the league.
Landry is in the final year of a contract that will pay him $893,850 this season - less than more than 100 other receivers.
Landry’s agent, Damarius Bilbo, declined to comment.
But a team source said the Dolphins haven’t made a single offer to Landry on a multi-year extension. Bilbo said in June that Landry would not consider any offers once the regular season begins Sept. 10.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, asked about Landry last month, said the Dolphins will consider waiting until next spring and placing the franchise tag on him, which would pay him in the range of $15 million in 2018.
“I think he’s a great player–there’s no question about it,” Ross said on the first day of training camp. “I think he’s handled himself well. He didn’t hold out. It’s not a question of if we don’t sign him now, we lose him. We can franchise him and go from there. There’s a lot of opportunity for him to stay here. I hope he stays here, because he’s a great player.”
When asked if a deal would be struck before the season, Ross said, “I don’t know if it’s before the season, but like I said, it’s not really mandatory that we do it before the season.”
Landry and Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Landry’s friend and former LSU teammate, jointly own the NFL record for most catches over the first three seasons of a career (288).
Jay Cutler’s $10 million contract, combined with looming charges for filling out a practice squad, will leave the Dolphins with just $4.5 million in cap space entering the season barring further moves, said Jason Fitzgerald, founder of outsidethecap.com.
But the Dolphins showed no interest in making Landry a multiyear offer even before Ryan Tannehill’s injury necessitated the allocation of considerable cap space to Cutler.
The Dolphins have less than $3 million in projected cap space in 2018, not counting any space that they carry over."Bpk likes this. -
Nothing to read here
Miami had a bad defense and trading for a player now and a pick later does not help. Their defense is so bad, they need to actually add more explosion snd keep what they have to outscore teams

I love the guy but it makes a lot of sense to trade him right now. He has the most value he's had and we can't afford to pay all 3 of these receivers. In this scheme Parker is a lot more valuable and we are gonna have to pay for him soon.
