Several defensive ends could be in Miami’s range, but that’s already a position of strength, with Cameron Wake, Olivier Vernon and Dion Jordan, who could play outside linebacker but is viewed as more of an end by this staff. Defensive ends projected for Miami’s draft range include Notre Dame’s Stephon Tuitt (“combination of elite quickness and great size,” Kiper said) and Missouri’s Kony Ealy (eight sacks).
Offensive tackle: Many expect Michigan left tackle Taylor Lewan (rated 10th by McShay, 11th by Kiper) to be gone by 19. Two tackles who could be there: Alabama’s Cyrus Kouandjio and Virginia’s Morgan Moses. But Kouandjio “has been dogged by inconsistency and in particular has been beaten by speed too often,” said Kiper, who rates him 23rd.

I think albert has to be our top priority just cause we are so limited on draft day without a lt.

I like Moses but he hasn't been a LT for long. -

I like Moses as well, as a RT. I think that I like Phinsational's guy better, La'el Collins. He moves well for a huge guy and he's more forceful as a run blocker, a true road grader. Moses is good, but I don't see that push off of the line as I do with Collins. Collins just seems to dominate more- again, I like Moses quite a bit, but I think that the ceiling is higher with Collins. Moses is a good run blocker, Collins is just better imo. But Collins hasn't declared for the draft, we'll see what happens.
My initial impressions for Ogbuehi from Texas A&M were very strong, but he's staying in school. What's going to be interesting is Lewan vs. Kouandjio- Kouandjio can dominate, but Lewan is more well rounded- can Lewan play LT? There were questions about Kouanjio playing LT before the bowl game, and now... I'd still take him at #19 for RT and be done with it, or at least consider it an option. Lewan- I still think that "poor man's Jake Long" applies- could play LT, and he'd be a good RT imo, very nice combination of run and pass blocking. He's darned good, just not the niftiest of guys, good but not great feet. Far cry from Ogbuehi in that regard.
Many don't like the idea of OL in the 1st round, but given our needs I'd be happy if we landed either Lewan or Kouandjio at #19. There's nothing wrong with drafting for need as long a value is there, and I think that either player would provide value at that slot.Stitches likes this. -
I think Stephon Tiutt is really the only guy who is likely to draw consideration at DE for Miami, they've got too many edge defenders. Tiutt can play that closed end position Odrick was playing, and I think you've got to look at him in the light of a Justin Smith or Calais Campbell as a potential interior player.

I've been watching Moses and Kouandjio some this morning. There is a lot more film to go through.
Some quick thoughts:
1. I think Kouandjio is currently a little better when mirroring in pass protection.
2. In both players, when they get their hands on the player in pass pro, it is over.
3. Kouandjio does a very good job of transferring power from his lower body, through his hips, to his upper body. He can stone pass rushers with his hand punch.
4. Both players have good athleticism, but I think they are lacking in hip, knee, and ankle flexibility right now. This may be something that can be developed. -
Koundjio at RT, with solid but not great pass pro and road grader run blocking to bolster our weak running attack, would be fine with me at #19. Might as well fix the OL after Jeff Ireland destroyed it through lousy draft picks and weak FA additions. His Cowboy reject OL plan was obviously not the solution. -

Bring me Kelvin Benjamin, Ebron or Mike Evans at 19. You have two WR'S coming off knee injuries

You've also got to consider that the Dolphins probably have to be a bit more judicious in terms of their passing game additions, as you're reaching a point now there are opportunity costs and snap allocations to worry about as you've got good weapons, and your OC choice will move the offense in a certain direction. A star player would be nice, but significantly less nice if you're unable to utilize a cheap, talented young player who is less of a star but still quality. -
IF......value is there, as they say, I don't see how you can NOT take an OL. We need as much of a SURE THING as there is right now on the line. We have one guy, that would/ SHOULD make it two. We HAVE to get quality for our weakest position so there is less of a gamble to fill the other 3 spots. This is the foundation of the team, and our weakest link. I hope they quit playing around with 'projects' and get some quality in there.

I love Sammy Watkins too but there's no way he gets taken while Wallace is here

Not disagreeing with any of the receivers, well except for Benjamin, but where exactly are these guys going to play? Is RMatthews gone? Is Binns gone? Is Gibson gone?
Would welcome Ebron. He could push Egnew/Sims out and give us a solid trio of TE's.Disgustipate likes this. -
Mckinnie is old, heavy, bad knee and a free agent. Clabo is substandard, overpaid and threatening retirement. Yeatman blew his knee out. Garner is adequate. Is there a worse unit in the NFL than our OL, and I mean any position? Our starting Guards are Brenner and Jerry, 'nuff said. No depth. Aside from Pouncey the OL is a disaster, it's that simple. I wish that we could dump Wheeler and Ellerbe now and send that money straight to fixing the OL. Just wait until next year when Tannehill gets seriously injured if we don't revamp the OL and protect him, that'll be the capper.ATLFINFAN likes this. -
Dominique Easley in the 3rd would be more appealing to me as a closed end option considering the draft pick involved.
By the time the draft rolls around I could see Moses garnering 1st round attention as a potential RT solution. -
Keller is gone tho, so theres no "trio". I dont think we need any tes either personally. This pick has to go to the trenches -

As much as I'm a defensive dominant type guy, I think there are some critical variables in play that dictate what type of identity we should adopt to..and to me that's being a dominant offense..
Rebuild the oline using the 2/2 philosophy..find two starters in free agency, get your one sure thing hi in the draft, and see if the new GM can do his job and find a sleeper in the draft..
Get your first round Olineman, you need a hi amount of talent infused, and you can't take chances this year. With the amount of film you have on free agents you should be able to get your two starters there, then your first round pick should be plug and play..that's three staters right there.
2nd round it comes down to best weapon on the board..tight end..running back...wide receiver..whichever one is the highest rated go for it.
I think I've said this every year for a decade or more..we need a skilled explosive returner..gandalfin likes this.
