As far as using the last 3 years, that might make sense for Brady (his rating is 98.1 at Tampa over 3 years) but not for Tua. QBs that last long in the league generally improve their first 3-4 years, and Tua is so far following that mold. For Tua you need to look at year 3 as the better predictor of what happens in year 4 etc. Hard to argue we're going back to the Tua we saw in years 1-2.

You are assuming Tua will last long in the league which is a rather crazy leap considering his history. Year 3 of Tua isn't an actual representation of who he is. The final MONTH of the season Tua had a 52.59 completion % with a 80.5 rating. Defenses were catching up, and he missed a lot of difficult opponents.

Neither Tua nor Brady may last long. I don't see a big difference there. And you don't cherry pick the last month for comparison purposes. I think the last month shows Tua choked in 2 out of 3 must-win games (SF wasn't a must-win), and that's something he needs to improve on, but for comparing overall effectiveness you have to use the entire year.

btw.. regarding the defensive adjustments, McDaniel and Tua now have an entire offseason to further improve. I wouldn't discount that extra time. Tua clearly is a better QB in year 3 than in years 1-2.

You are cherrypicking this year, which is essentially a few months. I'm just breaking it up further to show you defenses learned what McDaniel was doing and took away the middle of the field. Messed with Tua's timing by bumping receivers. Once that was done, Tua was cooked for an entire month and went 0-4. Additionally, he missed very difficult opponents. You are looking at a mirage with Tua. Things will normalize and he'll be average-ish even if he stays upright.

OK that's a prediction, and we'll see whether you're right or wrong, but based on the data we have, Tua and Brady in their current states (including Tua's injuries) are leading similarly effective (or non-effective) offenses. So back to the original question, if the difference isn't that large I'd go with the young QB that has the potential to improve.

I'd go with the one that has shown greatness as recent as last season, and has a career of greatness. Not to mention, being able to actually stay on the field so we don't have to start Skylar Thompson in two straight win or go home games. Give him McDaniel's scheme and weapons. Offseason of focus. He's 2021 Brady. That upside is just too sexy.

Most impressive "old" champion I can think of in any sport was Randy Couture keeping the UFC Heavyweight title until the age of 45. I think even if Brady somehow wins another SB that for me will be the epitome of what an athlete can do at an advanced age.

The stats you are talking about are rate stats. He led the league BECAUSE of his time off. There's no STILL here.

BECAUSE he didn't need to play through seasonal bumps and bruises
BECAUSE he didn't face the Jets 2x who have the best pass defense in the AFC
BECAUSE he has a generational WR, and the best WR duo in the league
BECAUSE his opponents were mostly weak

Brady knows how to actually protect himself and stay healthy. Tua doesn't, and he hasn't since high school. Age is irrelevant.

I'd be ecstatic. However, Tua hasn't been able to win in high pressure games in his NFL career. He's choked multiple times now. Superbowl? He hasn't won one playoff game. Set some realistic expectations sir.

Fact of the matter is, Tom Brady did not play better than Tua this season. And what you're suggesting is we roll the dice and hope that a QB that is going to be 46 years before the next preseason starts is magically turn back the clock to his prime.
