Season end points scored/allowed

So we need to improve our scoring by at least 5 pts a game it seems.

Hopefully we secure more takeaways next year and that helps.

This has been my point, we are less than a TD a game away. I don't think people fully understand what one more WR that is competent (and not even all world) could do for us. Or a solid olineman so the TE can be utilized catching the ball more or to allow the RB to catch a ball in the flats.

That is the bottom of the barrel for 2012 season being the Kansas City Chiefs. The Dolphins only outscored them by 77 points. Not a good time to be a Chiefs fan.

16 extra TDs a year isn't that easy

What I see from this is Miami needs to improve it's offense much more than any problems on D. To compete with the Pats in our division points are needed.
To early? Thoughts?

Looking at these numbers its also clear that the best defenses with decent offenses get you through or you can get the best offense and get through.

A couple of offensive tweaks and we could get into the high 300's which would make us formidable.

It's not easy but it is a reachable goal.

Ryan Tannehill having a year of experience under his belt should be good enough for an extra 6-8 TDs alone.

It's definitely reachable. Just not easy in the NFL. We could end up with less TD's next year. Who knows.

If Ryan steps up and improves his skills vastly, sure. We'll also need more weapons.

Will we get them? As of right now, I almost feel like we've maxed out on our TDs with the players we have. Ryan developing significantly will help that. Can or will Ireland add the pieces necessary, at the same time hoping our defense doesn't regress (because then we'll need more than 16 TDs)

Part of the reason we gave up so few points as well is we faced some pretty weak offensive team this years. Our soft SOS reflects this. We need imrpovements on both ends of the ball.

the big mistake we can make is complacency with the defense. we still need another couple of playmakers on defense. I will be severely disappointed if at least two of our top 5 picks are not defensive and our 1st pick should be a pass rushing DE.

This team needs no less than 3 TD and 2 field goals a game or they choke and lose..

This offense is not one receiver away from anything. WR is indeed a huge need, but one WR is not going to allow the offense to improve its output by one touchdown per game, unless you time travel back to 2007 and kidnap Braylon Edwards.

Add Greg Jennings plus a 2nd or 3rd round WR (Tavon Austin?) in the draft; add Jared Cook and re-sign Fasano; add an RB, whether that's Jonas Gray or someone else; and have them all work with Tannehill as soon as possible.

Then you have a shot at the output you pass off as being within reach.
