Sparano and Co should get 2 - 3 more years to put this thing together.
I understand everyone has their panties in a wad and it is natural to be calling for heads and wholesale changes.
The fact is making changes for the sake of making changes is never good. It takes 5 - 8 years to rebuild a team into a superbowl caliber team and most of us are only giving Sparano 3 years...........hog wash................he needs and deserves more time
Year 1 Sparano implemented his systems and coaches and went 11-5, evaluated talent and decided where he needed to make changes. Remember guys we totally changed our Defense.
Year 2 Sparano drafted, traded, and again evaluated talent with a mass of injuries. We got to get the first look at Chad Henne for 6 games. A peek if you will.
Year 3 Sparano looked to have things in place for a decent run. We were aware we had the top 5 hardest schedule in the league. We got Mike Nolan, Cammerron Wake emerging as a all pro, and our prize QB getting a entire year at the helm.............everyone was excited. We were improving........we DID improve.
We have several key injuries, A QB that plays like **** all year and under enormous pressure to perform , a field goal kicker hitting 61 yard field goals then can't make a field goal to save his life, a team that literally just showed up and went through the motions in several games, not just the last one and here we are 7-9
Sparano deserves to keep his job.
Sparano needs more time. 3 years is not enough. Changing is setting us back another 3-5 years. The real question here is can Sparano get it done with another 3 years time. I think he can and will if given the chance. It may not be obvious on the surface of our improvements, fans that follow the Phins everyday know where we have improved. Those fans can see the improvement.
To those of you who demanded we see Chad Henne and didn't care if we lost every game. Now you saw your man, we are 7-9, and some of you guys are the very ones calling for Sparanos head. That just isn't right!!!! You can't have your cake and eat it too. Well you could have if Henne played better:up:

"It takes 5 - 8 years to rebuild a team into a superbowl caliber team"
Bullcrap. See: Ravens, Falcons
"Year 1 Sparano implemented his systems and coaches"
Year 1 Sparano lucked himself into a healthy Pennington and the weakest schedule for a team to make the playoffs since the wildcard format. "His" coaches were Pasqusucky (fired), Bonoloser (fired), and Henning (senile)
"Year 2 Sparano drafted, traded and again evaluated talent with a mass of injuries. We got to get the first look at Chad Henne for 6 games. A peek if you will."
Pat White, Pat Turner, etc. We saw Henne for 13 games. We saw what he could do well, and 90% could see what he needed to work on. Problem is, this coaching staff can only develop QB's into baseball players.
"Year 3..."
1-7 at home, embarrassed on 3 prime-time games, asking your FG kicker to win EVERY game for you. Supporting your bat-sh!t insane OC while saying the players gotta execute. Churning the bottom of the roster every 15 minutes to keep the shine on the turd that was special teams. Showing consistent clock mis-management, game-day activations and de-activations which were questionable all season. Coaching Chad Henne from the confident yet work-in-progress QB we saw into someone who looks like they've never taken a snap before.
He should've been fired at halftime yesterday.dolfan32323, Rick 1966, BrazForPhins and 3 others like this. -
yeah I agree. He built an excellent defense and one that is built with youth so it should be around for the next five years. Let them fix the offense now and take it year by year. If they fix the offense the way they did the defense we will win a Super Bowl with this regime. If they merely improve this offense to middle of the pack we will be in the playoffs.

A change is needed, we just lost to NE's 2nd stringers, come on now. Especially with persons like Cowher available. We are competing against two excellent coaches in Rex and Bill and we need a proven strong coach. If not Cowher then maybe Gruden. Henne may be a decent back up in this league but he is not a starter, no way. Either we draft Newton or Mallet or we make a run at McNabb. Marshall is in his prime so McNabb would be preferable. The D is actually OK. Sign McNabb and maybe VJACK if the salary cap allows it. Bring back Brown, not Ricky. And see what happens. Even at that we'll be 2nd string to NE, who have all those draft picks this year, Brady in his prime and a super young D thats improving. It was disheartening watching their 2nd and 3rd stringers dominate. Super sad.

Sorry 2socks, but IMO it's time for Tony to meet with the boss. And, anyone that's ever seen a good mob movie knows it's never good when the boss wants to see you. :lol:Rick 1966, DolfanJake and Ducken like this. -

If nothing more than being a Henning enabler, throwing his players under the bus for poor execution of archaic game plans, and as recently as 12 days ago stating he'd love him back next season as OC, Sparano should be pink-slipped on grounds of cluelessness. I used to be in his camp, wrote off his boneheaded game decisions as part of a learning curve, but now have as much faith in his vision as I do Stevie Wonder safely driving my kid's school bus.

Time out that are called because you QB is lost 3/4 of the time. 2 minute offense....Henne can't run the straight up offense. I would rather take 3 then 0. Not saying 3's are gonna win the game all the time. But there are 4 suspect losses that could have been avoided by the players executing better. I don't remember exactly who everyone was on this board insisting Henne play, Henne play. Sparano gives into the pressure, Henne plays like dog **** and now everyone wants his head.......I cry foul, the man deserves more time -
You don't deserve a job as an NFL head coach when you can't beat the Lions at home or a Jake Delhomme led Browns team at home. Or when you lose the last 3 games of the season 2 years in a row. These are crucial failures against bad teams. 2-3 more years? Is that a joke? I could see an argument for one more season, but 2-3? Not a chance. 2008 was more about Chad Pennington than it was Tony Sparano.

"His systems" have shown be be predictable and based on everything having to happen perfectly in order for the team to be successful. There is zero room for error in the way he coaches.
The QB doesn't have to be All-Pro, but Henne clearly is a shell of himself, and Pat White is a minor-league prospect right now.
There were at least 3 games this year in which we didn't have timeouts when it was time for the 2-minute offense to take the field in the 4th quarter. Pittsburgh, Detroit, and the first NYJ games are ones that pop into my head.DolfanJake likes this. -

What is the one thing that does not stand out with Miami.........Chad Henne
Replace Henne and with no other changes we are a 3-4 win better teamparcellsguy likes this. -
I will reiterate we were just dominated by NE's 2nd and 3rd stringers. I think the towel boy played in the fourth quarter and made a sack! We won ONE game at home. A CHANGE IS NEEDED!!

The ravens have always been a QB away from being good. A team that Bellick built years ago. It's the foundation that is important. Flacco has taken 3 years of playing to get where he is. Not 2 years of holding a clip board, then playing. I still think the playbook has purposefully been dumbed down because of Henne's inabilities. They tried to get him to do the basics this year then build him up slowly. Something is not clicking and Sparano has given up. Problem for us was Pennington went down 2 plays into replacing Henne. Kind of sh*tty to blame that on Sparano

"a team that literally just showed up and went through the motions in several games, not just the last one"
That right there is enough reason to make a change. If the HC can not get his team up to play, then he is in the wrong position. Teams year in and year out that have no chance for a playoff birth go out and play hard for their coach, and those are the teams that seem to come back the next year stronger. The teams that lay down, like this team just did, are the ones in big trouble if no change is made. Then you add in that after 3 years he still has not learned how to manage the clock, does not seem to know how to change gears in the middle of a game, is loyal to a coach that the game has passed by and calls a real crappy game. Does not seem to coach to his players strengths (see Ronnie Brown).
I admire your willingness to stick with him and give him more time but, I can't for the life of me think of one reason to retain him.DolfanJake and 2socks like this. -

Please take a look at his stats and tell me how it has taken 3 years?? His rookie season was pretty darn good, and his 2nd year stats I would take every year from my QB and be well pleased. And Henne did not hold the clipboard for 2 years he started 13 of our 16 games his 2nd year.DolfanJake and DePhinistr8 like this. -

He would of gained faith in the fans eyes if he would of cut loose Henning before the season's end. The fact that he let Henning drag him down all the way to week 17 shows me all i need to know about the guy. From a business stand-point if Ross doesn't fire him today he is going to have a rough time selling tickets next year due to the abysmal home record this year, thats just the way it is in Miami. That said Ross is a smart businessman and there are a few great names out there available right now and would definitely raise an eyebrow regardless of whether or not you like Sparano and would attract the masses next year, see where im getting at here. For the record, lets not be the experimental franchise ever again hopefully by hiring a guy with 0 solid background in offense or defense to "RUN" your football team. The man was an O-Line coach and our oline crumbled this year. His lack of offensive knowledge is the reason i would assume he let henning get him fired and his lack of defensive knowledge, well we all know what happened there, god bless Nolan for giving us a bright spot this season.

Hard to really indict a coach that managed to win 7 games with Chad Henne as his QB.
Having said that, we really don't have enough info to really know who in the organization supported Chad Henne, or if Sparano indicated he thought Henne could be a successful QB.djphinfan likes this. -

I can prove my point thru history.........5 coaches since 96 when Shula retired. What do we have to show for it.......mediocrity 113-111 -
Teams that are winning teams consistently stick with their coach
Pittsburg.....Cowher is a perfect example
We have had 5 coaches since Shula and 17 different QB's. We are 113-111
Sparano deserves more time to make adjustment and corrections
Jesus, you guys screamed for Chad Henne...............he gives it to you and now you guys want his head:pity: -

Up to the midpoint of the year I would have agreed with most.
However, it's become readily apparent to me that the majority of the issues you just listed lay on the coaching staff.
This team underperformed with the talent it has.
Everyone can tell me all they want that this team has no talent on offense and I'll remind all of you that going into the year we looked at the personnel we had and everyone thought our offense would be strong this year.
The QB issue and whether Henne has no skill or if he's been killed by an inept staff will go on forever.
The injuries are what they are.
The real tell all you said yourself. "The team literally just showed up and went through the motions for a number of games".
That's coaching, preperation and motivation plain and simple. That is a cause from the top and nowhere else. A damning argument against Sparano and crew.
Why I do now believe this whole staff except for Nolan has to go. Sparano, Henning and Daivd Lee are the top 3 needing a first class ticket out of town pronto.Colorado Dolfan and Ducken like this.
