That's a terrific stat. He also had more than double the number of interceptions that the #3 CB in the league does, with a handful of guys tied at 4. And more than double the guys in 4th and 5th place put together, if you pick any of the eight guys who have 4 picks at any position.

The all-time record in the SB era is 13 by Lester Hayes in 1980. It's within reach.

The problem though is that nobody throws Howard's way anymore. They are flat out declaring him on an island as the sole owner of that real estate. His most recent picks have come in the 4th quarter...likely when tired quarterbacks forget that they can't go that direction with the football no matter what.resnor likes this. -

I just hope it's not all for nothing. How many awesome seasons did Reshad Jones have for us on losing teams? We need to make the playoffs. Howard needs to continue his tear. This may be his best statistical season that he has and it'd be nice to see it carry over into the postseason.

I think it would be swell and once you are in the playoffs anything can happen. Worse teams made it to the Superbowl.
The turnaround this year has been amazing, and honestly next year I am giving my hopes up and hoping for a Superbowl.djphinfan and Silverphin like this. -

After Madison picked off his 21st pass with the Fins (the number Howard has, but two years younger), he went on to start five more seasons with Miami and than three with the Giants. After Surtain did, he played a season and a half more with Miami, and then three with Kansas City. He was roughly the same age that Howard is now at the same point.
So, lets enjoy it and hope for the best. But at the same point, realize that Howard is likely closer to the end of his greatness than the start. -
Without our starting receivers and RB's, I can see us going 0-3 and honestly, I'm okay with that. Yet my gut tells me to expect 2-1 or even 3-0....the best team in the league barely beat us when our injuries were at their worst for the year so far. So if we do somehow make the playoffs, I wouldn't be shocked to see us end up in the AFC championship to complete the Cinderella year just like the Miami Heat. Could you even imagine?!?
But if that doesn't happen, I'm just as content for 2020. It would be impossible to ask for even more from this team.Phil Hutchings, Puka-head, Dol-Fan Dupree and 1 other person like this. -
I really love what the X-Man has accomplished this season. He’s an interception machine! I know with his age he’s probably at the apex of his career but I certainly hope he’s able to maintain a good percentage of this level next season.
Friggin phenomenal year for the man...and our team! -
If Flores is the type of coach that wins when it counts, then there's no reason to be content ending the season 0-3 or 1-2. If Tua is a great QB in the making instead of just an above average game manager, then he should be able to play well with a bad surrounding cast, like many elite QB's do, especially since such ability seems more innate than learned.
I do agree this will be a highly successful season no matter what happens, but I think these last 4 games (including KC, which went well) provide a good test bed for proving whether this is an elite HC + QB combo or just a good one.KeyFin likes this. -
Missing you're 3 starting RB, 2 starting WR and your starting TE is more than just not having a supporting cast. 6 out of 11 of your starters and all of your play makers gone (if you consider the O linemen as not playmakers). Reasons vs. excuses if we don't finish in the playoffs.
The defense hopefully confuses Cam and makes him into the turnover machine that he's turns into. That at least would get us into the next week and hopefully get a RB or 2 back to give us a fighting chance to go 10-6.Unlucky 13 likes this. -

All I meant was that if it doesn't happen...any of it...the year was still a success. This is 100% a playoff caliber team that's come down on some hard luck, but playoff teams often find a way to win anyway. Hopefully we're at that point this season but I'm okay if it takes another year.Phil Hutchings and cbrad like this. -
And heck, against most teams, the defense contributes to an easy 7+ points per game. Like MC Hammer said, 2 Legit 2 Quit.
In the past, it would have taken 45+ to beat KC or other top teams in the league. That's not our reality anymore and that greatly reduces the pressure on Tua to be perfect every single drive. I mean, that's still the goal every week....but there's a reason we don't see teams scoring 70+ points in the NFL.resnor likes this. -

Although Grier has only been in his current role, with clear power over football ops for a few seasons, its easy to forget that he's been with the Fins since the start of the Wanny era, and nearly every player they've drafted since the Cameron era has been with him in charge of that scouting dept.resnor and jdallen1222 like this. -
