I can't find the proof on this, but I read that during the history between Miami and Pittsburgh shows that each time they faced each other in the playoffs, the winner goes to the Super Bowl. So if history repeats itself, perhaps we have a chance at the Super Bowl.
What do you think of this?

Hey I don't want to jinx it but I did read that somewhere. If I find it, I'll post it here.

Yeah just look at the playoff histories:

In 1972 and 1984 we went to the SB after playing Pittsburgh, and in 1979 Pittsburgh went to the SB after playing us.dolfan7171 likes this. -

Gotta love the factoids from a time when both of these franchises were at the height of their powers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers made the SB, because of the O they can roll out, they can beat any team, and if their O gets on a roll, they become difficult to beat for any team.
The Steelers will have practically everybody back and healthy for this game too, no better time than now for a team to get healthy for getting to the SB. -
The other WC team that could make things really interesting is the Giants. Can Eli get hot in the playoffs again?
If the Giants can get past GB they are probably the one team Dallas doesn't want to face (Dallas lost both times to them this year) and can you imagine a 3rd NE-Giants SB?? As much as I hate NE.. IF they go to the SB and lose again to the Giants, WOW that would I think actually HURT Brady's legacy. Dangerous ideas I know.. best to hope NE doesn't make it, but still. NE losing 3 times in the SB to the Giants would make my day (year) haha!dolfan7171, danmarino and resnor like this. -
If Pittsburgh is the only team that can beat NE, but we end up beating Pitt, then wouldn't we be able to beat NE?
It's simple logic.TheOne, dolfan7171, danmarino and 1 other person like this. -
Styles make fights and transitivity doesn't always work in sports (i.e. A>B and B>C doesn't imply A>C).
Having said that, if we can beat Pittsburgh given all our injuries.. we're NOT facing a more difficult challenge in NE or any game afterwards so yeah in this case I agree that IF we can beat Pittsburgh we can beat NE in their arena in January in the playoffs. -
As much as I may want to agree with this, the two games this season would suggest otherwise.

We did learn something from both NE games though that should help improve the odds next time: in both games, once we went to a hurry-up offense the offense dramatically improved. Gase HAS to understand that and go hurry-up from the outset next time.MikeHoncho and danmarino like this.

And was Gase going vanilla this last game? It sure looked like he was.shula_guy, MikeHoncho, resnor and 1 other person like this.

Well, at times football has a large degree of 'rock-paper-scissors' to it. Team A owns Team B, and Team B can smack down Team C, but Team C gives Team A all kinds of fits. It is a game of match-ups.
