This year because we don’t have a pick Til 51 the fun part of the game is listing all the players I’ve looked at where I’m like if he’s available at 51 it’s a no brainer, that way the draft for me will be tracking those guys and hoping one drops, realistically of course, Bijan is not dropping
Here’s where I’m at thus far.
Trenton Simpson
Jamyr Gibbs
Darnell Washington
Dalton Kincaid
Michael Mayer
Paris Johnson
Darnell Wright
Who else is a no brainer ?

FOr me, I want one of the top 2 RTs to fall to 51. The instant impact we get from a rookie RT that can win that job. Even if we get average play from a rookie RT, it's a huge improvement. Then we get a good a decent TE prospect in 3rd. I know a RB would be exciting, but in a deep draft, we can get an upgrade over Gaskin and/or Ahmed in later rounds.

I’m hoping we can package Grier and a 7th rounder next year and get a real GM. But who am I kidding we will probably get TED GIN jr jr

In one season full of starting, Richardson has thrown 17 TDs, 9 INTs, and had a completion percentage of 54%. Hendon Hooker threw 12 INTs in his entire career.djphinfan likes this. -
Most of the skepticism on him that I’ve read centers on the offense he was in at Tennessee and its compatibility (or lack thereof) with an NFL offense, not the numbers he put up. Plus, he’ll be 26 and coming of the ACL injury, which is also part of why he’s not projected until the second round at the earliest.texanphinatic likes this. -
Now, this is where things are actually really kinda of interesting. I really do not think the Dolphins should be looking for the same things as the rest of the league. Think back to that injury. Do we need him to play week one? No. That is not the plan at all. Is playing time and experience something we might be willing to trade for age? I think the answer is yes. We have a Super Bowl roster. We are ready to win right now.
What are the implications of an older QB as our Plan B if Tua continues to get hurt/have concussions? Well, I am glad you asked. If we wind up having to move off Tua, and Hooker is works out in a quarterback friendly system, it means the good times will continue to roll. A starting QB with a late second round salary means you can continue to spend in free agency and get top tier free agents.
This makes sense on A LOT of different levels. -
could Bijan or Jamhyr Gibbs fall to us because the NFL oesnt care about the position like it used to..
Barnwell thinks perhaps.

Normally, I would be looking for OL in at least one of those spots, but with Grier doing the drafting… -
The league’s implementation of rules hindering defenses in what constitutes illegal contact, holding, pass interference, unnecessary roughness, roughing the passer, etc paved the road for quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and drew Brees. Now I’m not taking anything away from these players abilities, the league set these players up for their success by re-inventing offensive football to emphasize their skills set.
What’s been lost however in the evolution of offensive football however is the greatness and importance of the running back. Now I’m not saying that great running backs were a dime a dozen, but back when football was in its purer form, running backs were THE offensive weapon. Brown, Sayers, Csonka, Campbell, Harris, Payton, Thomas, Sanders, Smith…these were feared and respected players that defensive coordinators lost sleep in order to figure out how to stop.
With the exception of a VERY few, like Derrick Henry, running backs have been reduced to a check down receiver, a 2nd and 1 rusher and hoping he can help run out the clock after running up the score. -

A take on Miami’s options at RB in the draft:

Nobody bringing up OL? Dawand Jones is a possibility to fall and would probably plug and play. Darnell Wright would be the dream, but by all accounts the league is on him and he will go in Rd1. Anton Harrison would be nice. That said, everything both Grier and McDaniel say indicates no OL despite LG/RT being THE most glaring and obvious holes.
I could see DT if maybe Breese or Mazi Smith fall.
I don't feel like we will spend 51 on a RB or TE so I'd cross them out. -

Saw an ESPN mock that had us taking Torrance from Florida at 51. Don’t know if he’d still be there, but I’d like that pick.
