Was just cut from the bengals. had 600 yards and 3 tds in rookie year, tore acl week 2 last year. Worth a look in our WCO ?

I loved that guy in college and wanted him when he was drafted. I'd pick him up on this squad in a heartbeat. Then again you have to see why he was cut, obviously.

Wonder if hes not healing and their moving on? Very odd with a young guy.

Knee not responding well. Probably needs to take another year off. Slot receiver where we seem to already have a few of those.

Thanks Chris, I wanted to know if he'd fit or not.

He fits. If hes healthy in this offense there is big upside for his welker-type skills. He obviously has to develop further but hes a low risk high reward guy imo. Even if he has a duplicate skillset to a wr or two, talent is talent. Once hes healthy hes a good fit IMO

The Bengals are pretty stacked with young WR talent and likely cut him early for his own benefit. Sanu looks to be a player...all of a sudden the Bengals have started to draft well the past 3-4 years.

CincyJungle.coms message board believes his knee just isnt responding well to action, thats grounds for passing on him for now.

All seems moot at this point, all my reads suggest Shipley just isnt where he needs to be from a health standpoint. Sucks for him because he couldve been a real nice #2 target for Andy Dalton for years to come -

Shipley is more Brian Hartline than Davone Bess, and for that matter neither one of them are limited to slot receivers.
I think the main factor is if you have the roster space/time for him.MrClean likes this. -

I watched Shipley play his entire career at UT, where he was fantastic. He was actually looking good with the Bengals till injuries stacked up, he has a history of those, so its buyer beware. In the Bengals broadcast last night, they noted that the Bengals had 8 to 9 guys that can play, and are prototype receivers. They have more that will hit the streets, but I have not examined their roster to determine who those candidates may be.
