I think there's a fair possibility he's back for the Ravens game just because he's that kind of player.

But there's also a fair chance he's ready to go for that game but the coaches shut him down out of caution, because they're that kind of coaching staff.

It's time to see if DJ is ready to justify his draft status. Irish is going to look pretty damn good if Jordan plays well the next 2 weeks.

 

I know this is the easy position to take but I don't think 4-0 really guarantees anyone anything. The Cardinals started last year 4-0 and finished 5-11. That's just one example off the top of my head. Odds would be in our favor for sure, as they already are right now. What I'm essentially saying is the record would figure zero percent into my decision with respect to Wake. It would purely be about health and that's it. Same decision at 1-3 as at 4-0, IMO.

 

Hopefully Jordan is full strength at this point. I see him brewing there, seemingly ready to break out when he's in the game. I think if he plays half the snaps at some point, he'll make a huge impression. Perhaps on MNF for all to see? Made a nice impact on that last play.

Dude is also a lot bigger than he looked in college, not sure why. Perhaps it's the uniforms, and the way they make him look. I think he's going to be a monster, and why not start next week. Then, when Wake comes back, oh my!

The game against the Saints has no tie breaker implications beyond the win/loss, and considering the difficulty in going on the road into a dome on a Monday night against a team whose strengths match up with our weaknesses pretty much dead on, it's a good week to be conservative and sit people who need it. The Saints game plan on defense will likely be to try and knock Tannehill out, so my major concern is that we manage to get him out alive.

Monday night should also be an excellent opportunity to give Jordan a lot more work.

 

Bring him back when healthy. I don't care if that is Monday or Week 10 or whatever. His game is on explosion and quickness, if he does not have that why play him? Let's make sure he is good to go when he plays.

 

Bitter sweet. Good to hear the Kracken's okay. Still, I hope our secondary is ready to cover people for 5+ seconds at a time.

He already is playing well in the chances he's had. Of all the 4-3 DEs in the league, he is now 5th in pass rush productivity.

 

It was going to be tough to beat the Saints even with Wake in the lineup. Without him, I just don't see the defensive line putting a lot of pressure on Brees. He is a player the opposing offense always has to be aware of and he often has two players assigned to block him. No one else on the Dolphins defense can constantly apply the pressure Wake does.

With Wake out and Patterson still uncertain for the game, I would have to feel that the Saints have to be thankful they are playing the Dolphins this coming week. The Saints defense is much improved from last season and the Dolphins defense will struggle to contain Brees, Graham and the rest of the Saints receivers.

I thought before the season that the Dolphins would probably be 1-2 going into this game. So at 3-0, they are way ahead of where I thought they would be at this time of the season. Even if they lose this coming week, they will be able to rest some of their injured players and a 3-1 record should certainly keep them in the playoff race in the coming weeks.

 

A sprain is a tear. The tear(s) are minute, but that is what a 'sprain' indicates.

 

And to follow-up on this, I think CK is spot on as Wake thinks there's a chance he could go Monday against the Saints, according to James Walker anyways:

This sucks. Either way, I'm sure he'll be 'ready' in his mind for the saints. We'll see then whether or not the coaches agree. I doubt highly he misses Baltimore though, unless something else happens.

 

It's a long season. While it would be nice to have him back ASAP, we have to think long-term. Is it worth him coming back against the Saints only to aggravate it and be out longer? No. We need a healthy Wake for a deep playoff run :up:

I think Shelby, Vernon and Jordan will do just fine.

 

They mentioned during the game telecast that 75% of 3-0 teams made the playoffs. Obviously that means 25% didn't despite going 3-0. I assume some higher percentage of the 4-0 teams made it. Since its probably not 100%, its not a guarantee. And obviously past performance won't necessarily reflect future performance. But I'm liking our odds better than if we were something less than 3-0.

As for Wake, it sucks, but it makes no sense to bring him back before he's ready, on various levels.

 

Damn, that sucks. Of course it could have been worse.

I hope Philbin sent some tape in of the injury, because if I remember correctly, it looked like Wake was held, and almost horse collared to the ground on the play he got hurt.

Sadly, this really hurts our chances against the Saints. We pulled it out without him against the Falcons, and that offense is good, but the Saints are a whole other level of good above Atlanta IMO.

 

From my pov, why not use him as the designated passrusher and let someone else starts and does the heavy lifting.

This may have nothing to do with the injury, but Wake is so valuable I would like to see his safety protected as much as the refs protect QBs.

Refs need to call holding on guys like Wake, because when they don't it sends a message to Offensive players that they can do whatever they want to him and get away with it. That leads to pounding, awkward pulling, wrenching, twisting, tiring and frustrating the guy. All increase his chance of injury.

Holding is in the rule book. Call it refs.
