And I still say getting in and out of that ballpark is going to be a pain in the ***. Have we heard anything about a lease extension for playing in Dolphin Stadium for another year or two?PMZQ likes this. -
Desi, it won't happen, so this stadium issue now, is do or die. There is a poison pill in the U of Miami contract that calls for the Marlins to be out, or the U recieves all of the Marlins revenue that would be for the stadium for that season. No way Dolphin Stadium Management is going to let the Marlins play there without the stadium recieving a penny.
Unfortunately Oakland lost its bid the other day to build a new place, and now the ugly "c" word is back in play (that word would be contraction). -
i love this team! i hope we surprise people again....just wish i could afford mlb extra innings :cry: its gunna be completley depressing not being able to see my boys play nightly

Did not know that. That's a major problem. If the Marlins wind up playing in that run-down minor league stadium... what an embarrassment for MLB. Then again, Bud Selig doesn't give a damn about baseball in Florida.PMZQ likes this.

This problem should have been solved by Selig years ago, but I think you hit on a major theme here. The Brewers play Spring ball where ? In AZ, and have always done so. Bud Selig used to own which team ? The Brewers. Where does Selig have his 2nd home ? AZ......
Guess what team got a special loan from MLB to complete and make sure their stadium was built from day one ? :rolleyes: I wonder.....could that be the AZ D'backs ? :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum:
If Selig wanted to he could have bridged that $ 30 million shortfall in 2005 between the City of Miami and the Marlins and gotten the stadium done at that time, but he wouldn't do it, even though he had committed $ 60 million in loans to Colangelo the then owner of the D'Backs for their stadium.
It took until the Spring of 2008 for Selig to send Bob DuPuy his 2nd in command down here to help with the negotiations for the stadium project. Selig also allowed the whole John Henry fiasco, and also made sure that Loria came to South Fla, instead of going with his old franchise to Washington DC. You think its coincidence he did that ? Its because Washington DC metro has a population of 8 million, and South Fla 5 million. Selig would rather Loria screw up in So Fla than in Washington DC. because its a smaller market.

Actually MLB.TV is $ 109.95 for the HD package, and $ 79.95 for the lower package, and the audio package is extremely affordable at just $ 14.95 for the whole season, and yes that includes EVERY game - more than 1000 games for $ 15 !!!!
I have both the Extra Innings on my DirecTV and the MLB.TV so I can look at more than one game at a time. :up:Ray Finkle likes this. -
And then the talking heads blame the people of South Florida for the state of the Marlins. Uh, no, guys, it's hard to root for a team that has chronic instability at the top and along the roster. Some of us manage anyway, but when the commissioner's office is not committed to popularizing and establishing expansion teams, you wind up with problems.
The sad thing is that if Selig doesn't make the Hall of Fame, it'll be more because of steroids and less because of his selective competence in the actual business of baseball. -
I'm convinced the deal is dead. Wouldn't surprise me to hear relocation talks start up again.

There is nowhere to relocate to. Las Vegas ? Their economy is in worse shape than So Fla. San Antonio ? That is the 39th market. MLB has already said they will not go from the 11th Market (So Fla) to the 39th.
No the only alternative is the "c" word - contraction. However Loria has said if they do that, or try to, he will sue MLB and according to what I have read he would have a great chance of winning. MLB doesn't want to do that -- sooooooo what I do see is eventually a bargain basement stadium without a cover (built maybe so that a cover could be put on eventually) will be built for about $ 325 million.

Not that spring training means anything but Hermida, Baker, and Maybin have been hitting the snot out of the ball and Nolasco and Volstad look sharp. JJ has yet to give up a run in 8 innings of work.
Hopefully Anibal and Miller get their act together before Opening Day. -

Those were largely unjustified and baseless. I do think, however, that we could see Uggla gone by midseason if we are out of it.

Hermida is at much more risk of a trade than Uggla, IMO.

We managed to negotiate trading Hermida for Manny Ramirez and a bunch of cash, man. If Uggla is worth more, then we'd better not settle for anything less than trading Uggla away for Chase Utley and also getting Josh Beckett back. :lol:SICK likes this.

Well it was Hermida and Mike Stanton and other prospects. If the Pirates only wanted Hermida, Manny would have been a Marlin.
