Looks like Luck and RG3 won't be around....so why draft a QB this year? I think Ross will bring in Matt Flynn, and he and Moore will battle for the starting QB spot next year. Here is my mock draft, and it involves a trade down with the Cowboys. Our 8th overall pick for the Cowboy's 14th pick and 45th pick. We gotta stock up this year.
Round One (14th overall pick) - Courtney Upshaw (LB, Alabama)
Round Two (42nd overall pick) - Muhamed Sanu (WR, Rutgers)
Round Two (45th overall pick) - Coby Fleener (TE, Stanford)
Round Three (73rd overall pick) - Trumaine Johnson (CB, Montana)
Round Four (103rd overall pick) - Tony Bergstrom (RT, Utah)

If there is anyone on this team with the last name of Fleener...I will not renew my fandom.

No way Muhamed Sanu lasts that long, the kid is a stud.

I expect his stock to rise after the combines, but he is going to be one hellva player to whoever drafts him.Roman529 likes this. -
I am sick and tired of seeing the Dolphins trade down in the first round and end up with average talent in the first round. What I want to see is the Dolphins trade first round selections with the Rams. They can also give up their first round picks in 2013 and 2014, along with their second round pick this year. If the Rams also want Jake Long as part of the trade package, I have no problem with that.
The Dolphins can use the Rams selection to take Luck or RG3, whichever of them is still on the board. Selecting one of these QB's will be worth far more for the future of the Dolphins than the draft picks and Jake Long would ever be. -
I will explode with rage if we "trade down" and don't atleast try to trade up! If there was ever a year to trade up it's this year.

If they don't land a top QB (Luck,RG3)I can see them tradeing down.

I would rather a trade down than a reach for a QB. Not opposed to trading up...but I would hate to see a 1st round wasted on a mediocre QB above their value.

So yes, I am sick and tired of seeing this team do absolutely nothing in the first round of the draft to improve this team by trading up and selecting a possible impact QB or offensive playmaker. -

It is rather difficult to take anything you write seriously, since you seem to be defending an organization which is a combined 20-28 over the last three seasons. You still failed to tell me when this team has ever traded up in the first round in an effort to select an impact player. Perhaps if you read my statement, you would see that I stated that the Dolphins have never moved up in the first round to draft a more highly rated and possible impact player. I never stated that they haven't had some good picks in the first round over the last 46 years. -

I enjoy the idea of trading down and selecting Ryan Tannihill. Mostly because I think the guy has talent, however he needs to sit a year or two before becoming a starting quarterback.
I do not see Miami being able to trade up for Luck or RG3, since the price for both is way too high and teams with better draft picks select before them. -
Clearly we aren't looking for good players because we aren't trading up in the first round. :pity: -
thread title changed. as a reminder, Dolphins mocks can stay here. general mocks belong in the Draft sub forum :)

I think any first round without a QB selected needs to be a first round where we selected Blackmon. I'd be happier with Flynn/Blackmon than taking Upshaw because we might be able to make do with Anthony Spencer....or we could make Mario Williams the highest paid LB in the league. I'm also intrigued at the prospect of bringing a guy back in. Erik Walden played some damn good football for the Packers in the games of theirs I watched.

So you are saying you are sick and tired of Miami trading down and ending up with average talent...yet, you want to give up "3" 1st round picks and Jake Long (a superior talent) to take RG3? And if RG3 doesn't pan out or even if he is good we will have a second rate LT and no future 1st round picks for three years to draft weapons around him...huh. -
#14 seems like a good spot for Alshon Jeffrey...However, taking WR's in the first is extremely sketchy.

I just heard on ESPN that Landry Jones is going back to Oklahoma for another year, so that is another QB off the board. Had Barkley entered the draft I think we would have had a lot more options, especially at QB. If I were Ross I would make Flynn a nice offer, but nothing crazy. If we can't get Flynn or Peyton Manning, there isn't much out there, unless the Phins want to give up a ton of picks to move up. But I don't see Miami moving up.
