Vic was brought in to be the last piece of the puzzle to turn this team into a perennial Super Bowl contender and while we did have some improvements we also had major setbacks. Injuries aside it was a lot and sometimes you have to adjust to your talent but Vic didn’t seem to do that or build a top defense this year.
When we started losing talented players we didn’t adjust. We just added the next man up and played man a lot. We decided to play 5-7 yards off receivers which resulted in 5-7 years gains at will. I’m not sure how the talent acquisition works but he should have been fighting for better player up to the trade deadline.
We have a ton of issues to address but VIC’s defensive play calling cost us at least two games maybe more.
He needs to really step up his game and get his players or Grier needs to go. He’s constantly brining in project / injury prone players for cheap hoping they become magical. 1-2 is ok but it’s like 90 of his moves are stretches.

Yeah, defense cost us some games no question. But it was the offense that cost us the division and playoff wins. So yes Vic needs to do better, but the bigger fault lies with McD and Tua in high stakes games.

Hes without phillips, xavien, chubb, avg.. no defense can overcome that many playmakers out

Hard to blame Vic when Griers pass rush relies on 2 guys with a history of significant injury issues. It’s also hard to not think about what this defense would look like with Parsons, which some of us wanted, instead of a #2 WR who’s can make some nice plays but also goes missing at times.

It was a group effort. In the end there were to many injuries and not so special back up players.

Once the team figured out the system and playing together, they were really good. Really from the Giants game in Week 5 through the Washington game in Week 13, they were one of the best defenses in the league, despite missing games from some important players through that stretch. It was exactly what we hoped it would be.
Then important players started dropping like flies, and it was just too much for any team to overcome. All told:
Jaelan Phillips missed 9 games
Jalen Ramsey missed 7 games
Nic Needham missed 7 games and was never the same as before his injury
Jevon Holland missed 5 games
Xavien Howard missed 4 games
Jerome Baker missed 4 games
And of course Chubb and AVG were hurt at the end
And that's of course not even talking about the offense, which missed a lot of players as well, and the inability to hold onto the ball put additional pressure on the defense some weeks.Tin Indian and danmarino like this. -

The defense was extremely well coached, imo. Fangio had guys dropping like flies all over the place but they still competed and played hard all the way to the end. They had Mahomes running for his life at times on Saturday night.

Considering the injuries and poor play from Howard I thought the Defense played fair. Now if the offense could have showed up after half time it could have been a competitive game.

I never had any issues what what I perceive to be the fundamental design and gameplan of the defense. Injuries and execution were issues at times, but I don't think it was ever dumb or poorly set up.
I can't say that about the offense, which I have big questions about.resnor likes this. -
Don’t get me started on Fangio
Jmo I don’t think he’s gonna be here long, and thus far not impressive
Garbage against the chargers, Garbage against the eagles, garbage against the bills, like trash, then historic garbage against the ravens, never seen garbage like that, then some more historic garbage against the titans.
There’s more garbage, I’m sure he played some ****ty teams pretty good.

Vic is out. Wanted to be closer to home. I could tell his heart wasn't really down in Miami.

The Dolphins and Vic Fangio have mutually agreed to part ways, sources tell @JFowlerESPN. Fangio now will be the top target for the Philadelphia Eagles to hire as their defensive coordinator, and a deal is expected. Miami is allowing Fangio to leave to be closer to his family in Pennsylvania. Fangio and the Eagles had an interest in working together in 2023, but the timing didn’t work. This time it will.

The defense still held their own with many stars missing. Big loss. Jumped a sinking ship.

If you have Twitter go and take a look at some of the Dolphins' defenders tweets after he was fired. loldolphin25, Springveldt and Csonka Marino like this. -

The players knew he was half assin it.
Chargers game he was a pathetic, titans loss and raven loss historically inept, Josh Allen had his easiest game of the year with perfect ratings
Eagle played him like a fiddle -
