Texas A&M's Damontre Moore belongs in the first-round discussion based on his motor and production. However, there are some questions about his natural explosiveness and pass-rush technique, concerns that Moore might be able to assauge throughout drills at Lucas Oil next week.
An SEC underclassman who isn't a household name, Auburn's Corey Lemonier, has the natural athleticism to be an impact pass rusher at the next level. He needs to develop his strength and pass-rush moves. If Lemonier tests well, a team might be willing to take a chance on his upside much earlier than most project.

Lemonier is clearly more explosive than Moore and he remains one of my favorites if we want to get an edge rusher to compliment Odrick, he's ground zero for me as a value edge rusher pick:

There are so many comedy draft jokers. Twitter has spawned an entire generation on nobodies who believe their opinion is absolutely right and there a phone call away from working for a pro team instead of fannying around on the Internet. That's not necessarily aimed at Rob Rang but still, anyone who thinks Damontre Moore is allaying fears when he runs around in shorts in a controlled environment is a total douchebag. If you want to see Damontre Moore allay fears, watch his games.

As to the combine- sure, the game tape tells the most, but count me in as to being interested as to how Moore tests out in shorts. Moore is a smooth athlete and I do like him, but he reminds me of Brandon Jenkins in terms of a 4/3 DE/OLB type who is effective, a good edge rusher but less than explosive and not a great first step- but if he's smooth at 4.67 I'll feel better about that than if he runs a 4.85. On film, if you compare Moore's explosiveness to Corey Lemonier, Jones or the undersized Michael Buchanan- it's just not there, he's a step below.
Ansah remains the template imo of DEs that just get stonewalled by solid OTs- and I can't think of a single DE/OLB out there that doesn't come with questions, including Dion Jordan, who gets stonewalled pretty regularly himself. Should Moore be a top ten pick? I think that there's a chance that he won't be, but my best guess is that he is a 1 st rounder. There are good arguments against him, but taken a bit too far imo. If Ansah or Jordan went up against Alabama's OTs and TEs I think that the same questions would persist ie getting stonewalled, and put either of them up against Nixon or Menelik Watson and it might not be pretty- I think that Watson would dominate them both.

This is certainly not Aldon Smith- Moore is a good edge rusher, can bend the arc, good pursuit- but yeah, I'd have the same questions as to how he'd fare against NFL OTs especially considering the UA and UF games. Good player, not great, and with questions- bottom line. At 6-4 250 and a smaller 4/3 DE, it would be nice to see more pop/explosion in his edge rush and 1st step.
Here's Corey Lemonier:

It's just not the same, Lemonier is more explosive. I've seen maybe three guys this whole draft class that haven't shown significant flaws- Lotulelei, Warmack and Watson. I've tried to find weaknesses as per Menelik Watson, and so far I can't, the guy has impressed the hell out of me. Some are claiming he'll rip off a 4.7 at the combine, at which point he'll probably pull off a Joe Staley and be a 1st rounder- and he probably should be. Given the choice, I'd probably draft Watson over Moore, over Ansah for sure. -
Look at Moore against Florida. Not one of his sacks comes from flat out beating a guy. They come from hustle. Great stuff. But hustle only gets you so far. If I'm spending a top ten pick on a defensive end I want two things. One of them is pass rush threat f the kind you get from Cam Wake or Aldon Smith. I don't want someone who can't beat a college RT because they're not quick enough and who has question marks against the run. Moore looks a good kid and a nice player, but a top ten pick? Either I've been doing this too long or I just have higher standards.

But back to Moore- he can play some ball, despite the showings that he had in those two games. Judged by those games and he might not be a 4th rd pick much less a 1st- but his body of work as a whole is still pretty solid. If you go by the UA and UF games alone, Sean Porter deserves to get drafted ahead of Moore.
1. Ogletree
2. Elam
2. Watson
3. Wheaton
3. Lemonier
4. Porter
4. Jordan Reed (projected comp. pick)
5. Marquise Wilson
6.
7. Brandon McGee
Get Jennings or Wallace in FA and that would work for me. I'd still like to fit Da'Rick Rogers in there somewhere, I'd also consider Marquise Goodwin and maybe TE Zach Sudfeld if no Jordan Reed. This year's draft is confusing, but that's half the fun.
ps this guy looks interesting to me:

Just watching a bit on Moore and he does look like a "run around player", good motor and speed but not the quicks you'd like to see from a passrusher.
He reminds me of Shaughnassey coming out 4 yrs ago and he did develop into a good player for the Raiders.
That said, I could see Moore in Miami to play LDE if they cannot sign Starks and Odrick moves inside. -
Perhaps they would be interested to hear you editing suggestion. -

Pro Football Reference is wrong if they list Wake's base position as RDE, but you can go ahead and correct them if you like.ToddPhin likes this. -

My fave DE though is Tank.
"One of the most-talented pass rushers in this draft class, Florida State's Cornellius Carradine, wasn't even a starter at the beginning of the season. But after an injury, “Tank” stepped up and had an excellent senior season until he tore his ACL in late November, which clouds his NFL Draft future. The progress of Carradine's knee could determine whether he is selected in the first round or falls to the second day."
I'm going to be very curious what the medical reports are on him. -
