Use this thread to discuss the Miami Heat as they make their return to the playoffs.
As for predictions on the Heat and the season?
Miami Heat record: 44-38 (6th seed.) make the 2nd round of the playoffs.
As for the NBA:
East: Boston defends their title. Philadelphia becomes a serious contender. Cleveland as well. Detroit falls off this year.
West: lakers should steamroll the west. San Antonio is weaker (older). The Hornets are the sexy pick. The Blazers WILL make the playoffs.
Finals pick? Lakers defeat Philly 4-2.
Rookie of the Year: Michael Beasley. (Miami) He will average 15 points, 7 rebounds per game.

NBA Predictions:
Most Valuable Player - LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
Defensive Player of the Year - Ron Artest, Houston Rockets.
Rookie of the Year - Michael Beasley, Miami Heat
Sixth Man of the Year - Rodney Stuckey, Detroit Pistons
Most Improved Player - Andrew Bynum, Los Angeles Lakers
Coach of the Year - Nate McMillan, Portland Trail Blazers
Executive of the Year - Ed Stefanski, Philadelphia 76ers
Eastern Conference Champs - Cleveland Cavaliers
Western Conference Champs - Los Angeles Lakers
NBA Finals - Los Angeles Lakers, 4-1
NBA Finals MVP - Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Random - Tracy McGrady has the most complete all around season of his career and finally gets out of the first round, advancing all the way to the conference finals with a thrilling loss to the Lakers in 7 games. I honestly believe that he'll enter the MVP talks this year.
Miami Heat Predictions:
Record - 43-39, 6th seed, advance to second round.
Scoring Leader - Dwyane Wade
Assist Leader - Dwyane Wade
Rebound Leader - Shawn Marion
Block Leader - Joel Anthony
Dwyane Wade's Return - All NBA 2nd Team, All NBA 2nd Team Defense, NBA All Star Starter, Top 5 in MVP votes. Final Stats: 27/7/4 with 2 steals on 47% shooting, and less turnovers than years past. Wade suits up for 70-75 games.
Random - The successful return of Shaun Livingston at some point before the half way mark of the season. I predict he becomes the starter by February-March and finishes with a promising season; maybe an average of 8-10 points and 4-5 dimes per game in about 20-25 minutes per game. -

Got my tickets for when you guys come West to play the Clippers. Should be a fun game.
-
Also, good luck this season to the Clips. -
Good luck to you guys too. Should be a fun season.High Definition likes this. -
But had he not had that injury, he would be signing a multi year 10 million a year contract at this time.
When he got hurt...he was ready to take the next step that Ivan Calderon took...from a good rotation player to a top PG.
Now...let's see how he comes back from his injury.
if he is anything like how he was before..we have a future 14 and 8 PG.
I don't expect much from him this year though. -
homers unite! ;)

James Jones is out for 3 months. Great start to a season that hasn't even ****ing tipped off yet.
LINK - Sun Sentinel
Cook & Quinn better step up now, because we have no shooters. -
this is devastating.
we need to go out and get somebody.
the bench will be disfunctional without a shooter to draw attention. -
james jones is always hurt, get used to it lol
-
Cook showed that he could shoot last year

You fellas ready or what? Got my courtside tix to the home opener, w00t.
-
If Livingston can fully recover from the knee thing he could be the steal of FA this yr. I absolutely love the mismatches he can create. And if he has his quickness back and can drive the lane it will create all kinds of shots for Wade, Marion, and Beas....
-
Lets go heat!
-
what do you guys think of the Hawks this year? Will they build on from last years playoff birth?
-
Mario Chalmers worked with the first team in practice today; looks like he's getting the starting nod. The first team unit: Chalmers, Wade, Marion, Beasley, and Haslem. Second team: Quinn, Banks, Wright, Anthony, Blount. Cook is probably a lock for the active roster, and the final spot comes down to Livingston (if healthy enough) and the horrendous shooting even when as open as can be Frenchman.
-
watch for some very creative defensive schemes that will have us out ont eh break.
One thing is for sure. for the last 4 years we have had a very bad transition defense. That will now change due to the speed that we will have on the court.
Haslem at the 5 opens up the floor for Wade and gives him options when driving the lane WITHOUT a James Jones to knock down 3's.
Were we will hurt is when we face teams with true centers.....
go ahead and name the teams with true centers...
I am waiting.
In the long run..we need healthy big bodies to bang and use fouls.
Haslem in foul trouble could spell big problems for us in every game till we get healthy at the 5 spot. -
Where the MOTHER**** is my game?????
Sun Sports better not play that crap. I'll go down to their building. -
According to the Miami Herald, Beasley and Chalmers are starting.
-
I cannot freaking believe this. -
Yup, and we can't watch it because Sun Sports is garbage. I can't even catch the game on League Pass, because Comcast is also a piece of crap company. Even though they have the MSG channel up, because I'm in South Florida, I can't get the game on both channels.
**Gets on the phone, cusses out customer service, cancels NBA League Pass just because of this** -
This is idiotic. I don't have DirecTV's NBA package, true, but I should be able to get local broadcasts of sports games. Holy crap.
Hope all of you guys who can actually watch the game are enjoying.
