He was worth keeping around just for what he did to the Jets in those 2 games. But we dumped him because he couldn't play WR and have had no one worth 2 ****s to return kicks since. Oh, but we have Nolan Carrol. :pity:

I know it's the trendy thing around here to second guess every personnel move the Dolphins make simply for the sake of argument, but trading Ted Ginn for a 5th round pick was a ****ing joke. A ****ing joke.

You would think a coach who preaches "all three phases of the game" and supposedly puts such an onus on special teams would find a way to keep one of the best return men in the NFL on his roster.

That "crappy player" just won the 49ers the game. Just like he won us the Jets game 2 years ago.

 

Even worse is that we tried to make him our go to receiver and hardly ever used him on kick returns and never on punt returns. That was absolutely ridiculous.

Sparano preaches about the "hidden yardage" battle all the time. And yet lets go a guy who amassed over 1500 yards a year. It makes no sense.

I always thought Ginn got an underserved rep, he was what he was, to me, I'm just happy the man is having success.

Unbelievable. People are still sticking up for a horrible WR and a guy who is a mediocre returner.

He had his once in a blue moon good game(as a returner). He will fade into obscurity now.

 

Ginn has one great game per season ... he got it out of the way early this year ... time for his great disappearing act for the remaining 15 games

 

Meh. No sleep lost over Ted Ginn here. Good for him and the Niners. He didn't do squat for us and was hated by everyone of us (including the ones who are now jumping off of a cliff because of one great game). He HAD to go. We wouldn't be any better with him, but might be worse.

 

He s not even a good returner- he has one or two good games a year and then has a mediocre per return average. Its not really worth the couple of touchdowns for mediocre return yardage and average.

 

I'm happy for the guy, and I don't really care if he stayed or went. Kid was sort of a victim of his draft status. He shouldn't have ever been picked where he was and was never going to live up to his draft position.
With that said, I didn't like him as a receiver at all.
but anyway...Good for Ted...

 

TBH, one of the unexplored questions is whether a single player, who "wins' one game out of 16 is worth a roster slot?

That I have no answer to, imo a Returner still has to do more then dominate one game, ST is normally good for 1 or 2 wins per yr, for a returner to be worth it they have to do it twice, if not more, imo.

 

I think a player like that is worth a roster spot. I don't know why some coaches seem to dislike having a guy that is exceptional at returns only.
Kinda like how Chicago had Hester as a return demon, and have been trying to turn him into a WR. Early on in Hester's WR growth they took away his return duties, and I think the team suffered for it. Last season he resumes his return duties (along with still playing WR) and probably swayed at least 2 games in the Bears favor with his returns.
