I'm as upset as most here that Philbin wasn't fired. Upset enough I decided to post for the first time HA! In a nutshell, I think Philbin is better at building a team than leading a team. His lack of ability to out-think the opposing coach during game-time (except for halftime adjustments) has clearly cost us some games.
So, why not delegate his weakness to someone else?
Why not have a coach dedicated to being a game manager?
This shouldn't weaken the position of "head coach" any more than offensive and defensive coordinators already do.
I'd be fine with Philbin continuing to build this team IF someone else took over the within-game decision duties Philbin has.
