Well, I've got some issues after rewatching the game for the second time.
1. Waay to undisciplined, too many flags, that is not Sparano Ball
2. Eric Green is Sparano's Tavares Tillman
3. Starter against Starter, the Jags Dline won the battle in the running game
4. The TPain song
5.Guys were not making plays for P White, his stat line says "2-7 1 int" but he played much better than that he cannot throw and catch his own passes.
I did like the fact our 3rd team defense was not going to roll over and give up a score, and I did think our Special Teams units played well.
Thoughts?

The running game was a concern of mine as well, though Jacksonville has some pretty meaty dudes in the middle of that DLine, plus we didn't try much outside. -
 @ #4 Padre ... my comment in the game thread was "MY EARS! DEAR GOD MY EARS!"
I thought that we were pretty disciplined, there was some miscommunication and things like that, but then again, it was the first preseason game. Most of our penalties came with the second and third team, the only first team penalty was Don Thomas's false start.
I agree that Eric Green looked pretty darned bad, but then again, the Jags were clearly targeting him. Vontae made some mistakes and didn't look all that impressive either.
It's a good effort to build on - be glad we looked like this now and not in week 1 of the regular season.Frumundah Finnatic, dolfan7171, GISH and 1 other person like this. -
I didn't like all those Jacksonville penalties  they slowed the game down horribly.

Two penalties were completely ticky tack, vontae's playful touch on the returner, and the late hit on our saftey was a joke.

Off top, I like the Tpain song. Well like is a relavite word. It's not horrible, it's just not good either. The fight song needs to be updated. I give them an A for effort on that, C- for execution.
Eric Green... wow. Not a good debut. He unless lighting strikes Smith he isn't going to sniff the starting lineup.
Oline was disappointing, but I am still hopeful. Two new starters on the Oline so that might be part of it. We didn't iron out the kinks in the Oline last year until the 3rd or 4th game, so I will be patient.
I was slightly surprised that Randy Starks started over Merlin. All the training camp articles suggest he would, but I was expecting Merlin for some reason. I hope whoever it is plays well in the regular season. If they can't keep the Oline off our LB's then stopping the run is going to be an issue. -
Ithought it looked like the first preseason football game.
Defence ahead of the offfence as it usualy is this time of year.
The offensive line has to run block better,it take a little while time for them to get thier timeing down,I think they will and we should see improvement Saturday. -

I used to call Tillman "asbestos helmet" Green may need a nickname like "runway" or "I-22" when you need to move the ball, go that route.. -

Maybe I'm, way off base here but I thought the O line did a fair job compared to last season. The RB's were getting hit mostly at the line rather than behind the LOS. A few times it seemed as though we were about to break a couple good gains. These guys are still learning each other. I think once D Thomas is back full time with the firsts and they play consistently we will begin to see some real holes begin to open.

I was just glad to see a game. It's been a long time coming and I was just happy to see it. Yes, there was some ups and downs but hey, it is the first game. Did anyone think the Dolphins would be in midseason already?

It was the first preseason game, pretty much exposed our areas we need to work on, like the first string OL/running game. Vontae learned a few lessons, and Smith showed he will be our starting CB opposite Will Allen - I like that! Green looked like this year's Wilford, and Wilford looked like he wants to make the team.
All in all a lot of fodder for Tony to chew on some players in today's team meetings.Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -

Actually...
I thought we looked pretty damned good for a first pre season game. With all of the motion on the offense...I cant remember a false start..or at least one that was glaring. Well, there was the one Henne kinda caused at the goal line, but that was the play clock going down...
Hell...Illl say it. Our ST's looks lightyears better than last season.
I saw something good out of the key areas I wanted to. Shawn Smith....Teddy Gin....Chad Henne....and pressure from the D.
Very solid effort and yeh..there were some mistakes...but for a first pre season..Ive seen much worse efforts.djphinfan likes this.
