Sherman joked that there must be a “rule” the offense can’t top a certain amount of points. (The Dolphins are the only team that hasn’t scored at least 28 in a game.)
“We still hit that ceiling,” Sherman said. “What’s wrong with scoring 30-35 points? Gosh dang, we had so many opportunities and left points on the field.”

On another note, Sherman drives me nuts, but I do enjoy reading him and listening to him.k-bayfinfan and cuchulainn like this. -

ATM, looks like Wallace and Bline both will top 1k yds, it's been a long time since that has happened in Miami (Wallace has 784 or so, Bline is around 803)
Clay is down around 580 yds, not likely he'll crack 1k in 4 gmsDOLPHAN1 likes this. -

I really think Keller would have been a difference maker for our red zone offense.MikeHoncho, 77FinFan and cuchulainn like this.
Fans? This is what fans do. They discuss players... No one said Clay wasn't having a good season. He is, but Keller would have have been more dynamic, ran better routes, and a better RZ target. As nice a season as Clay is having, he has done nothing to make us miss Keller, though he is better than Fasano, but in fairness Fasano was used mostly to help shore up the spotty RT position.
I think "Drops" is one area PFF has gotten quite wrong, what they think are "catchable" balls would have Fred Biletnikoff dislocating shoulders trying to catch
Especially on crossing routes with the ball thrown behind the receiver
But they are consistent with their grades and expect guys to make difficult catches. That's what separates average receivers from great ones.
Clay is the 6th ranked TE in yards. He is around 12th in TDs and catches... and #14 in 1st downs among TEs as per NFL.com : http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...archive=false&conference=null&qualified=false
Clay has been quite solid and a nice surprise, but we can still probably afford to be more dynamic in that spot. Gotta look for those mismatch guys like Gronk/Graham/Davis imo. Definitely a place for Clay on the team though.

I like Clay. Keller's '13-'14 season is history but I found Sherman's comments about the two of them worth mentioning. He is praising Clay but also Keller after the fact. Makes me wonder what his plans were for the offense throughout the season with the two of them and what that might have meant for the other guys on the team.
Egnew might have never seen the field. Instead, he gets a chance and has made the most of it.
Thing is, unless one has played Wr calling a throw behind on a crossing route a drop is based on subjective, not objective, judgment.
The catch radius in that situation is just tiny, at least a third as large as a regular catch radius b/c momentum and the pads are making it far more then just "difficult"
Going back to preseason I am pretty sure we opened games with both Clay and Keller on the field, and they regularly played together.
Yes, I am sure they were on the field at the same time. I still think that as good a season as Clay has had, Keller would have had a better one and provided a better target in 1st down and RZ situations. Keller is, or was, easily the better receiver. The good thing is that Clay has improved over the previous seasons and is having a career season.
Considering what I consider to be the devastating loss of Keller Clay has been a pleasant surprise.

Yeah. I think this is basically what Sherm was saying.

Imthink Charles clay can be the best FB ever. Better than Larry Centers.
A FB that can line up anywhere on the field. Get a real TE nextbyear andbreally open it up.
