I'm really happy to see it. If he's healthy, then I think that Howard will remain a high level player for a while. We've had far too few opprotunities to lock up a young stud long term lately. This is nice.
Now, talk to Tunsil's agents!Tin Indian and Miamiforlife like this. -

I wonder if a deal like this, adds to the persona around a player and make QBs more scared to throw at him.....I'm just spitballin'....

Yes, pick your players and set the market. Only question will be health, otherwise hes a franchise building block. Hopefully Wilkins can be on the DL too. Good progress, but it will all rest on Flores' teaching.

Is he trying to keep his name in the good graces of the evaluation business..?
Sounds like it to me.Surfs Up 99 likes this. -

I thought he was in charge of the landscaping outside the stadium? -
EDIT - Yep, ESPN - https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/07/mike-tannenbaum-moves-from-dolphins-to-espn/
"...That exit has led him to ESPN, where he will appear on their NFL programming and serve as an analyst for the 2019 draft coverage on ESPN Radio.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity,” Tannenbaum said, via the Miami Herald. “I’ve always admired the people and professionals at ESPN, and I’m excited to be a part of the team.”" -

Not much credit to mr Grier the Gm when X was drafted..
The only way he should be allowed to use the word “ we” is if he too wanted X at that spot in the 2nd, and if he did, Kudos to him.Last edited: May 10, 2019 -
Of course he has the armor of knowing Grier wouldnt call him out because he WAS part of the staff whether he wanted X or not. -
Glad he signed but I’m not happy about making him the highest paid CB in the league! He doesn’t deserve it IMHO. He also has been hurt a lot I hope we have some clauses in this and it’s not all guaranteed because I don’t think he will stay healthy!! He also doesn’t grade out at the top CB in the league.

I understand this sentiment, but there are a few things to consider:
1. We suck at retaining talent, and you have to pay them to do so. I'm glad we got ahead of it for once. After the barren dessert that were our drafts in the 2000's, it's been awful to see quality draft talent ship off time and time again.
2. He'll be highest paid this year, but not next. He's a top 5 corner and his salary next year and going forward will reflect that. We have the cap space to do this now and it'll make it easier later. It's a smart move looking long term fiscally.
3. I'm hoping this signals a culture shift, where we draft and develop players that fit our system, and pay to keep them when necessary instead of spending on outside FA's.resnor and Unlucky 13 like this. -

Being the top paid whatever in the NFL is a very temporary thing. In two years, Howard will be the 5th or 6th highest paid CB and in four years he'll be the 12th or so.
Other than some minor concern about his durability, he is the kind of young player worth paying to keep around.resnor likes this.
