Are we crazy to think we will be at least A LITTLE better than last??

Thats okay, USA Today has us 32nd on their power rankings.

The predictive agencies that have actual methodologies and may actually have a financial interest in accurate predictions(Las Vegas, Football Outsiders, etc.) have the Dolphins at 7-7.5 wins
Those are much more credible than Don Banks or Mike Florio.DolfanTom, gafinfan, RickyNeverInhaled and 8 others like this. -
I have no idea why anyone thinks we won't finish last. We are rebuilding with a rookie QB

Nothing compared to a few teams that are 5.5 though.

Get used to it. We are a bottom five team in terms of talent and we are starting a rookie qb. No one is going to pick us high because rookie qbs typically don't even get to 500. To put it in perspective 4 teams since 1950 have had a 10 win season with a rookie qb. Quite honestly if we get to 7 wins I consider this season to be a success. That will have shown me we may have a good qb for the first time in like 15 years (save for one year of penny) and that the team has bought in to what Philbin is pitching.

And last year we had better records than a few of them.RickyNeverInhaled likes this. -
That’s pretty funny. Last year he rated Denver 29, SF 30 and Cincy 31.

I can see us finishing ahead of Cleveland, maybe Seattle and Washington too, but a game behind Indy -
jboogie The sky is NOT falling!

Well, not saying it means much of anything but at around this time last year a lot of folks had the Bengals as being the team that would finish dead last in the league.

It's literally hard knocks, as the Dolphins have another down season with a new coaching staff, rookie QB and grumbling locker room. They'll face a decision in 2013 on staying with Tannehill or drafting Matt Barkley of USC with the No. 1 overall pick, and will opt for Barkley to help sell tickets in apathetic South Florida.

Well this guy has an even worse outlook for us. Go big or go home. -

Who?

No reason in the world to question or blame the national media for picking us last. If you want to blame someone point your finger at Ross. This team has gotten worse every year since he bought the team. -
We got rid of our #1 CB and WR and did not replace them.
Our #2 WR missed all pre season with a re-occuring injury. We are starting a rookie QB with a new coach, OC and DC.
And converting from a 3-4 to a 4-3 and from a run first offense to a pass first offense.
We looked terrible during pre season.
And our best OL man is injured again like last year, and the year before.
Oh yeah our own GM said we have #4, 5 and 6's for wr's. Soooooo our best wr would not even be a starter on a playoff team.
Remind me again why the media should not dog pile on us. -

Langford was a huge reason we were 3rd in the NFL last year Vrs the run. He is way under appreciated by this fan base. -
Our 1st team was not outplayed? You must have watched a different team.
SS is not close to VD.
All thses changes I mentioned might be upgrades, but changes this big take time to work and we have to replace alot more of our roster to be effective in the WC offense and 4-3. -
-
I think we need to wait and see, clearly we are not a playoff team, but I feel that we will surprise a lots of people, including and I'm sorry to say this, a lots of fellow Dolphins fans from this board, that appear to me that instead of supporting our team in a difficult time are full of negativity, and is becoming a little depressing JMHO

Either way you win. They do better then that and it's good..if not you win a little cash and it's good ;p -
At this point with no great recievers and a talented rookie Qb starting, I'd pick us last too. I don't have much hope for the year but I do like how things are shaping up down the road. One thing is for certain, this is a team with alot of young players and for us to have any kind of a respectable season they're gonna have to grow up quick.

And historically how accurate has Banks been at picking the bottom team before the season starts?

Get used to it. With the least talented team in the entire NFL and a rookie QB with nothing around him, a bottom 5 record is pretty much a guarantee.
-
For over 6.5 you still get +115.
And under 6.5 you are still getting -150!
That means that if you bet under 7.5 you have to bet 275 to win 100!!!
And that means for under 6.5 you have to bet 150 to win 100
Basically the betting world thinks Miami is clearly a below 6.5 win team and is trying to entice people to bet the over by setting it at +115 rather than betting the underschmolioot and LandShark13 like this. -
his inaccuracies from last season aside, what do you expect? until this team sheds the clown car image it has around the league, they will continue to be viewed as failures. i could care less what national people say about the dolphins. i know this season will be rough. until the dolphins get it right and start winning, they'll be predicted to finish at the bottom and looking at the roster this season, can you blame ANYONE for saying the dolphins will suck?
