A long shot I'm sure but a nice story and read. Hope some thing goods comes out of it.
Listed on the Dolphins roster at 5 feet 11, 258 pounds, Lane gives new meaning to the term “jumbo back.” Four months before signing with Miami in June, he was even “jumboer.”
By his own calculations, Jorvorskie Lane dropped 44 pounds between February and June, and that’s what enabled him to earn a tryout — and ultimately a contract — with the Dolphins.
Lane had signed a contract with the Orlando Predators in November and was set to start training camp in February, but he had bigger aspirations.
“I said I’m going to try this NFL shot one more time,” Lane said. “I prayed and I prayed. I worked and worked. I prayed and I worked, I worked, and here I am now.”

Yeah, we can only hope that Sherman was right about the kind of player this guy can be if he dropped weight. Rooting for the guy.

It would be nice to have our own version of Ironhead in a Fin jersey.
The "I'm the Juggernaught *****" was a huge bust here.PhinGeneral, Da 'Fins, Ozzy and 1 other person like this. -
LOL forgot about that video... haha. was pretty epic back then.
-
I prefer Jerome Messam tbh, think he is a more polished back who can do more things.
-
Did they try this kid hammering one in yesterday from the 1 yard line ? Watched him in his early days at ATM, kid was really unstoppable on plays like that.
-
That's for sure. Remember his, "look at me, I can run through sheet rock" video? Heck, you and me could do that. Even phinsational could probably run through sheet rock, if it were softened up a bit with a sledge hammer.
DJ couldn't because he'd veer off course and miss altogether, while checking out our bubbles. :shifty:unluckyluciano, TiP54, Fin D and 2 others like this. -
Totally different types of backs Padre.
I love the fact that this kid was dedicated enough to take off the lbs. IF he can keep them off, this kid could be GOLDEN in the redzone and short yardage.
He has incredible feet for a guy this size.
His vision and patience is what I really noticed while he was in college.
He's tough as nails and almost impossible to bring down 1 on 1, AND he has incredible hands out of the backfield. This guy could really be a key to the WCO IMHO.
Can you guys invision IBM trying to bring this guy down in the flat? LMFAO!!!!!MrClean likes this. -
Im on the bandwagon

I agree with this. Messam is a Brandon Jacobs type to me. While Lane is such a unique specimen, I don't know one would compare him to. Best case scenario, perhaps a Jerome Bettis type?
Going back to the days of my youth, perhaps Lane could be a Cookie Gilchrist or Jim Nance type of back. -
-
that was my first thought. Big with twinkle toes can only be compared to the Bus -
No need for a hammer. Just add some water and have the studs about 4 feet or more apart and a girly girl could..
-
...not even gonna...

He could be compared to Natrone Means who used to play for the Chargers in the 1990's.

A lot of running outside that he won't have the speed for at this level. He has great short speed and good burst, but I think NFL lbers will eliminate his effectiveness. In that clip, he didn't have very many 'move the pile' plays...and certainly he won't be very effective breaking loose for the longer passes at this level...but he's fun to watch, that's for sure...Mcduffie81 likes this.
