Listening to his lawyers interview on WFAN in New York, they have nothing on Ross besides "Flores' honesty". He says the conversation happened and they won't say there were other people in the room other than that he called people afterwards and told them about it.

His lawyers told ESPN that they have evidence and witnesses who will corroborate the allegations against Ross.

The thing is, even if Flores proves that Ross did try to incentivise ranking, would the NFL strip him if his ownership?

I’m not convinced they would. Kraft didn’t lose his team when the Patriots cheated. Instead, they were punished. I suspect the same would happen to Ross and the Dolphins, we’d get punished.

The only time I can see Ross losing the team is if Flores or someone else has proof that he has been racist (eg Donald Sterling lost the Clippers) or done something morally wrong (eg Jerry Richardson lost the Panthers).

First off, offering to pay someone to rig a professional sports match is a crime, both in Florida and nationally. Flores didn't even have to accept the bribe for it to be a crime...just the offer is enough.

Second, Ross didn't cheat- he spit on the integrity of the game. Everyone talks about tanking like it's no big deal, but it absolutely is for an owner since it violates their ownership agreement. The spirit of the game is to compete, to give it everything you have to win. That can't be violated- it's the one thing that's sacred in sports.

Third, even without the other stuff, the media slaughter coming for Ross in the next few weeks will be enough to force him to sell. Nobody will ever believe a word he says again. This is going to get UGLY as the media releases the hounds on the internet.

Fourth, you should be hoping for this to happen as a fan, because it's going to be impossible for us to get coaches, free agents, etc. Nobody will want to be associated with the Dolphins after this and we already had trouble hiring. Our team is literally doomed with him as the owner...it's possible we don't have a head coach for 2022 if he's still here by then.

Fifth, the existing players on this team will want out. They'll be forced to take sides- do they choose the Dolphins owner or BLM??? This is going to be chaos if it's not taken care of very quickly. Nobody wants to waste their career with an owner who could care less about them.

Winning football games at any level comes down to winning in the trenches.

I wouldn’t be surprise if there was an element of white privilege behind some white players getting a break, but it is also possible that some of those coaches realised they were never going to make it as a player and turned to coaching, whereas a greater proportion of black players make it to the pros and perhaps don’t turn to coaching as often or as early as white players do.

Or coaching and playing are two different skill sets. Most of the players I hear interviewed can barely form a coherent sentence. It's why saying that 70% of the players are black so this should be represented as such is nonsense. Because being a great player RARELY EVER translates into being a GREAT COACH. Most of the good or even great coaches were never great players or had mediocre carriers at best.

Mike Florio says the consensus around the league is that Stephen Ross will be thrown out of the NFL.

Yes it has which is why it’s important to strip Ross of his succession plan. He shouldn’t be allowed to pick his successor. The commissioner must use this embarrassment to undo the succession plan or we are truly screwed.

Why shouldn't it be the guy with the most money? Again with the tribal politics that it has to be a minority. This is a business. If he's the highest bidder then bring him, her, they, (insert pronoun here) on.

yeah, I'm not going to hang Ross for tampering and tanking which is universally agreed upon that it occurs every single season in every american sport. Nothing the dolphins did was racist and flores throwing shade on the phins while bringing his complaint against the rooney rule is ridiculous. Now i agree the rooney rule is a sham and a lot of these black coaches get fake interview and its a problem but the stuff with the dolphins has nothing to do with that.

FYI, I hate ross and its no skin off my back if he gets ousted for this but it would be ridiculous imo.

Stephen Ross selling, no matter the circumstances, would be a momentous day for this franchise. And hopefully the end of the seaworld logo

There’s a lot of disagreement on this board on many topics, but there is at least one (almost) universal truth: no one likes Ross or Grier, and this scandal might sweep both out the door. Hell of an embarrassing way for it to happen (for the true believers, players and employees), but maybe we get our wish…

What did Ross do that was racist? People throw that word around too much. He hired a black GM and a black coach. Yup, he's a racist. He fired the coach because the coach sucked, not because he is black. That won't matter though. All of the woke social justice warriors will make it All about race. All this will do is stop owners from hiring black coaches and GM's because they will never be able to fire them.

The fact you can say a coach who had the 8th best record in the nfl the last 2 seasons “sucks” is interesting, not to mention the team PR going above and beyond to salt the earth on Flores isnt about wokeness. Its plain for everyones eye to see and clear.

Not to mention the leading candidate for the dolphins atm father is black making him half black. Also, the sixers openly tanked for 6 or 7 years i forget how long and they even marketed the fact they were tanking as the process. The dolphins stuff has zero to do with race and more to do with us being a dumpster for so long.

People can get fired for reasons other than performance whether you agree with that or not. The simple fact he was going against the owner is enough for the owner to fire him if he wants to.

Actually, if the owner asked him to commit a crime and fired him for not committing a crime… guess who just committed a crime?

So you're saying Ross is a racist? Btw, good coaches dont go on 7 game losing streaks, so why is it interesting that I said he sucks? That's my opinion. Fyi, it's not because he's black

yeah, well good luck proving that in court unless he has a recording from ross directly saying that. Having witnesses that are no longer on the dolphins with the obvious motive being an axe to grind against ross will go nowhere in court. Its also very vague how its being stated from his defense team currently. If ross said you get 200k for a win and 100k for a loss you can say hes paying you to tank. It's also a crime not to report the crime and is hung up in every single locker room inside the nfl. Clearly saying if you are offered bribe money for affecting games you have to immediately step forward and bring it to the league offices attention.

Oh really? Tell me what jury is going to find witnesses being truthful for reporting a crime after they were no longer with the team and it no longer benefited them. Clearly no motive for them to lie and slander ross. Im not claiming ross didnt do this or that ross isnt a clown shoes owner im saying unless they have a recording or written memo on contract from ross good luck in court.

And a little look into her found this:

Waters pleaded guilty in May, 2010, to one count of filing a fraudulent tax return, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison. Part of a bribery conviction of he co-conspirator for his role in conspiring to bribe Southfield City Councilman William Lattimore in connection with the Southfield City Council’s approval of the relocation of a pawn shop. In entering her guilty plea, Waters admitted to accepting a $6,000 Rolex watch which Riddle acquired from businessman Thomas LaBret. The watch was compensation for her work on Riddle’s behalf to secure support from Lattimore to move LaBret’s shop to Southfield. Waters admitted that although she understood that the watch was a form of compensation, she failed to report it as such in filing her 2008 taxes.

United States Attorney Barbara L. McQuade said, “People who engage in public corruption will be held accountable. It is reprehensible when people cheat the taxpayers of cities that are already struggling financially.”

You can't make this chit up. Maybe she should focus on why she let that happen and hasn't done anything for her community instead of blaming everyone else. THIS IS THE PROBLEM. Who you vote for matters. Who actually gets things done MATTERS. Not the color of your skin or the R or D behind their name. Maybe it's time for these communities that are underserved and poor to take a look at themselves for the choices they make in who represents them and why they haven't DEMANDED ACCOUNTABILITY. Instead they re-elected her.

IF true, Flores would become my all-time favorite former coach.
