look. i am all for playing to win, but this season is done. hope we dont mess up the number one pick. i was against suck for luck because i always want us to win but after years of this kinds of beatdown, it is time. we need to loose out, but knowing us will probably win 4-5 games and not get the number one pick. its not all on tanny, o line sucks, linebackers, etc, but he isnt helping and he had his chance. ill say though he is one tough dude. i felt so bad for him today.

I think tanking is the best option long term...especially if you want a front office change. We need to truly bottom out to force that, and having a top 2 pick will attract top executives.

Best way to do it without acting like you're tanking is to start someone else at QB. Tannehill still gives you the best chance to win, but it's clear we need to find someone else at QB so why play him further?
Try others out. Gase has the justification and it won't look like we're deliberately tanking.
I think 1st pick should be QB, but 2nd and 3rd need to be LB and CB. Use lower rounders on OL. Enough teams have put together a decent OL with lower round picks AND a good enough OL coach so find the right OL coach for next season.dolphin25 and caliphinfan like this. -
i agree. i know some fans are strongly against this, but i have been watching this team for years and its always the same. optimistic when the season starts, then 3-4 games in the wheels comes off. we win a couple meaningless games and go 500 or less. by the way matt moore is not the answer inspite of the chants. we just need to bite the bullet and loose out. i mean are we really going to run the table with this team? unless my eyes are lying to me this team sucks. our only barely win against freaking cleveland

I'm ok with drafting a QB with first pick, but we absolutely need to get some decent oline help. I'm not really a fan of shopping for that in late rounds right now.

fire tannebaum
turn assets into picks
cut the fat
properly rebuild -

Whether you use the 3rd on CB or OL I don't really care per se, but I think it should depend on what type of QB you choose. If you find a QB with above average mobility, then I'd say go with CB. If the QB we choose is more a pocket passer, then use the 3rd on OL. -
Sad part is that the QB class is pretty iffy this year. If Kaaya is ranked as the 4th or 5th best option you've got a thin class.
Take Myles Garrett to help this defense's ability to rush the passer. We will still be **** the next year anyways.gilv13 likes this. -
I view the oline as the biggest problem. The offense needs to be able to score, and the oline severely impedes that.

And an offensive lineman be. And linebackers. And a secondary. A TE.

oline has been our biggest problem for half a decade.

just thinking out loud what a new QB might be able to doMAFishFan, Pandarilla and dolphin25 like this. -
1. They're not drafting a QB
2. Even *IF* they did, it's Tannenbaum picking and the last time he chose Sanchez.. -
I dont think in this example it is tanking. They simply dont have enough talent to stop anyone and they just lack talent at RB and OL. They should be 1-7 before they head to Cali. Question is does Clev have any wins in them

I really have no problem with Suh as a player. I believe he is by far the best defensive lineman on the team. Yet the Dolphins need desperately to start rebuilding with younger and less expensive players. It is ridiculous that they have one of the highest payrolls in the league, while also having one of the two or three least talented rosters in the league.
By getting rid of Suh and Tannehill's contract and letting Wake, Misi, and Albert go in the off season. Perhaps they can finally begin a rebuilding process with plenty of cap space over the next several seasons.
Of course if Ross keeps Tannebaum around to lead this rebuilding, it will be a complete waste of time. Because I am convinced Tannebaum is as clueless as Ross is when it comes to building a successful football team.
Any rebuilding should start with firing Tannebaum and hiring a director of football operations who actually understands how to build a competitive and successful team. With so little talent on the roster at this time, a rebuilding process that will put a team on the field that can have success for a period of time is going to take at least three more years. Of course that assumes they have solid drafts each of those three years and do a much better job of signing quality free agents. -

I am sure they can sign a veteran QB for a lot less money, who can come in and play QB while they try to find and develop their next QB of the future. With this being a complete rebuild, I would rather see them pay a veteran QB $8-10 million for a season, instead of paying Tannehill $20 next year if he isn't in their long term plans, which I don't believe he will be. -
lol.
kidding.

I know folks are going to want to argue about which weakness is more important but let's pump the brakes first and realize that there are so many needs which are all so bad that it's going to probably take 2-3 years to fix this roster. If you're actually dedicated to fixing this team you have to start taking the best available talent out of the first and second round for the next few years to make sure you end up in a decent position by 2018 or 2019. And even then you may still be lacking chemistry. Point is, there's no sense is talking about whether we're better taking a CB or a LB or a pass rusher in such and such round.
Secondly, I agree that in going BPA there needs to be a high priority put on the reliability of the position. QBs in the 1st are much more reliable than anywhere else but even that high there's still only a 50% hit rate. I'm not sure I'm making my first pick a QB, especially when he's going to come into an environment where there's little running game and almost no protection. That's a recipe for failure. You might need to spend a year solidifying the line just to get it to a point where maybe in 2018 you can think about bringing someone in. So yeah, maybe Brian Hoyer or Matt Moore is your guy next year? You have to be smart.
In terms of defensive players, we need to be careful about how we value positions. Just think, a 4-3 DE such as what we will need in Vance Joseph's scheme is not as coveted and hard to find as a 3-4 OLB like Von Miller out in Wade Phillip's defense. That doesn't mean you don't grab a first rounder if he's there but to me, it's not as difficult to fill the position because the 4-3 DEs are not quite as rare as the 3-4 OLBs. That said, I think the 3-4 OLBs are more prone to busting as they attempt the transition in the NFL. But still, you pick the wrong guy and it's easy to end up with a Dion Jordan or a Vernon Gholston. I'm certainly not saying Myles Garrett is that but there are always studs who bust.
To me, you HAVE to find a way to avoid that kind of thing happening. Maybe it means you're slightly more conservative with where you put your assets. That's all I'm saying.resnor likes this. -
I believe Thill is and has been getting a bum rap.
Having said that, this team needs to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch in terms of players and FO. EVERYONE on this team that can get us picks should be dealt.
EVERYONE. Thill, Wake, Landry, Suh, Jones, whoever if the price is right. Don't care. Start fresh once and for all. By the time we're in contention again none of these players will be in their primes anymore anyway.resnor likes this. -

And QB's taken near the top of 1st don't fare too much better than those taken anywhere in 1st round. So I'm hoping if we get a high 1st, we trade down a bit to get two 1st rounders out of it and pick a QB with one of those.
I also personally don't care what the state of the rest of the team is regarding picking a QB high.. you have to try to fix the QB position this upcoming draft with as high a probability pick as possible, meaning 1st rounder, though I will say there is a sweet spot at top of 2nd for decent QB's because teams at the bottom of the 1st rarely pick QBs (they're better teams and usually don't need a QB). -
Or make trade with Denver they have 2 young QBs. I'll take me some Trevor siemian -
