Seriously though. I can't think of anything good with this guy except QB keepers and dump offs. Once in a while he'll make a good deep pass but that's something that every QB in the league is able to do. Is there anything that's he's exceptional at that would warrant his contract? How long will it take the Dolphins to end the Tannehill era?

That's it though. He's not a cerebral QB and lacks natural feel for the pocket. His arm strength often masks his deficiencies. -
All he is good at after what I saw tonight, is dividing a message board.
The problems I saw tonight aren't fixable. He will sprinkle in a couple good games per usual but he is not a QB you can win anything significant with.

Tannehill is good at the read option and passing the ball when he has 5+ seconds to throw.

I think it is becoming evident that Miami will be making a huge decision in the offseason regarding him

The question is how do they acquire a qb? If they are 6-10 they have to give assets up to move up. They need to essentially tank the season. I never thought after 4 games we would have this discussion. I expected huge things from Tannehill. But he is overwhelmed right now and the "project" is over.

He'll look good holding a clipboard next year.

He's good at being robotic. He's good at not reading pressure and taking a billion sacks. Marino was more mobile in the pocket in the 90s with his legs all braced up.
Some Tannehill fans will blame the OL certainly. But what they fail to acknowledge is that every OL in the league will have breakdowns. Great...even good QBs find a way to extend the play or at the very least get out of the pocket and throw the ball away.
Tannehill doesn't do this. He stands in the pocket, either holds it until he is sacked or forces a bad pass for an I-N-T. He has virtually no lateral movement in the pocket. As far as I'm concerned the Tannehill era is over. I am just waiting for it to officially expire.
And no I don't think Matt Moore is the answer. Our QB search must continue however. -
Gase hasn't called him out yet. In the press conference, he blamed everyone. The season is in the next 5 weeks, 4 home games with a bye in there. I think if we come out with only a couple wins, we have to move on
-
Hopefully, our QB of the future is getting ready to arrive soon. -
Gase's offense is supposed to be a base 2 TE package but our personnel is horrible for the system he wants to run. I like Tannehill but have accepted that he will never be elite and always an average QB. No shame in that as only a handful of teams have an elite QB.

Chad Kelly is going to be a top ten pick and may very well be the top pick of the draft by the end of the season.

We're rebuilding. I don't think Tannehill will be here after next year. He can't realistically be cut or traded this year or next with his contract. Miami can draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th round.
Tannehill is the Koa Misi of our offense. A limited player that we have been unwilling to replace since there are other, even more pressing needs.
I don't think replacing Tannehill with a better QB last night would have given us a win. Bengals are a talented team who could have scored more points if they needed. I think if Marino had been back there, you'd have more downfield interceptions, and fewer sack/fumbles, but still we lose.Fin-O likes this. -
If Gase wants to coach here more than two seasons, he gets rid of Tannehill in the offseason and drafts a QB. It's that simple.
-
Look, Ryan may never be more than the average/slightly above average QB he's been, but to see he does nothing well is ignorant. You don't put up 2:1 TD:INT ratio three straight seasons by not doing anything well. It's a ridiculous line of thinking. He's simply just inconsistent.

Problem is, is there even as close to sure fire as you can get QB even going to be available in the draft next year? Tannehill is clearly not the guy but who in the heck do we replace him with? Another thing is this team has so many holes in the roster that simply replacing the QB isn't going to help in the least.

He was a project, it was going to take good surroundings and good coaching for him to become a good NFL QB.
It was a bad situation for him but atleast he is a multi millionare for it. Now we are 13 games from being back to square one.
This isn't some game of "I told you so" it's a sad reality for us die hard fans, good luck 17 and safe travels.
