The best car commercial ever
Ford is the one US auto maker not asking for a bailout or a handout. They have now come up with this timely and heartwarming product commercial that would make Henry Ford proud of the company he founded in 1903. To be completely honest you may want a Kleenex tissue nearby while watching this.
Enjoy!

The dad was in The Wire...best TV show
It's 4 minutes long...where did they play it? -
Being in the ad business, this was a very well done commercial.
But I hope you all understand it wasn't made to make a point or anything noble, it was made to specifically tug at your heart strings to make you want a car. If times were different, they'd have made an anti-war commercial. It is no more patriotic than Toby Keith.TheAnswer385 and TrueDolFan like this. -

I don't see how more people aren't offended by his "patriotism" merely to sell albums. He is the country music equivalent of a snake oil salesman. All show and no substance, and will co-opt anything to make a buck.
Also no surprise that he's a Ford spokesman.
Ford makes a great car, but this type of advertising to me is shameful.FinSane, Dol-Fan Dupree, Stitches and 1 other person like this. -

For the record, I HATE Country Music... I loathe it.... My wife, she loves it, lives it..and thats fine.
She made me sit through a CD that was all about being American. Some great thought behind that......if you cant see through that I am truely sorry. I have no problem that the man makes money cause he helps thousands across the Country feel proud about being American.... I have no problem with Ford doing the same thing. Like it or not, Ford is about as American as it comes. Nothing you can say or do or twist will change that.
Guess what. The Dolphins are also in it to make money my friend. Does that make them any less important, American or less fond in your heart? Just askin..... -
I don't care if he makes money. I care that he capitalizes on his "patriotism" to make a buck. Lee Greenwood (right?) wrote God Bless The USA and makes plenty of money off of it, but that seemed to come from genuine patriotism, and all power to him. Toby's crap, seems more of I can make a lot of money with a patriotic song, cause the people will love it.
Its the difference between real artists and pop artists. Does that make sense? -

His father was a soldier who was injured in action, and he obviously had a big influence on Toby when we was growing up. "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (An Angry American)" was written by Toby and dedicated to his father shortly after he died, and in the wake of 911.

This is not proof of his patriotism. My dad was a mechanic and I've real no appreciation for cars. The way and times when he releases his "patriotiuc" songs tell me a different story.
Also, the link says he didn't want to release the song, but yet he did, as the lead single no less to a new album. That is absolutely, co-opting patriotism to make a buck. Its textbook in fact.

Fair enough Finascious. I reckon we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on this matter. Which, is OK. In fact, it's one of many things that makes this country the greatest. Hopefully we can both agree on that.
Peace...
Oh, and thanks for the props azfinfanmang. Appreciate it brother. :up:Fin D and azfinfanmang like this. -
There is more than just patriotism to this commercial. It's also very much about one generation handing something down to the other. The kid could have just as easily come home from college. The generational thing is also illustrated with his dad being a soldier too. Yes patriotic but not exclusively. Dads passing down a car to the next generation is a common and old theme. The soldier aspect adds to the atmosphere and familiarity of the the story based on current events. Fiction often uses current headlines to paint the background for it's picture.
Of course they are trying to sell their product. Kind of needed to stay in business. But they are doing it in a nice way and by saying our product is worth enough that a father would pass it on to his son including patriotic fathers and sons. I liked this ad. It reminded me of all I have learned from my father more than it made me think of the war or American values. I am not saying it isn't trying to hit the patriotic demographic. I just think that there is more to it than that. -

I think everybody here not named Pagan :tongue2: would agree that it was completely underwhelming to go from a shot of that sweet vintage Mustang to the garage opening up to that brand new one... I chuckled, actually. -
But the bottom line is this...
The newer ones are better built, handle better, and are faster. Dem's just the facts. :DDOLPHAN1 likes this. -
'70-'74 'Cuda is my DREAM CAR! Why did you get rid of it?!
That may well be, but those '70s muscle cars just look SO bad-***! -
Where I was living at the time, the driveway was REALLY long and tree lined. This asshat thought it was a street, turned into it and gunned his redneck mobile...straight into the front of my 'Cuda.
Someone actually offered me decent money for the wreck, and my beloved 'Cuda now rests on my wife's finger as a 10 year Anniversary ring.

It's true the new Mustangs are mechancally better than the classics but I still like the look of the late 60's mustangs more than the current. The new ones look good but the 69 and 70 Mustang mach 1 was my dream car for many years and still is to a degree.
If I had been the dad in that story I'd keep the vintage too. -
Ford's quality is equal to or better than Toyota and Honda right now. I've put 34K HARD miles on my Mustang, and there isn't even a squeak in the body yet.
