I frankly don't care that they showed Sam kiss his boyfriend (in fact I was a bit relieved they did), but both them and NFLN absolutely milked the Sam topic way too much IMO.

Similarly they milked Manziel way too damn much.

 

Just as Sam himself has done this whole time.

Ive never seen so much coverage for a 7th round pic. Nearly 5 min on him crying with his bf and look the girls baked him a cake. So sweet.. He lays down with men, awesome.. I'm with Jones on this one "OMG" Can we move on to football now?

The people that think homosexuality is a big deal because its wrong also think the first openly gay player drafted is not a big deal. Seriously, if you guys would just treat gay people like everyone else then it wouldn't be a big deal when something like this happens.

Openly gay you mean. There probably have been gay players drafted in the first round.

 

It's not that cut and dry.

Personally I could care less, think gay people should be treated the same etc etc but when you have Sam running around trying to promote his "Sam-Strong" apparel then it crosses in to attention whoring at it's finest imo.

 

How do you figure? He started the offseason as a 4th round target on most mocks. Then he blew chunks at the combine when he couldn't show that he could make the transition to OLB. So he was stuck as a lightweight 4-3 DE. That's why he slid.

 

I'm more surprised that Craig Loston and Dion Bailey weren't drafted, and that Sam was drafted over them.

From what I have read he was lucky to be drafted period. I'm no NFL expert though so I could be wrong. 4th or 7th he should be known for his football prowess not for his sexual preference and seeing him make front page because he got drafted at #249 tells me it's all about who he is sleeping with, and very little to do with football skills. I wish him the best of luck and hope he is successful (except against us of course) just like every other draftee though..

 

None of that is really his fault. He isn't the one putting it on the front page, or even writing posts about it on a football board.

If he came out gay and the rest of the world said, "So what? Can you play football?" There is no conversation or extra media coverage.

 

Likewise if Don Jones tweeted "OMG" and "Horrible" because Johnny football kissed his gf no one would care either.
