For a 5th round pick according to Schefter.

Good move. Toxic player, toxic contract. The draft is going to be interesting

I doubt this was done to keep clay. They have to be thinking about extending tannehill soon.

Can't complain really, he was going to be a June cut at minimum once we traded for Stills. Happy for Mike, think he will thrive there.
-
Not sure I approve of this one.
-
well kind of sucks it never worked out but at the same time i really like the potential this offense has and now hopefully we get clay locked up to make the offense even more explosive.
-
eh...better get clay now.

This is most likely a cap casualty of Suh we basically traded Wallace, a 3rd, and a 7th rounder for a lesser but cheaper version of Stills and a 5th rounder. Going to assume they needed cap space to resign Tannehill. However, I still feel our wr line up is a problem.

we were about to cut him and get nothing. instead we get a 5th?
tannenbaum is on a roll!Undisputed likes this. -
Going to have to look to add a legitimate #1 WR for sure now. Looks like WR in round one is back in play. Any way DGB falls to round two for the Dolphins?

we basically traded a 3rd for stills and a 5th and 7th

It's bittersweet because you let go of a talented athletic player for just a 5th round pick but consider this:
- Both Wallace and Ellerbe were thought to be likely cut this year, or next. Dolphins got compensation for both. That's a plus.
- They lose Wallace, but get a very acceptable replacement in the similarly skilled Kenny Stills, who is both younger and a hell of a lot cheaper.
- They purge all that money tied on the WR. Landry, Stills, Matthews and whatever new draft pick receiver they get will probably make less combined than Hartline made last year.
They also have cap space now for other moves.
So yeah, not bad or good, but bittersweet, IMHO.Tin Indian and gunn34 like this. -
Holy crap you guys. The Dolphins are like 10 times better than they were last week.
I am going to knock my wife up just so I can name my next kid Tannenbaum!

Ellerbe, Wallace, 3rd rounder for Stills and a 5th. I won't say it out loud but I see exactly what they're up to.

So in essence we get a 6 rd pick for wallace.... In another thread many wondered where should the credit go(Tannenbaum or Hickey) for the previous moves. Well this draft pick-swap trade has Tannenbaum written all over it b/c this is exactly what he did as gm of the stinkin jest. I absolutely hate these type of trades. If you want my player give me a pick. I'm not gonna include my own picks.

Looks like we gave up a 7th rd pick in the trade and got a 5th, didn't pick up both a 5th and 7th.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Miami has shipped the wideout to Minnesota along with a seventh-round pick. The Vikings will send a fifth-round pick back to the Dolphins.
