I thought there was a 20% chance that we would draft the guy before Parcells was hired but after firing Cameron the ties that Beck had going for him just disappeared. Beck is not a Parcells type and with Matt Ryan available for the new coach (Sparano is about a 90% probability at this point) I would put that probability at about 50%. Parcells took Bledsoe with number one overall so the argument that he never drafts QBs that high doesnt exist. To me its either Ryan, Gholston or Long, whoever impresses Parcells the most at the Senior Bowl and combine. Trading down might not be the option as it was before if they fall in love with one of these guys

I dont see it...certainly not at #1 overall.
So much has to happen between now and draft day it beyond the realm of sanity to even begin to speculate. I just dont see drafting another QB on day one of the draft unless we stock pile a whole bunch of picks.Last edited: Jan 3, 2008 -
Zero.

he wont be wearing a Dolphins uniform Ireland said in his interview that he and the cowboys were high on Beck
-

Beck only has 4 1/2 games under his belt.
-
LETS THE GAMES BEGIN.... Im telling you you will hear tons of I love this guy talk prior to the draft..
Also Beck has a shot, he has to have a good Offensive Coach to open up the playbook and chuck the ball deep.
We actually hold some nice cards for this hand of poker, and a good poker player! -
we can't give up on him yet
-
Ryan wont be drafted by Miami so dont get your hopes up. Ireland has said good things about Beck. Beck was put in a tough place for a rookie when your star running back is out and your best wide reciever is a rookie. Absolutely no impact at tight end. I think Beck could do good things next year.

It sounds like your the one in love with Matt Ryan. When Parcells drafted Bledsoe the Patriots hadn't drafted a qb in the second round the year prior. I bet you were also a BIG Brady Quinn advocate. We aren't drafting Matt Ryan so you'll have to find ways to fall in love with Dorsey unless we trade down. Beck is the future for now. In coming week I bet you hear kind words from the Parcels camp about Beck. Much to your dissapointment I'm sure!Last edited: Jan 3, 2008 -
he wont be wearing any number for us unless its a number we pick in the 3rd

Here's the quote
"We're still in the process of evaluating," Ireland said of the quarterbacks. "I know Beck from the college draft last year, but I've got to sit down and really evaluate what you have here and we'll make those decisions. We were high on Beck (in last year's draft), absolutely."
The first part sounds like the same speech Parcells gave about Cameron. The second part is definitely more optimistic. Then again maybe they just got drunk on Becks. Just kidding. We'll seeLast edited: Jan 3, 2008 -

im not believing anything the Staff has to say about not drafting who or what.
We have the #1 pick. Were going to here Rumors left and right till Goodell is on that podium. -
This year seriously is just kind of a down year for us though. The best players in this draft are guys we don't immediately need (and yet we need just about every other position).
Next year is poised to be incredibly deep, so look for a middle of the road year just to knock us out of contention for getting anyone franchise worthy. -
Ireland saying he was high on Beck doesn't mean anything. What was Ireland supposed to say? That Beck has no tools, no skill, nor anything else we're looking for in a QB? I'm not suggesting he or I REALLY think these things about Beck. But Ireland wasn't going to come in and immediately start trashing the players and give zero votes of confidence. Even if Ireland and company ARE high on Beck, that doesn't mean they feel Beck is the guy the want to lead this team. I'm not going to flat out bet that we draft a QB with our first pick, but I'm not going to dismiss it 100% either.

Adam, let me start by saying I love you man..Seriously you have always been one of my favorites on here...now then:
WE ARE NOT DRAFTING MATT RYAN. (.) PERIOD...not unless we trade out of the first round all-together... got it?
Second. Dorsey's ailment isnt his back, its his knee which was compromised on a VERY dirty play.
Even hurt, he STILL demanded double and triple teaming...He is the real deal..that being said. I would be alright with he or Chris Long with our first pick -
-
what makes Beck a not-parcells guy? im guessing the only thing you can thing of is his height? but Romo is also only 6'2" so i dont know what makes you say that

Now the Cutler thing I can agree on. I think he was the ONLY QB worthy of a top 10 pick
-
So we draft Ryan. Which pick did we waste? The 2nd on Beck or the 1st on Ryan? Will we have a first round pick at all? If Parcells goes after Anderson it will at least take our first rounder and he will go after a vet. More picks and money out the window every time we start over.
Everyone would be calling for Ryans head by game 3 cause he isnt Marino. -
Hahaha...For Dorsey to weigh between 210 and 215 he would have to lose over 100 lbs..
 -
What's going to be strange about the number he wears for us is that its going to be on a Falcons jersey...

Ahhh Jay Cutler.
If we had keep our 2nd round pick we traded for Culpepper, it would have made enough with our 16th pick to trade down to 9th place and take Jay Cutler.
I raved over that for 6 months......... -
i'll ask again, why is Beck not a Parcells type?
