It’s draft week. Let the craziness begin.
We already have a mock draft thread to post all the incoming final Mocks.
Figured I’d start a thread where we can post and discuss all the incoming rumours that could impact the Dolphins draft or impact Prospects that Miami could be interested in.
I’ll start with a few I’m seeing today;
1)Atlanta more Likely to take a pass catcher... Pitts OR CHASE now in play?
2)Chargers trying to move up to get Sewell ?
3) Ooops!!?
4) Older clip; Dallas showing hand, Love them some Kyle Pitts and sugar plums?

PFN’s Tony Pauline is saying Dolphins like pass rushers at 18.
.
47:30 -they talk Dolphins pick 18;
17:00 - They talk pick #6. Suggests Dolphins traded out of 3 bc not comfortable taking an opt out that high.
I personally like both of the guys he suggests we are looking at! Ojulari was a beast production wise in the SEC and is still considered raw. So much upside.Last edited: Apr 26, 2021 -

This is interesting. Do you think Atlanta going WR makes them more likely to take Chase or Pitts?
I'll be happy with any of the Pitts, Smith, or Chase. I'd accept Waddle if it meant we snagged Sewell and paid a bit to move up and get him mid-high teen's.
Thursday will be fun regardless.Last edited: Apr 26, 2021Pennington's Limp Arm likes this. -

I have a feeling the current brass just does not value RB. They passed on Jonathan Taylor, Akers and Dobbins (rumoured pre draft they loved JK) last year at 39.
They could be of the running backs don’t matter crowd. I Guess we’ll find out soon. Maybe at 36, but I have a hard time seeing us trade up for one.Puka-head likes this. -
I know people don't like the Noah pick, however CB is very important for Flores defense and he has excellent measurables while showing improving CB play.
Miami had A LOT of needs in last years draft. They have less this year.texanphinatic likes this. -
The analytics nerds who say always punt on RB, will still argue it’s a waste.
In 10 games last year Gaskin was #8 in the league amongst RB’s in Yds from scrimmage per game.
-He was #1 in AFC East
-Also Higher number than guys like;
E.Elliott, Edwards-Helaire, Jacobs, K. Drake, Miles Sanders, JK Dobbins ect.
UDFA rookie James Robinson also made the top 8 in that category. Ahead of every single RB that got drafted last year.
Maybe it’s coincidence this brass hasn’t spent capital on RB or maybe it’s an analytics strategy. I’m not even sure, just speculating.Last edited: Apr 26, 2021resnor and Dol-Fan Dupree like this. -
If this plays out. Pick 4 has to be a pass catcher correct ?Last edited: Apr 26, 2021 -

However, the top three in this draft has a chance to be special, so I am happy with that luxury. Especially with 4 picks in the top 50. However, Miami might feel different.Puka-head, KeyFin and Pennington's Limp Arm like this. -
I read a Herald article this morning that said of the top 4 receivers (including Pitts), Miami likes Smith the least. No idea if there's any truth to that, but it felt like it fit this thread nicely.
To counter that, I've also read this past month that Smith was our favorite of the four, LOL. So I'm not sure if I'm providing any serious intel here. =)resnor and Pennington's Limp Arm like this. -
From one of the most accurate Mock Drafters the past few years.
Also the Giants have taken Georgia players in each of the last 2 1st rounds.
Maybe Ojulari doesn’t make it to 18. I’m really hoping we have our choice of him or Paye . -
I wouldn't call him a fine "starting running back" in the NFL though if you're implying he can be a 25 carry a game player effectively.texanphinatic and resnor like this. -

Fields is a Georgia kid too. Just saying..... -
Rotation is the way to go and draft picks shouldn't be spent on running backs in the first three rounds.Dol-Fan Dupree likes this. -
The other problem is that Ryan's contract makes trading or releasing him borderline impossible this year and even next year unless they eat a lot of money. A lot lot. But ... a top 4 draft choice with some raw but insanely talented guys like Trey Lance? That has to be intriguing longer term than just giving Matt Ryan more weapons that won't equate to wins.
I just feel that if they really can't bring themselves to take Lance or someone of that ilk, they need to trade out whatever it takes. Load up for the future. New GM, new Coach - why hitch yourself to Matt Ryan at this point? -
If Atlanta trades to a QB hungry team or take one themselves, we’ll have either Chase or Pitts which is a big win for us either way.Striking likes this. -
My gut tells me that the #4 pick is a quarterback, even if it's not the Falcons on the clock. So all we really need is for Atlanta and Cinci to make the most logical moves at #4 and 5 to set us up with our choice of elite prospects. With us getting down to the wire here, I think Pitts is the guy that makes the most sense for Miami if the chips fall in place. However, I won't be mad regardless since it HAS TO BE Sewell, Pitts or Chase.....it just has to be. And all three are very solid choices in a position of need.Last edited: Apr 27, 2021ExplosionsInDaSky and mlb1399 like this. -

Could climb into 1st round;
Javonte Williams, Dyami Brown, Dillon Radunz, Tyson Campbell, Eric Stokes, Basham Jr.
Speculates lots of teams are going to be competing to draft Edge rushers. Not ideal. -
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the Lions tried to trade up to the fourth pick in the NFL Draft in pursuit of LSU's Ja'Marr Chase.
The Falcons' asking price for the fourth pick was too high, according to Fowler. This would confirm that the Bengals -- picking fifth -- will likely select Chase in Thursday's first round. Lions general manager Brad Holmes could still draft a high-end wide receiver prospect with the seventh pick -- perhaps Jaylen Waddle or DeVonta Smith. Any first round wideout who lands in Detroit would instantly become the team's No. 1 receiver and could fall into massive target volume with little competition for looks.

Interesting.
In a scenario where Chase is already gone. I wonder if Cincy has any interest in Pitts at 5... or if it become default lineman for them.
Falcons could also stay and take Chase themselves. -

Not ideal. Sewel is the safest pick at #6 IMO but it doesn't solve our weapon problem. Unless we decided to trade for someone like Julio. Word is he's worth a 2nd round pick, and that would be a hell of an upgrade for Tua.Dol-Fan Dupree likes this. -
Not a rumor, but it most likely impacts how the top of the first round plays out IMO as I don't see Denver being as eager to part with significant draft capital to move up for a QB now.
Broncos acquired QB Teddy Bridgewater from the Panthers in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick.
The Broncos have been reported to be in the mix for a QB via the draft since the start of the offseason. Drew Lock has failed to do much in his 18 games as a starter. He averaged just 6.6 yards per attempt and led the league in interceptions last year. It's hard to see Bridgewater as the long-term answer though. After playing admiringly as Drew Brees backup in 2019, the Saints ultimately let him walk in free agency. Then the Panthers saw a year of him as a starter and chose to replace him with Sam Darnold. Bridgewater will have a great cast of weapons to work with in Denver but played alongside a talented receiving unit in Carolina last year. He threw 15 touchdowns to 11 interceptions and won just four games across 15 starts. Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton will get a slight upgrade at QB in 2021 but the potential for a rookie turning the Denver offense into a powerhouse has all but vanished.

We shouldn't have traded out of three..at three we had our choice of anyone. Now the choice is at best Sewell. If the bet is Fuller stays healthy as the main receiver coming in that worries me. We really needed to add help out wide. Pitts and Chase were those choices and we have traded out of those positions

I think we ****ed this up I really do. Eventually you need to stop stockpiling picks and take a talent when it's available. Tua needed the help and it would seem quite certain Pitts or Chase would have probably provided that.
Now we are looking at a third lineman in three first round picks in 2 years. I don't admit to follow college ball that much but who may be available next year that can compare to Pitts or Chase that we have probably given up on this year?resnor likes this.
