When is the game?

England I think will win, but the U.S will make it tough for them. 1-0 or 2-1 win by the English I'm going for.

Hey dont get me wrong, I certainly wont be rooting for England. Its just I think they will be the better team over 90 minutes.gunn34 and Ronnie Bass like this. -

Were all from somewhere else. I was born here in the USA, but my dad is German and my mother is Irish:up: -

Unfortunately I think this is the worst big-team matchup for the USA.
Against other teams they could try to use their supreme conditioning, strength, and brute force style of play to make up for their lack of technique and skill. But if there's one team that matches or exceeds the USA in conditioning and strength, it's England, and we all know their technique is far inferior to England's as well
I'll be rootin hard for the USA, but I see it 3-1 England -

That's all I'm going to say on that, I just wanted to know who people are going for in the USA/England World Cup game next weekend:knucks:gunn34 likes this. -
USA could win this game. I doubt they will, but no one thought they could beat Spain or Brazil last year and they nearly beat both. -
-
-
I'm going to say....
England 2
USA 1 -
its hard to say we will win, but we have a really good shot here. they may be more skilled overall and can match our strengths, our team is good enough to spring enough counter attacks to score on them

These guys are older now and on the wrong side of their primes.
You also have to look at England who has been playing much better soccer the last two years then they did leading up to the 2006 World Cup.
It was never a knock on the U.S. It was more a credit to England, who IMO, is the team to beat after Spain and Brazil. -
THEY DON'T. -
a lot of the names are the same from '06, but almost the whole squad has been playing overseas in some capacity and it has raised their play. the problem is that all the guys have to show up. our country is good enough to field 11-13 guys but not the whole squad.
england's ferdinand appears to be out though -

Only eight return out of the 23 that were brought in 2006. However I think 5 to 6 of those players will probably start come the first game vs England, so both of you have a point in what your saying. Even though the squad is quite different, the starting 11 will be made up of quite a number of guys who played in 06.Section126 and unluckyluciano like this. -
I dont think that the good old USA have it to win the game. It is probably the poorest England team I have seen going into a World Cup, so maybe that is a good omen for us
As for the Irish and the Scots among you, I love the rivalry, I wouldn't expect anything else. But in a war I love the fact that you are by our side. Some of the best soldiers in the British army are Welsh, Scots or Irish :tongue2: -

Have to go with my roots and say England, they are certainly the better team on paper, although we all know that means nothing. As a recent US citizen, I'm a bit torn though. I hope both teams advance out of this group of course.
-
2-1 USA. That's too bad about Beckham. But they have other guys who are better.
-
-
England 3-1, but both squads should advance out of their group.
-
The Americans will advance...and then get slapped silly after the group stage. Every year we hear about this being the year they make noise. To me it is simple, they get a free pass every year because of the weakness of their region and then fold when they play real clubs.
