Dude. The majority of teams in the league have a bad oline. It is up to the QB to work with what he has to be great. Brady has a bad oline but you never seen him get sacked or fumble the ball away every game.

 

I'm sorry but every bit of this offense sucks. Tannehill is nothing special. Pouncey is WAY over-rated. The Guards aren't starting caliber. For that matter, I'm sick of hearing people talk about Landry as though he's Dez Bryant. No, I'm sorry, he's not.

On a good offense I feel that Landry, Miller, Matthews, James and Albert would be valuable pieces. The rest I can live without quite honestly. Maybe you build around those guys. On defense it's even worse. I think Suh and Jones are the only real talent the defense has.

You can spend as long as you want trying to make the O-line better, Tannehill's not the answer. He's simply not a great QB. I'm sorry if that offends people. He was a project when he was drafted and he hasn't grown enough since that time to have me consider him a real weapon. When your QB isn't a weapon, you likely suck and that's what Miami does right now.

 

Tannehill just isn't a smart QB. OL is bad yeah, but you can't blame all those pressures/sacks on the OL. Tannehill doesn't sense pressure, he locks onto receivers and doesn't negate sacks by throwing the ball away when he can. The guy's decision-making is just slow.

 

Yeah, at this point, even though I don't believe that Tannehill is really at fault, I think I'm on board with getting someone else IF we find a better option.

Hell, let's just roll with Moore, and see what he can do. At least then we'd have a better idea about how much of the issues we see are actually on Tannehill.

 

Moore isn't good enough. We have no other options this season. We need to use the rest of the season to check out our other rookies (Parker please!!!). Ajayi at least looks promising (though he nearly had a butt-fumble moment today haha!).

We need to get some real QB competition next year. Tannehill will be one of the options in 2016, but we need competition in training camp.

And MOST importantly, we need better coaches. THAT is the biggest weakness on this team.

 

I'm totally behind RT17. Its a terrible shame what he's had to deal with on the OL for basically his entire time here. All we can do is hope that the FO fixes the holes for real in the offseason, and guys stay healthy. I want Tannehill as our QB for the next decade.

I don't think it's an overstatement that this upcoming offseason will be one of the most important of the last decade. We have to decide who our next HC is, our next OC and DC (all very important decisions), a decision made for the future of the QB position (regardless of where one stands, that is a key decision that has to be made), and tons of key holes to fill.

What happens this next offseason will be the difference between having a future playoff team or more mediocrity for quite awhile because there is no blueprint to follow and keep building on.

Yeah, Suh is now playing like the dominant player we hoped he'd be for us. Too bad it's not translating into an overall dominant defense (especially run defense). I blame that on the DC more than anyone else.

 

I acknowlege that pocket presence is one of his weaknesses. However, I feel that the good strongly outnumbers the bad with him, and that if we make the right choices around him, he will shine.

 

Oh, I don't think Moore is any sort of answer. I just wonder what the offense would look like with someone else at QB. Would tell us alot about Tannehill, either way.

I'd like to see what would happen just out of curiosity. Problem is, the last we saw of Matt Moore (pre-season) he was hot garbage. I don't expect that a guy who's been a backup for the last 4 seasons will be ale to walk right in and perform better than Tannehill.

You are talking about getting two offensive linemen. That isn't exactly rebuilding an entire line. 3/4s of the gms in the league could do that. Hopefully ours can

 

I think you need to think about replacing Albert as he just can't stay healthy.

the ol will get better when t-hill leaves. it's his fault the ol can't make simple deductions as to who has what assignment.

 

He's going to be here next season. The cap hit for cutting him would be too high, and makes it a wash. If he's not worth bringing back in 2017, we can get a net gain of about 4 mil by cutting him then, though if he can stay healthy for the next season and a half, I think that a restructure going into 2017 could make sense too.

 

THE logic of this post baffles me. Pouncey makes the line calls not the QB

 

I would draft an OT with the first or second round and have him play guard his first year. If Albert gets hurt we slip him out to OT. Then I would get an OG in FA. Not the best OG, just someone who is average to good. Preferrably someone who can play both right and left

 

Must be a really sad day for a lot of posters today . So many Dolphin "fans" upset with the win. Keep up hope, maybe we might lose next week and these people can smile again.

Tannehill led a 12 yard TD drive today after a special team blocked punt. In the second half, he led one decent drive that led to a TD only because a batted ball was fortunate enough to end up in the hands of Landry and not in the hands of the two defenders close to Landry.
Dolphins won today because the defense made the stops they needed to make in the second half and because Sanchez showed why he is not longer a starting QB in the NFL.

The Dolphins won today in spite of Tannehill, not because of Tannehill.

Its certainly been a valid strategy in the past. I've been in favor of it in recent drafts too.

 

Eh, I don't think Tannehill did anything special, but I don't think he was that bad either. He basically just stayed out of the way for the most part.

 

No.. because I think it's clear how great a talent Suh is, and we had Wake who in his role as pass rusher was one of the best, and we still produced well below what I think that talent level should have performed. So for me it's mostly the DC that's the problem.

9 games into the season and Miami has faced one team with a better QB than Tannehill. An all time great.

Sure we'd all love a Rodgers or Brady but it's not as easy as dialing 1 800 GreatQB.

 

Thank god you are here to temper any excitement. God forbid people enjoy this win for more than 5 minutes.. Thanks . Don't venture too far from the computer . Someone might post something positive or try to smile.. Then your black cloud can come back and rain on them.

Wake was hurt. He only liked healthy for 2.5 games.

And I'm curious as to what you think the DC should be doing differently.

 

Tannehill is average. Problem is, as you point out, it's hard to find one that's clearly better. But.. 1) that doesn't negate any valid criticism of his play, and 2) it's getting to the point where we at least need to provide competition for him in training camp because I don't think he's made it so crystal clear that he's our QB of the future (obviously some disagree, but I think many more agree on this).

Wish I knew dude.. I'm not the DC. All I'm looking at is the result, how different it was from Detroit, and the apparent talent level on the DL. So yeah, no one knows exactly what the problem or the solution is, but on balance the blame for me seems to rest more with the DC than with the players' talent.

 

wake was hurt the first four games of the season. when he was healthy he was getting sacks left and right. suh took a little while to find his groove but he's playing extremely well lately. vernon and mitchell played well today. the secondary and linebacking corps are full of 2nd and 3rd stringers now

 

This. He may not be the problem, but he is not the solution. The issue is, how to find a viable replacement? I think we need to start looking at mid round QBs or a capable manager vet backup. Maybe light a fire.

Or just draft an OT, play him at LT and bump Albert to guard. Sign a halfway decent vet as you said, a competent backup for Albert's inevitable injury. I mean, you can pretty much count on Albert going down at this point. Give the rookie snaps at his natural position in TC and pre-season.

 

Agree with all that. What I have a hard time explaining is how they can run up the middle.. they did that whether Wake was in there or not. We have good enough interior DL so that shouldn't be happening (today was a bit better though).
