I do expect Ireland to take a Tackle, I think he is such a balless wonder that it will seem like a logical move when reality is, you need playmakers, they are found normally in the upper portions of the draft, we never take them, thus we have none and expect the trend to continue.

Unless Ireland can break out of the Parcellian approach, we will be a .500 team, and that is assuming we keep most of the FA's, which we probably won't.

He does. Part of the reason I'm more intrigued to see what he can do as an actual end than as a defensive tackle.

 

Then this is where I get a bit confused about the Richardson /Floyd debate..I do not see Floyd with this kind of versatility you talk about and I do with Sheldon..they both could play the three technique, but I don't believe Floyd has the agility and speed to play outside. I do with Richardson...If the kid runs in the 4.7's as he predicts, combined with your inclination that he could play outside, would you move him to the top of our list for a defensive player at 12?

Problem is, if he runs that fast, he won't last.

If they think a 30 year old Randy Starks is wearing down and don't want to give him the seven million a year he's asking then you kick Odrick inside next to Soliai and you take Richardson and play him right end. Not only does it give you a stallion at end, he and Odrick are interchangeable and that is a nice option to have!!

But it can't be worse or more pointless than what we've seen from him at End. We could get the same level of play from Derrick Shelby or Olivier Vernon, very nearly.

 

Fisher at this point appears more likely to go first of the two, and less likely be on the board when we pick. I think that's why many seem to mention Johnson more often. I've not seen a mock draft yet with Fisher available at 12. Several have shown Johnson available, most of them do. It seems either Arizona at 7 or San Diego at 11 are most often mocked as taking Fisher.

The annual "I'm not working out at the NFL Combine" parade as begun. Keenan Allen and Barkley are the first two I've seen mentioned.

If guys have legit injuries issues I am cool with that. But, if as some evaluators have intimated these guys are creating BS excuses just to opt out, then I think they should just remove those guys who are doing that and add others who were originally left off the list and willing to participate.

 

I don't see any reason to believe Miami wouldn't take a WR at #12 if there was one there they liked. I just don't see the value in either of the WRs being projected at #12 relative to the ones projected in the second round.

 

Allen is really struggling with injury. His is legit. I think Barkley's shoulder is legit too.

 

Tackle is deep this year I'd be pretty upset if we went tackle at 12.

 

there is always a perception before the draft that the draft is "deep" at this position or that position but that might not always end up to be the truth. i have heard a lot of people say this draft is deep at WR, and while i agree, last year's draft was considered deep at the position too and out of all the WRs taken in the 2nd or later only TY Hilton and Givens made much of an impact right away. I would take Patterson over any WR in this draft and last year's draft. you might disagree, but my point is, Patterson is worth taking at #12. i think the comparisons to Julio are legit, they're both 6-3, CP is not as big and physical as Julio but he's just as explosive and he's actually better in the open field.

 

Last year's draft was by no means considered deep. Where did you get that impression?

This is where short sighted lack of vision bites guys like Ireland in the ***. To move Odrick inside and have him not wear down in Starks role, he needs to put on ten pounds, maybe fifteen. That takes time, meaning you have to know ahead of time, have a plan, and ask him to start bulking up now... Not after the draft.

 

I don't have nearly as high of an opinion on Patterson. I would have had Blackmon well above Patterson. I have CP about with Kendall Wright from last year. I think he has upside, but also bust potential. I would prefer to take Bailey or Hopkins in the 2nd this year. I also don't see last year's WR draft as deep.
