It's Josh Rosen day. Rejoice.

Ok, forget about a win today. That’s just not going to happen. Offensively what you WANT to see Josh Rosen MANAGE the offense and sustain drives. You want run plays called so Rosen can recognize defensive lineups.
You want run plays called for balance on offense.
You want those run plays called to legitimately set up play action pass, the evaluate Rosen’s mechanics, read progression and making the correct throw.
Those first 2 are big ifs, but if those two are done and executed relatively respectably, that will keep Dallas’ defense honest in their respect for the run and we should be able to get an honest evaluation of his reads and throws on passing plays.
Defensively, the defense has to step up and stop the run and force 3rd and long. The defense has been giving up substantial positive yardage on 1st and 2nd downs which has opened up all of our opponents playbook. Have to get back to basics and shut down 1st and 2nd down.
If we attempt to run the ball 25 times and take that pressure off of Rosen himself, regardless of the final score, I think we’re going to see a very respectable offensive output. If we ask Rosen to throw the ball 45 times and make zero effort to run, it’s going to be a blowout.
If the team is indeed tanking, at least do so in a manner where you can get a true read and evaluation on every player at every position and every responsibility. Open the playbook and run the plays, score be damned.

Another Sunday, another incoming blowout. Rosen is going to get his chance today, not that we're giving him much of a chance. In the end it's another L incoming.
Dallas 38, Miami 6. -
Just saying if Rosen is always in 3rd and long it's not the best thing either. -
Under Jason Garrett, Dallas has typically played to the level of their opponents--a frequent critique of the Garrett era.
I don't suspect Miami will find a W, but I do think this game will be much closer than the last two.

There are few if any teams in the league that can steamroll an opponent in the run game, or even generate an average run game for that matter, when the opponent is playing to stop the run.
Of course this is how teams can play you when you don’t have an adequate quarterback. They don’t have to respect the threat of the passing game because there isn’t one.
And this is of course how the functioning of the quarterback position ripples outward to all aspects of an NFL team.Last edited: Sep 22, 2019 -

Before I completed my BS/MBA here in Dayton, I spent some time attending UCLA and just saw their amazing comeback vs WashState...so anything can happen. Go Josh!!!

It would be nice for the defense to keep the score under 40, while offensively we don't give up a TD to Dallas' defense and score more than 10 points. Two TDs would be swell.
-
Dolphins will not score a point until the Cowboys backups are playing in the fourth quarter.
Game will be so bad that this thread will be shorter than 5 pages. -

Looks like the closing line is -22 for the Cowboys with O/U at 46.5. That means Vegas expects a score of 34-12 (ignoring the 0.5).
Not a ringing endorsement of Rosen, but at least it's one quantifiable benchmark we can measure today's game by: does the offense score 15+ points and does the defense not allow 30+ points. -

**** ya Parker! Thats how you make the big bucks.

Grant and Drake already with two dumb drops
-
Nice catch Parker

Well, holding a team to a FG is progress. Even avoiding a few three and outs on offense should keep the points given up down. Feels like a 33-13 kind of game. With Garrett coaching, make it 33-20.
-
Wow Hurns is done.. what a major hit to the head and no penalty.. wtf
-
Where's the flag?
-
A good receiver turns towards the ball and covers up. Also I know hes hurt but you have to catch that....
-
What? How is that not an illegal hit? What is Charles smoking? You can see and hear the helmets clash before anything else.
-
Switching back and forth between our game and jets/patriots.. gase super complex offense still as predictable as Dan Hennings
-
-
Yeah, I'm not sure how that's not a flag on Heath for hitting a defenseless player.. The reverse angle clearly shows helmet to helmet contact. Far lesser hits have been flagged
-
Special teams did not make the trip to Dallas I see.
-
Elliott is running the ball down our throats
-
Third and twenty? No problem. That was pathetic.
-
That was pathetic defense, 3rd and 20 and we go prevent? At 3rd and 20 you should be blitzing.. i would have sent 7 guys daks way he would have nowhere to run
-
There was no hold there, the refs are doing their part to help out a Cowboys team that won't need it anyway.
Although, it might be Ross working the refs, to get that #1 pick. -
I keep telling everyone you have to be able to run the ball and Dallas is putting on a clinic on how to run and win
-
Xavien has been torched twice by Cooper. Not a good look.
-
Lol we sent three to Dak. I thought Flores was some defensive specialist?
