Here is the link to the QB school video. Good watch. What does he say about the throw that every NFL QB can make:

"I can't overstate how special a throw this is." LOL from a former NFL QB and a guy who now reviews QB film for a living.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=uHhp2mQp8bA;t=10

Film first, numbers second. If the numbers don’t match what is seen on film, something is likely wrong with the numbers.

Got to compare apples to apples. Let Tua play a full season for once, and see what his record is.

If he fails to get a deal done with Tua I'm joining the call for "Grier has to go". -cbrad

Herbert has never been elite over a long stretch. He has been consistently above average but not elite. I've been pointing this out since year 2 based on his stats, that something is amiss with Herbert, and it's showing once again this year. Herbert hasn't improved over these three years, and somehow doesn't have that "clutch" factor where you can rely on him to win (at least a decent number) of games when so much else is going wrong. That playoff flop last year doesn't help.

People who like Herbert because of his physical traits are ignoring his stats, which suggest it's another Rivers-type situation.

I agree

My thoughts are if he can stay healthy and not miss significant time, especially near the postseason.. then give him that market value contract that all the big qbs are getting. Not a fan, i think he has so many limitations but if hes producing we dont have a choice. He needs to put together a strong season with at least 15 starts for me to really be okay with the team giving him a long term contract.. if he misses december and january (playoffs) like last season they are not giving him that 250 million like the top qbs but theyll definitely offer a Daniel Jones type contract which is 160 with half of it guaranteed..

Personally, I'd franchise tag and let him repeat it. Then I'd be pretty comfortable with the long term deal.

I've got the haters and agenda pushers on ignore. Now...As far as Tua goes, I think the biggest difference I saw yesterday was how physically fit he looked. The guy just looks stronger all around. I also noticed that his throws have some zip on them. He wasn't just out there throwing ducks. The guy puts it on the numbers and he's dead on accurate.

The Titans/Saints game was the only other game I watched yesterday and not to bash Tannehill, but he was off! Way off. Tannehill had two crucial misses that should have gone for TDs. They were both overthrows that pretty much decided the game. I'm going to bet the house that Tua WOULD NOT have missed on those throws. Both would have been house calls...Even against a stellar Saints defense.

Titans/Saints, I saw both Quarterbacks struggle because of how defensive the game was. Carr was off at times as well, but he made all the right throws when it mattered the most and that was the difference between him and Tannehill in that game. I only mention this game because I think at some point this year we're going to play in a few of these ourselves. Not every game we play this year is going to be some massive offensive explosion. We're going to get into a couple of sloppy dog fights this year and the hope is that Tua can do for us what Carr was able to do for New Orleans yesterday. That being that he did not lose the game, making the right throws when they needed to be made, and putting the team in a position to be able to get some sort of points on the board.

We're going to see all sorts of game scenarios/plots/storylines this year. I actually think next week against New England is going to be more of a defensive battle. Don't expect Tua to erupt for 400 yards passing and 4 TDs. If he does, then buckle up because he's going to be doing that to the entire league this year. New England has a great defense. The hope is that Tua just drops a deuce on them anyway, but the realistic hope is that he can play smart, control the game, and make the right decisions that lead us to a win.

Wait a minute. Are you saying you rather have Tua at 80% for 17 games rather than seeing our backups ?
Check out ST showing Tua some love. I knew you could do it.

By my math, that means Tua at 100% for 14 games is a positive goal. We might actually get that.

I've seen that play several times today from who knows how many angles and it seriously hypes me up every time. I thought it was a great pass in the game and it somehow looks better every time I watch it.

We've gotten a variety of reports regarding this thread. After reading the whole thread, you folks seem to enjoy being labeled a troll way more than I would. Also your sarcasm at each other is disturbing. If I followed the TOS, at least four of you wouldn't be commenting the next few days.

I’ve only read the first page of posts. First off, QUIT THE PERSONAL SHOTS!!!!!! KNOCK IT OFF!!!!

There are some posts I read that are as stupid as a football bat. What do I do? Roll my eyes and keep reading on.

Now on to the topic at hand…

What an utterly amazing performance by Tua!!! 466 yards passing. That’s insane! What’s even more amazing about those yard is the air yards. 310 of those yards were passes down the field. That’s BALLS!!! The Dolphins weren’t just throwing the ball, they were ATTACKING.

I wanted to say one thing though about the discussion about the weapons Tua has and it’s THEM that made/makes Tua look good…

If that’s the case, then it wasn’t all Marino. It was Duper, Clayton and Moore than made Marino look good.

Mahomes and Kelce?
Montana and Rice?
Aikmen and Irvin?
Bradshaw and Stallworth/Swann?

Great quarterbacks have great receivers. You can’t have one without the other…but it doesn’t diminish the quarterback.

After all, someone had the throw the ball to those receivers.

There goes that " consistently" word again. You know, the word you don't use as an ability reference.

Yes, exactly. I made that point a while back also.

You aren't following. I'm not the one calling Tua OR Herbert elite. I don't think either are elite. If they are to be elite, they need to be elite consistently and for a full season. What's your confusion in my position?

Of course I do. You talk endlessly about Tua/consistency then back track when your boy Herbert is brought into the conversation. That's just one example of many reasons posters here have your number.

I'm simply pointing out, making one throw isn't proof. If he does that consistently, it is proof. That was all I was saying. I'm not saying it isn't proof. The claim has been that Tua can't make those throws consistently, not that her doesn't Piggly have the capability of doing it.

No it hasn't. This is simply NOT TRUE. The claim has been he CAN'T. No qualifiers. Period.

He makes that ridiculous statement, meanwhile an ACTUAL FORMER NFL QB says that he cannot OVERSTATE how SPECIAL a throw that was......

The number of ridiculous posts about Tua is just amazing.

Every single one of his ridiculous posts is directly rebutted by numerous independent experts. They have no agenda. They are simply commenting on what they see in the context of what is actually takes to play the game at that high of a level.

It was definitely that he can't make those throws at all

And probably only Mahomes is really making it consistently.

The original claims were he would NEVER be able to go off script and make those types of throws. It just wasn't possible for him because of his limited talent.
