He's lucky he even got a chance to try out, if it was me, he wouldn't..I mean if you don't have the basic intellect to correlate being a pro athlete and training and eating to do so, your an idiot and I wouldn't want you on my team..don't care if I miss out on some players that are exceptions..this lack of understanding is unacceptable in the sport..

He is right, this idea that you should look like a bodybuilder to be an athlete is outright bull****, I can recall a heavy, mid to late 40's George Foreman whipping those body builder types asses in the boxing ring.

I would pay to see dj kick Wilfork out of camp because he doesn't have the ideal body of an athlete. :) Sometimes with some positions, it's not about six packs. It is about core strength and leverage. You gain leverage with weight. As long as you have the core strength to carry the weight around, you will be better at your DT, OG, etc. positions before a P90X session rather than after.

Every body has an optimum genetic projection, if you are not doing the necessary things to get to that optimum level in pursuit of a pro sport, you are a lazy Putz, if you want to sustain a certain weight like 300 lbs then yes, your frame has to substantiate that and your caloric intake will have to Reflect that to sustain, however, it does not mean what's underneath cannot be at it's optimum level, You can certainly up your caloric intake and sustain a heavier weight by eating great foods and a scientific approach.
I don't know this kid, maybe that's what he's doing, but he sure doesn't sound like he gets what I'm talking about.
If your trying to be a pro athlete or you are one, It's really not hard to eat right, and workout correctly relative to what weight your body can realistically project to without sacrificing athleticism.Bpk likes this. -

I thought this was a light hearted joke and I found it pretty funny. I don't think he was trying to make a serious point in any way. Apparently AJ Francis was well known for being a locker room comedian in college, I'm guessing we'll get some more on him during camp when the reporters need to fill column space, much like Jarrell Root last year.

Nobody should be expecting him to have more lean muscle at that weight but he can def improve his body a lot.
At 300lbs and solid you'll def have some more body fat but you'll also be way more developed than the guys in question.Bpk likes this. -

What your saying is to sacrifice talent, quickness and energy, for some extra girth that may or may not add some strength..I don't believe in that, if your body doesn't project to be that 300 pounder you covet, than you don't try to fit a square peg in a round hole, you wait.Bpk likes this. -

I haven't studied the kids body, haven't tested his ratio, don't know his workout routine and for how long he's been doing it..but my main point is if he or any player is slacking in that dept, and their eating to just add weight, then they are not getting the optimum level that their bodies could produce.Bpk likes this.
