Never know Deej, for example what are his practice habits like? Does he learn quickly?

What is more impressive to me is he is performing behind a dreadful offensive line when it comes to pass blocking, if you think about Rivers, Ben R and Rodgers, other then having last names that begin with R's, is all they stepped into offenses that were well established, MMoore stepped into a 0-3 team that is about to set the club record for the number of sacks allowed.

 

Eh, sort of, MMoore has feasted on the weak sister Defenses, against Dallas and the Jest, he was not quite so good, ditto the eagles

That OL is just so crappy they were living in the backfield.

 

Im not sure he could be great but he has improved quite a bit from earlier this year to now.

I think Moore can be good QB... Elite... I don't know, really can't read the future, just by looking at that 6th round guy that NE picked up in 2000...

He still does not seem to have a good feel in the pocket, specially when he has rushers within a few feet... He is so focused down the field that at times he does not see it comming...

It seems that you will always have that issue with him...

 

Well considering our options for drafting a QB have dried up, I think we stick with Moore unless the management can trade up to get Luck. I will take Moore over Weeden and Landry. Moore still has frustratingly missed some easy throws, and I really doubt he'll ever be elite, but he can be a better version of Jake Delhomme, especially if we improve our O-line

 

Moore is a serviceable quarterback. We haven't had one of those since Pennington.

 

I think the question with Moore is not what his ceiling is, but whether or not he's reached that ceiling. That's what we really have to figure out with this kid. I know that he had some bad luck with injuries and other team injuries during his stretch in Carolina, but Foxy hung his hat on the kid and look what happened there. He just didn't come thru for whatever reasons... I mean the same can be said for Henne here, this year particularly. He had an injury and didn't come thru, although he was looking to be a lot better than the previous year, all without the benefit of an offseason. At least Moore has had the entire preseason and 4 games into the season to 'get ready' with this offense. You say that he's gonna help our team one way or the other, but that's exactly how he was viewed in Carolina a couple of seasons ago...

 

I'm sorry, but he wasnt fine against Dallas. His touchdown pass was a terrible pass to top it off.

 

I would love to see Moore as the answer to the problem the Dolphins have had at the QB position for the last decade. Unfortunately Moore has not yet showed he is capable of playing effectively against the better teams in the NFL. The Patriots don't have a very good defense, so Moore and the offense should be able to move the ball against them. Next week against the Jets, Moore will get a chance to show what he can do against a quality defense.

If the Dolphins win the next two games and Moore plays as well as he has against the weaker teams on the Dolphins schedule, I might be willing to buy into the idea that Moore may be better than I think he really is.
Right now though, I am still hoping the Dolphins make the blockbuster trade needed to trade up in the draft for Luck or RG111.

I'd love to have seen what he can do if he had more time, but still, when he has time he has done much better then anyone could have expected. I watched him play in Carolina, both his good and poor yrs, and he's playing better with us imo.

Thing is, I expected him to be more accurate on the underneath stuff, and not so much on the deep stuff, he's actually flipped that this yr.

If the name on the back of Moore's jersey said "Henne", we would probably all be giddy about the progress being made and QB in the draft wouldn't be priority #1.

 

The stats aren't right. He hasn't had that high a rating over 23 games, that's all he's played in his career and his career rating is lower than that.

Regardless, it doesn't really matter. There's not a whole lot Matt Moore can do besides enter this draft and cost a lot more money than he did to acquire.

 

Matt Moore is doing a fine job and just shows you what this offense was capable of.

I think the stats are very close to right. Matt Moore has played in 33 games in his career, but only 23 have been starts.

I just went through all the box scores for games he has started and I got the following numbers:
Comp: 357
Att: 595
Comp %: 60
Yds: 4200
Y/A: 7.06
TD: 28
INT: 16
Passer Rating: 85.98

If someone wants to double check my numbers, feel free. It's possible I made a mistake, but even if I did, I don't think it would alter his passer rating too greatly.

Now his career passer rating isn't as high as 86, but as a starter it is indeed close to what DJ says KB21 said.

 

Probably doesn't matter to you, but since Matt Moore became the starter (after week 4) we're tied for 18th in pts scored, and only 4 pts behind 16th place.

 

I'll say this much, if a push becomes a shove, we're a lot better off going into next season with Matt Moore instead of Chad Henne.

 

With 2 games to go and a HC who was involved in the offense who was fired.

Wow...with such an amazing QB hard to believe we are 5-7 with Matt Moore as the QB.

So the Dolphins are the only team in the NFL that plays those teams?

 

I've been waiting for someone to pose that question. The great ones have to play those same teams as well.

 

The numbers seem to bear this out. His sack % is worse than Henne's was. And Henne wasn't exactly known for his pocket awareness. Their numbers from this season overall are pretty similar. The one thing Moore does better than Henne is throw TDs and not throw INTs. Though the consistency in INT% isn't very strong from year to year. In fact, their INT% for their career's are virtually identical, and Henne has more attempts.

That's actually surprising to me because Moore seems a little better just judging from my eyeball test. I think Moore is the better deep passer. But Henne makes up for it a bit by being better short and intermediate.

 

Do fumbles factor into the QBR?

 

Nope. Passer Rating is only affected by what happens when the ball is out of a hand moving forward.

 

Keep in mind though, the OL is on pace to at least tie the franchise record for sacks allowed, I think they are 3 sacks allowed away from being as poor as our 1969 team in that regard.

Difference between Henne and Moore is simpl Henne is more reluctant to make high risk throws.

Which is different from going deep down the field, as Henne had begun taking shots down the field, but the TD throw to Bess where Moore pretty much tossed it up for Bess to go get?

Not a chance in hell Chad Henne makes that throw...not going to happen.

 

Also played on a 2-14 panthers team, and a 6-10 at best dolphins team who allowed the #2nd most sacks in the NFL.

Think that has an effect on those stats?
