I find that interesting.

I have no real opinion on Farmer. But I have heard elsewhere that he is considered by many to be the best of the bunch.

There you go, he has good people skills. Meaning even if he makes Miami a 1-15 team, he will still be more liked than Ireland

 

I think that's the only reason Armando is cluing into him regardless of the fact he's a good candidate.

Ugh. Not sure I like that comment about him being ultra tight with Fritz Pollard Alliance's chairman.

 

Heard his name floating around, but I don't know how I feel about this... Time to do some research.

The official list was supposed to be released today and I don't think any or many GM interviews have even happened yet....so how can he be the leading candidate?

I love the fact he was a linebacker. He had to study a ton of opposing players when getting ready for Sunday. He had to watch RB's...QB's ...TE's..find tendencies. It seems like other then QB..a linebacker has to most responsibility on the field. I think its one of the reasons Ozzie Newsom is such a good evaluator of talent. To be Hall of Fame TE..he had to learn to block...run routes against DB's...LB's. Obviously this doesnt turn everyone into a great talent evaluator and an amazing GM. But when you put that...with all the other aspects needed to be a good GM..I cant see why this guy wouldnt be a great GM.

He's got a degree in Sociology.

He was a recruiter and Academic Coordinator for Duke. This is another thing I believe is a big plus. He can relate to younger players, as he worked with them at Duke.

This weekend, Farmer joins the club on its trip to Kansas City, where he spent seven memorable seasons and one “awful, awful, awful” day with the Chiefs. He returns as a decision maker who has a say in every facet of football operations alongside Banner, general manager Michael Lombardi and coach Rob Chudzinski.

The Browns didn’t trade halfback Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round pick last month, Banner said, without Farmer’s input. (He favored making the deal.)"

He joined the Chiefs in 2006 and three years later found himself under Pioli, who worked for the Browns, New York Jets and New England Patriots before being named Kansas City’s general manager in 2009.

What impressed Pioli was how quickly Farmer adjusted to the organization’s new direction and philosophies. He also liked his confidence and willingness to speak up and respectfully disagree with superiors. Pioli streamlined Farmer’s duties, which included scouting all players with pro experience in the NFL and Canadian Football League.

“I think he became the best Director of Pro Personnel in the league,” Pioli said. “Every year we gave him more responsibility. He never complained and never broke his loyalty to me or the organization. That’s rare in this business."


Doesnt sound to me like hes a yes man....

 

Tom Gamble has been the top candidate and now Ray Farmer is. I'm sure we'll have a new top candidate within the hour.
