Smart guy that Sam Madison.
Disheartening to hear that hitting Ted Ginn was almost like a game to the Giants because they knew he wouldn't retaliate in anyway. To put it bluntly he said Ted is a *****.
Its one thing for fans to think that, but its much worse for the people covering him to know it.Bpk, Ophinerated, texasPHINSfan and 3 others like this. -
I guess the Giants's plan to rough Ginn up didn't work since he scored a touchdown against them in that game.
Kanye West, gafinfan, resnor and 5 others like this. -
They were the only team the season the didn't rough him up.

It was a terrible field with Cleo Lemon at the helm... what did you expect?resnor, 54Fins and adamprez2003 like this.
-
It brought us within one score with a chance to recover an onside kick.
-
Wow thats pretty insightful from Mr Madison.....maybe he can get a username and discuss our draft needs with us.
resnor likes this. -
And we played them very tough,in England, and we were 1-15 that year going up against the eventual Champions.
....And Sam was right in everything he said.Like what most people saw throughout this year. -
And all this time we thought Ginn and Bess were #1's.....If I were Parcells I would fire Ireland and bring in #29.
-
I understand sticking up for Ted Ginn, who has been just abused on this board, but I disagree with insulting Madison in the process. He's been nothing but respectful of the organization since he left. I hope that Madison retires as a Dolphin and gets his chance to enter the Ring of Honor (with Pat Surtain) sometime this decade.Bpk, Ophinerated, texasPHINSfan and 9 others like this.
-
No one has any reason to inslult Madison.
He simply said what many of us know already about Ted Ginn.
He just verified the obvious and added to the list of professionals that have played the game who have called out Ginn.
Ginn is what he is and it's ok to verbalize it.Bpk, Ophinerated, Crappy Tipper and 6 others like this. -
doesnt madison actually take a shot at all the receivers in this interview? bess, hartline, camarrillo.....none of them are a go to receiver?
-
Exactly...ppl can't lump Madison in with pissed off posters starting "Ted Ginn Sucks" threads on a fins forum.
He gave actual accounts as a player that was defending against Ginn on the field.
Not to mention Sam is just the latest edition to the growing list of former Dolphin players to speak out on how ridiculously soft he is.Bpk, Ophinerated, Crappy Tipper and 2 others like this. -
-
He said none of them are a #1
Would you disagree with that assessment?
As much as almost this entire board IMO would agree we all like Bess, Hartline and Camarillo but none of them are a #1 talent.
He said if you put a #1 talent with this group were set.
I don't see that he took a shot at any of them.
Again, he called a Duck a Duck.Bpk, Ophinerated, texasPHINSfan and 4 others like this. -
better take his shot while he can because the guy is history here

Because Sam Madison was such a tough guy on the football field... oh, what a tackler he was!
resnor, jdang307 and Fin-Omenal like this. -
That was my first thought too, one of the major reasons he was cut was that he was not physical enough to play in Sabans D and had no love for contact himself.azfinfanmang, resnor and adamprez2003 like this.

Ginn doesn't play tough like many WRs we want him to be. His YAC this year was atrocious (his average wasn't even bad considering the YAC though). He tends to lose his balance often (when I feel he is trying to decide what to do). He goes down early.
None of the WRs on the roster are #1's. Only 2 have the potential to be one IMO (Turner and Ginn), and both are pretty much have the same percentage of unused/undisplayed ability as the other 3 guys percentage of untapped ability.
We definitely need an upgrade at our top spot. One guy could have a huge domino effect on the rest of the WRs.Bpk, Colorado Dolfan, resnor and 1 other person like this. -
If you google Sam Madison tackle the second link is to the old site that shall not be mentioned, and the title is "Can Sam Madison tackle an old crippled lady?" :lol:Frumundah Finnatic, Coral Reefer, azfinfanmang and 3 others like this.

BTW - Sam Madison is one of my favorite Dolphins all time. I have his jersey in aqua, white, and even the BLUE one that came out! I'm just keeping it real... love you and your JT Money "Who Dat" dancing while we were on defense at home, Sammy. :wink2:
He just has no right to be calling another player "soft" -- just like Marino, as great as he was, would have no right to downgrade Brees because he doesn't have a ring. Smell me.
1 - Dez White
2 - Brian Hartline
3 - Davone Bess
4 - Ted Ginn
That's the cure! -
I get what you're saying but Sam was a playmaker. 31 INT's & 6 FF in a fins uniform. If Ginn were a playmaker I wouldn't give a damn if he didn't like being tackled.Ophinerated, texasPHINSfan and Rocky Raccoon like this.

I loved Sam Madison. I was very proud of him and Surtain being a phin fan in San Diego. But let the tough guys criticize those who are not tough.

like sean smith? dont hear anyone complaining about his soft tackling. should we expect threads dedicated to how poorly sean smith tackles?resnor likes this.

I complain about Smith's tackling. Perhaps I'd don't beat that drum very loud or very often, but I definitely beat it. I'll start more threads (or at least a thread) about it if it keeps up. :shifty:Bpk and adamprez2003 like this.

exactly lets pick apart all the Dolphins players. Anyone who isnt playing like Dick Butkus must be cut!!!!!!!!!! Cant have these wimps playing for our team. And I want our kicker and punter to get more physical. Just because they are kickers doesnt give them an excuse to be wimps :tantrum:MrClean likes this.

If you want to add another chapter in the Ted Ginn excuse book by comparing him against a rookie cornerback not being in the same category as an all pro cornerback that played for a decade we can have that discussion but it doesn't change the fact that in year three of his career Ted Ginn was the invisible man for the majority of the season.Bpk likes this.
-
Are we also arguing about this in an alternate universe or something?
Don't we have this exact same thread going?Bpk, Rocky Raccoon and Vengeful Odin like this. -
your quote was "I get what you're saying but Sam was a playmaker. 31 INT's & 6 FF in a fins uniform. If Ginn were a playmaker I wouldn't give a damn if he didn't like being tackled." Sean Smith has zero interceptions so I'm assuming that you cant stand his "soft" play. Obviously if he had some picks all would be foregiven but since he hasnt made even one measly little pick he is a complete bust no?
-
same exact thread? we have over one hundred same exact threads on Ginn :lol::lol:Colorado Dolfan and jetssuck like this.
-
I know, which is why he was one of my favorites. I'm just saying... he wasn't exactly known as a tough guy, so he has no right to call other players soft, IMO. He can comment on Ginn as a playmaker or lack thereof, because he was a playmaker himself. But the tough / soft thing he doesn't get the pass.
I recall that alone being the difference between Surtain and Madison; toughness.Crappy Tipper and adamprez2003 like this. -
If this were the rookie year for Ginn & Smith this would be a reasonable comparison. It's not, so it isn't.
If he still is underperforming year 3 then we can lump him in with Ginn, but that means he can still play mediocre (if that's how you define his rookie play) for two more years before people stop defending him..... oh wait, people still defend Ginn so maybe year 4 or 5? -
The difference between Sam and Pat was......Sam could jam at the line and then stay in a WR's back pocket until the whistle blew and Pat was a freakin magician at the way he got away with holding. I bet he's still got some jersey thread under his finger nailsOphinerated, Frumundah Finnatic, Coral Reefer and 2 others like this.
-
I get it, but if a guy that doesn't like to tackle still noted how much he can rough up Ted Ginn then that's really saying somethign as to how Ginn is perceived.
It's like being kicked in the dick by the smallest kid in school.Ophinerated and NaboCane like this.
