You might want to watch that play again- I saw Williams surge forward almost two yards with fantastic blocking. Only, the refs didn't bother to give him forward progress like they somehow did on the safety a few plays earlier...which is still mind boggling in itself. But I certainly didn't see an offensive line that "sucks big time" in the play you're referencing.

 

Add 17 penalties to the officiating nightmare of this game. Only about 1/2 should have been called. No call PI on Evans on the first int. The Offensive PI call that took away a TD. Defensive holding on Suh, really? Dolphins were pretty sloppy but the refs were wrong a LOT this game.

 

I completely agree....there were so many blown calls against us and for the other team. Despite all of that though I think Moore would have won the game if he had an extra minute or two on the clock at the end there.

 

That safety was hilarious. I don't think the ref truly understands the rules on forward progress. If I catch a bomb at the opposition's 5 yard line and instead of waltzing into the end zone, I decide to turn on my team and run back toward my own end zone because I hate my team, then get tackled in my own end zone without being touched anywhere else on the field...that ref today says my forward progress was to the other team's 5. So we have first and goal at their 5, not a safety for the other team. I don't complain about refs much, but WTF?

Maybe we'll thank that ref on draft day.

 

But that's an awful lot of false starts for a team that is supposed to be disciplined, which was really the one thing I was counting on when we got Gase.
BTW did anyone else almost fall out of their chair when the announcer said Bushrod was one of the most consistent players on our line? That was a reality check for me, because I'm not sure who has been a whole lot better.

i did wonder why suddenly on most important drive of game we decided to stop blitzing, when that is what helped the defense so much in the second half. just blows the mind, yet so typical of this coaching staff.

 

If what the ref called was "correct", that means there's no such thing as a safety or sack in the NFL. Think about it....the QB obviously starts at the line of scrimmage every single play...wouldn't that automatically be forward progress too? I just couldn't believe how ridiculous that was.

To rub salt in the wound though, the same ref didn't give Williams forward progress on that 4th and 1. You see the LOS, you see Pouncey and the guard punch forward 2 yards, and you see Williams right on top of them and a pulling guard pushing him from behind. But somehow, we only advance the ball two feet? It was pure insanity....you can see from the initial surge he DEFINITELY went about a yard and a half.

 

I was watching the rams game and Philly game yesterday and i was literally asking how they turned their teams around so quickly, look at Philly they had chip Kelly disaster and it took them 3 years, ill say it again 3 years to turn it around into the best team in the league or record if you don't believe their the best team with a new coach and a qb. Look at the rams theirs took about 3 years as well even thought they have been rebuilding for a lot longer but they started their 0-line work a few years ago then drafted a qb then they fired fisher last year they were horrible last year and they have a good line and good/great defense and now they are going to win the NFC west which is incredible, they got rid of a coach and drafted a QB and now looking for a bright future.

I also believe we lose Landry at this point which I am going to be very upset to watch him on another team strive with his top tier talent.

After watching the team when Moore came in, the team was in such a different place i mean the announcers said it over and over they were playing with a renewed vigor, this to me is why gase should be fired, he went with cutler and it was his biased opinion of cutler not the teams best interest and that is not the person i want as a HC when hes using personal relationship instead of whats best for the team. I do not think Moore is so great but when the team plays harder knowing hes taking snaps and believes in him and the ability difference between cutler and Moore is non existent to minimal you have to play whats best for team. Ya he had a horrible showing against the ravens on a short week. i just wonder what if Moore had played the first half yesterday that's a W, no? what if he would have been playing this whole time could we have gotten Oakland and the first meeting with the jets? I am not even basing that on Moore scoring a million points I am saying does the team play better, does Ajayi not get traded? i mean after watching the different team in the second half yesterday its hard not to imagine where we would be in Moore had been playing because i strongly agree with Steven A smith on this statement and only this statement, cutler is a disease.

I hate watching games and being the blunt of everyone jokes, i was sick of hearing Chris Collinsworth talk about the Ajayi trade over and over and pretty much in a non directional way saying Miami was dumb and making jokes, we have became more of a joke to the league than the win less browns.

the safety was a joke, but in respect to the rule book, forward progress is only when the defense stops you from moving forward so when a qb runs back on his own that's not the same, but i get what your trying to say. I knew they weren't going to give us that 4th and short just because we didn't get enough of a push but i thought the spot would have been a lot closer the refs were terrible, i don't even care about the 4th and 1 give us the safety and we probably win the game.

 

How can you say there was no plan? If RT was healthy this season, "the plan" was the Super Bowl. Our defense has looked great at times this season and so has our offense before RT went down. Hell, the offense looked great yesterday under Moore...I don't see how anyone can say that they didn't. The refs handed that game to Tampa with about 6 mind-boggling calls to take points off the board and kill drives.

Everything you're saying though is based on Tannehill getting hurt in a non-contact injury in practice. Did Indy clear house after Manning got hurt and they went from a 15-1 team to 1-15 (in the suck for luck year)? Will Tennessee do the same this season with Watson hurt? Or Green Bay without Rodgers?

I realize that losing sucks and none of us are happy, but our problem all year has been Jay Cutler and Jay Ajayi. We fixed one of those issues and there's no clear answer for the 2nd EXCEPT Matt Moore. I just don't understand what you expect Gase to do here...you're literally asking the franchise to fire everyone because of one lousy hire when there weren't any good options in the first place.

 

In all honesty it doesn't surprise me, we ran the same zone coverage all day, think about how many time fitzy hit the same 12 yard post between the lbs under the safety? Burke wasn't doing his job that's what i was so mad about was the stupid zone coverage they hit a crucial one on the final drive and I thin Evans caught 2-3 in the first half i could be wrong though it could have been one of the other receiver.

 

I blame cutler and gase. after the 2nd INT i was saying bench cutler, the stupid concussion was just a ploy so cutler didn get benched again hahaha jk

 

I understand you mean the plan is always to win the SB but we all know that’d never happen with Tannehill and Gase, especially now that Ajayi is gone and Wake is another year older.

You also can’t compare those situations you brought up because all those QBs (including Luck replacing Manning) were/are better than Tannehill and their backups were far worse. We’ve already seen that Moore isn’t much of a dropoff from Tannehill as a Dolphin, but Gase just had to start HIS guy. Although maybe it isn’t about starting his guy because he went with Foster over Ajayi...

How exactly did we fix the Ajayi issue? Is fixing giving away your best offensive player to the team with the best record for next to nothing and continuing to suck?

 

i agree with the cutler thing that was horrible, but that in lies Gases decision making, if ajayi was so hard to control how the hell can he go into Philly and makes strides after 2 weeks if he didnt want to do "homework" and learn? i just find it hard for a guy who strive in last years offense and all of a sudden this year he doesn't know what hes doing but in 2 weeks he can go into Philly and catch screen passes and stuff, i literally point it at cutler the guys brings everyone down we still don't have a 100 yard rusher without ajayi and i know its been 3 weeks. Maybe Ajayi played his card so great that he wanted out because cutler brings the whole team down i don't know though. I think it all points at Cutler to me maybe the team lost all respect for Gase once he grabbed cutler and we started sucking and maybe Ajayi said F it i don't know though just my opinion.

 

i agree, maybe Gase and Ajayi mixed like oil and water and gase just never really cared for him, but that in terms says everything of how Gase isnt a head coach, if he didn't like Ajayi and he just said "im taking my ball and going home" sort of thing and was like ill trade you. There's a lot of HC and players that dont "get along" but that is where the HC is supposed calm the water on both sides and "be professional" to WIN GAMES.

 

ya his EGO is extremely high of himself, and i think that all boils everything down, i dont think you can simply point 1 finger at Ajayi of a reason we didn't win and when he did pretty much point him out i think it was personal.

 

But that's the thing...the QB was right on the goal line when he collided with his own player...it was questionable if the ENTIRE BALL was out of the end zone at that point (that's what the head ref for the NFL said in the live chat during the game...if any part of the ball is across the line, it's a safety). He was still on his feet at that point though and trying to scramble over people, and still untouched by any defender. I just don't see how you can go under the tarp, review that play from multiple angles and still blow the call a 2nd time.

I get what you're saying, but that's not how that ref interpreted the NFL rules for that one play. We stopped the QB from moving forward about 2 yards deep in the end zone...that was the first point of contact. But then he ruled exactly the opposite on the Williams run, spotting us where Williams went down instead of his progress forward.

Blowing one "forward progress" call is unfortunate, but getting both of them 100% wrong within a 5 minute span with two completely different interpretations of the rule...what are the odds?

 

That one was at least close- maybe he made it, maybe he didn't. There were so many other calls that weren't close at all though.
