Timmons can GFHS.
-
Whatever it is, not sure going public on radio right after game day is the best plan here.
Surely you want to ensure things are smooth with the team, then let them respond, no? Especially since Gase said that he wasn't ready to comment.Last edited: Sep 17, 2017 -

If he flat out quit on the team over a demotion, play time, role. or whatever, then yeah, I'm with you. But, before being ridiculous about it lets at least wait to figure out whats happened. I mean... we won today... after an unanticipated week 1 bye due to a hurricane that likely screwed with alot of our guys and their families living local. Lets just calm down, wait for the facts, then go from there. Why the constant need to over-react before we have some facts?Last edited: Sep 17, 2017Steve-Mo, dolphin25, Killer Bees and 6 others like this. -

Again, if Timmons took off on this team because he's unhappy with his role, or some other coaching decision, then... I'm going to be pretty bitter about that too... but to sit here now, knowing nothing, saying stuff like that... it's just awful, know what I mean?
Sure there's got to be accountability, but I think if you look at Timmon's career... his streak of consecutive games started... being a good team guy over his career, you kind of have to look at it and just wait and see what actually happened... it's not like this is Dion Jordan here, who's continuously ****ed himself, and his career over and over, and over again. Something happened... if it's a negative reaction on Timmons' part due to a coaching/team decision.. then absolutely, there's got to be consequences, and whatever **** comes may be deserved, but if it's not that... then lets cut the guy some slack until we know.Fame, Tin Indian and Puka-head like this. -
Seriously, just wait for some facts. I dont necessarily disagree. Of course there's a right way to leave if you have to leave, but... who knows what happened. Again, if he didnt just handle a coaches decision properly and left... then I'm with you. If it's something beyond that... then I'm willing to give a guy who's never really been an issue in his lengthy career some slack. It's no ideal, i get that... but there's life outside of work, or a game. Hopefully for your sake your boss doesn't hold you to the same accountability standards you want him to be held to.
I'm an extremely accountable, and reliable person, my job requires me to be self motivated, self managed from a work, and time management standpoint, but you know what... sometimes **** happens in life, and people/managers give you that flexibility if need be.
Maybe it's warranted, maybe it's not. The way Gase addressed it in his PC tonight, gives me the idea that maybe, just maybe it wasnt warranted in the team's eyes which could, and should pose problems, or discipline for Timmons.... I'm just saying... until we actually know, can we just calm down. Sucks what happened today, but we found a way to win.Colmax likes this. -

I totally agree with you
But regardless of the reason, Timmons no showed for work today. That's no Bueno and there should be consequences. That's true if you are making minimum wage at McD's or playing pro ball.Colmax and Redwine4all like this. -

So no one watched it? If you did, can you please relay what was said for those of us not living in Miami? Thanks!

If it was a family matter it would've already been reported and the dolphins wouldn't have had to "look for him".
It's very likely that Timmons can GFH.

I think he deserves the benefit of the dout. He is an 11 year pro. Miami wanted him. The entire two weeks could make anyone crack, between travel, not seeing family and not being home. He probably was on the phone with Comcast because I have been on the phone with them regardig outages and I get super angry

I don't think his agent can explain how he quit on the team.He is more than likely done in Miami. He did go F himself and the team.

Yes, I have made bad decisions. No, I am not perfect. In either case, my "life" is irrelevant here. I know if I had an important role at work and I just blew off my boss, my workmates, my responsibilities, I would probably get fired. No one would be "waiting on facts". Seriously.
If something happened with his family...or something else personal...then tell the coach and leave. We HAVE that fact. The team didn't know what had happened to him. He just left. I don't care what the reason is, that's wrong. If you can't make that decision, that's your business. I can.
We KNOW its not warranted, but you want to "appear" to open minded, kind, understanding...Ok, you win the "self righteous' Award of the week. I bestow upon you a medal. Feel better?
I don't owe Lawrence Timmons a thing. Not respect, not understanding, not a calm reaction. What he did was selfish and irresponsible. He should be suspended for whatever the league will allow without pay. -

I remember being deployed in the Middle east. There were many "problems" back home. If I left without proper protocol, that's desertion and AWOL. I would have been severely punished. I had a family member die when I was there. I needed to come home. I followed the process. To just leave because your feelings are hurt is unacceptable. -

Messy scenario but I think perhaps we can all agree on this - so far Gase has shown himself not afraid to be a disciplinarian. I doubt he will either ignore the issue just to keep talent, or throw away redeemable talent because of disciplinary issues. He'll try to make the best decision (including considerations for how this affects the 'team' implications of how Timmons may have hurt/let down his teammates).
Let's see what happens.Fin-O and Redwine4all like this. -
Miami needs him more than he needs Miami? Really? Who's paying his salary? What other team has 6 million dollars to give this little beatch his money?
If he doesn't want to play, thats fine, retire. But to quit like a little beeatch is not fine. His punishment needs to be suspended without pay. This is bigger than Timmons. Gase has to get control of this team and let everyone know if you do something like this, there are going to be severe consequences. Would Belichick tolerate it? Neither should we. -
Here's the best breakdown I've found on the situation so far, with just the limited information there is:
From Steelers Depot
"After the Miami game was over, Dolphins head coach Adam Gase indicated he wasn’t ready to talk about the situation with Timmons.
“I’m not saying anything right now,” Gase said during his post-game press conference, according to Pro Football Talk. “I need to figure some things out first before I talk about this.”
Timmons failing to play Sunday put an end to his streak of 101 consecutive starts. The Steelers former first-round draft pick had last missed a game in 2009.
After the Steelers game against the Minnesota Vikings was over, a few defensive players were asked about their former teammate and specifically if they had heard about what happened earlier in the day with Timmons. None of them appeared to know what exactly happened, according to a few media reports.
“I’m about to call him tonight, though, and see what’s up with him,” Steelers linebacker Vince Williams said, according to Jacob Klinger of pennlive.com.
Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported earlier Sunday that Timmons had not been arrested and did not run afoul of the law.
It certainly will be interesting to see what ultimately happens with this situation with Timmons as it was certainly out of character for him to leave the team the way he did. The veteran linebacker signed a two year, $12 million contract with the Dolphins this past March after failing to come to an agreement with the Steelers.
Timmons’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was a guest Sunday night on WSVN’s 7Sports Xtra and he was asked by host Steve Shapiro if he could shed some light on what’s going on with his client right now.
“Unfortunately, Steve, not a lot,” Rosenhaus said. “It’s a private matter. I’d love to be able to shed some light on it, but I can’t.”
Rosenhaus was then asked if he’s concerned about the situation with Timmons.
“It’s of a personal matter nature of Lawrence and when he gets back to Miami and we get together and converse with the Dolphins, then obviously there will be a joint statement on it,” Rosenhaus said.
Rosenhaus was then asked if he thinks Timmons will play next week.
“I dont know,” he relied."Fin D likes this. -
Timmons is pathetic. That was a total unprofessional move from a player one would expect unparalleled professionalism. I have no use for him at all--I hope Gase doesn't either.
Imagine if we playing a big game late in the year. Can ANYONE trust that he is going to show up? If there is ANY doubt about him, he should be 100% on the shelf.
It doesn't really matter how "good" he is...if you can't trust that he will show up, he's no good at all. He certainly wasn't in LA yesterday, was he? -

If it was a mental breakdown you really can't blame Timmons. I'm as pissed as everyone else about him but with CTE becoming more and more prevalent (or at least recognized) you can't fully demonize the man until the facts come out. Maybe he is ill and needs help.
Again, I'm beyond agitated but still. -
I understand everyone has a life. I also understand when you CHOOSE to play a game for a living, and make millions of dollars entertaining "US" (you seem to like it, too), then you are fair game for criticism.
I don't really care what happened to timmons. I don't care if its HIS LIFE or he was just pissed. I don't care if he hates Miami or if its something really serious. There is a PROCESS that everyone needs to follow. He decided that doesn't apply to him. So, any and all criticism is fair, and its independent of the facts in the case. You don't just leave. If there is a death, you tell someone and leave. If you want to quit, you tell someone and leave.
I am showing that POS Timmons the same amount of respect he showed his employers and teammates. To hell with Timmons.rackhound likes this. -

This loyalty to the team bullcrap is silly considering the teams rarely have loyalty to the players.Dol-Fan Dupree likes this. -
If he just simply quit on the team and is looking to get signed somewhere else, the NFL needs to place a large fine on his ***. Then every player would start doing the same to get out of their situation.

"And then there was that embarrassing issue with linebacker Lawrence Timmons leaving the team Saturday.
Timmons, apparently dealing with a personal situation that made him so unhappy he headed to the airport on his own to go home, put the good of the team at risk on Sunday. At a time when the Dolphins are talking about being unified and a family and a brotherhood, Timmons simply became a solo act.
And so his Dolphins career is at risk now.
“I’m still kind of, I’ll be ready to talk about that, probably tomorrow,” Gase said. “I’m not saying anything right now. I need to figure some things out first before I talk about this.”
Part of figuring out if Timmons is going to salvage his career with the team or not involves Gase speaking with Timmons. That had not happened as of Sunday evening when this game ended.
So Timmons needs to have a compelling and logical explanation for Gase to make going AWOL an excusable offense. That’s a tough ask.
But if Timmons doesn’t convince Gase what he did somehow made sense, he might not be around this team for next week’s game or future games, or perhaps ever again.
That’s how serious this is.
It’s possible this is more serious for the Dolphins than it might be for other teams because this team, for whatever amount of talent they have relative to their opponents, believe they win because of their heart and unity and camaraderie.
Don’t believe it?
The evening before every game the Dolphins always have someone talk to the team. On Saturday it was defensive end Cameron Wake giving the talk. And Wake talked about using the people of Florida as a template for how his teammates should think.
He was back in Florida when Hurricane Irma hit and saw survivors in the aftermath speak of family and hope and the importance of having each other. And Wake said the Dolphins should share that approach.
“Cam talked about it with the guys because he was back there,” Gase said. “And hearing some of the things he saw and some of the interviews he saw about our area, just the positive attitude that people in that area have, happy to be safe and have their families with them, not being worried so much about material things ...
“I think that was a great thing for him to talk about last night, that there’s more than the material type things. It’s about your family, it’s about us sticking together and going out and playing hard and trying to win for each other and South Florida fans.”"

There is a protocol that the team must follow. Same for players. I don't care what or why he did. I do care very much about how he did it. And THAT was wrong, without question. -

Now that being said, Timmons doesn't yet have a long history with us. This is essentially a new job for him, and yes I would expect much better from him. However, since the NFL is so public we have seen his dedication to the sport and know that this is not a disturbing trend that continues to repeat.
If his reason falls in the somewhat forgivable category then he is fined, he looses playing time. He essentially has to work his way out of the coaches dog house.
If not then he is let go, and Dolphins look into a breach of contract to save some of the money we spent on him.
