Figured we needed a thread for the new season...
If you're not caught up on the first episode... don't read this yet...

So of course, like everyone, totally freaked out over who was going to meet Lucille. I was fine with losing Abraham. He went out a hero and all... but man, Glenn... that was tough. I saw it coming about a split second before it happened, to the point that I said.. "GLENN!"... yet my wife still screamed. still gut wrenching stuff... almost like they did their "what happened to Glenn" thing last season just to prepare people for this eventuality.

I love that the zombies are an after-thought at this point.

I don't read the comics, but one of my co-workers does. I felt like last year they teased a Glenn death and when they received a big outcry to save him they did. From what I hear about the comics, I wouldn't mind if they went in their own direction. I wonder if they have to keep it the same some.

yeah, it didn't surprise me too much given the comic book discussions from last year, but my wife was upset. Still sucked to see though, probably the character I related to the most.

I really thought they were going to kill Eugene given how they pumped up his personality at the end of last season.
It was a bit too brutal for me. I still will keep watching, but that took it a bit far and lost some lustrePaul 13 and MikeHoncho like this. -
2nd episode wasn't much better. I like it when the show bounces back and forth between various groups, focusing on the Kingdom by itself... It just dragged. Next week looks more interesting. -
I'm intrigued in the storyline with the Kingdom and tainting the pigs for the Saviors to eat. I wonder if that’ll help in the long run. I kind of wish they would always show a portion of the group each week also. It would better drive the stories and eliminate some fat.

I liked how they kept Glenn's death accurate with the story in the comic, and that they changed how Abraham died in the tv show. In the comic, Abraham was supposed to die where the character Denise (chubby 'Doctor' girl with glasses from Alexandria) does in the show, with the arrow through the eye by the train tracks.

That was a pretty poor episode. Boring and really added nothing to the story we didn't already know. They could have just taken 10 or 15 minutes to show the guns and such being taken and then used the rest of the episode time for something that's actually interesting.

Agreed. There was much more depth to the governor.

They're branching out way too much with different characters situations. They're going to spend almost the whole season dedicating an entire episode to each character, and what they've been up to. I'm not sure if they'd thought of that when they sent everybody off in different directions at the end of last season, and the first episode of this one.

I'd have stopped watching altogether if not for my wife continuing with it. If there's not an uptick shes likely to ditch it soon though. From what I understand ratings have been falling since the season premiere, although they are still huge.

Been doing this since season 2. Either it's a premiere or a finale or there's nothing interesting going on.

I definitely don't anticipate the episodes anymore. I still watch it in batches, but more because it's one of the few shows that my wife and I will watch together (along with Agents of Shield, Timeless and Jessica Jones). It keeps her from tuning back to the hallmark channel.

Back on tonight...

I'm wondering who the new group is at the end...and why was Rick smiling?

This show is perpetual cliffhangers
