There's a whole lot more there, it's all grossly unprofessional and bitter. At the end of the day though, I think they most certainly need to be paying Soliai like a rotational player or letting him walk. A two-down Nose Tackle needs to be pretty dominant to justify a big price, and that hasn't been Soliai since his breakout year. They will hopefully focus on finding a guy who can do the job as well and rush the passer.

Lol Canter wants Ireland out...nobody likes that guy.

RT @IamJClary: @davidcanter Not all deals get done while player still in contract, perhaps patience is a virtue.

Gotta love agents. He is in a pretty safe spot in that Soliai is going to get paid, regardless. Nonetheless, it would be sweet to see Ireland go all Ned Colletti on Canter and just completely freeze him and all of his clients out, going forward.

I hope for David and Paul's sake that he has a great, non-injured year. Otherwise, this will come back to bite him.

I dont see any way that we sign both Starks and Soliai after the season. Odrick takes one spot, and we resign at most one of them, but maybe let both walk if their cash dreams are too big.

I think it will be, and probably should be both. They're pretty good players who look dominant at times, and they're both in a position to make more money than they are worth on the open market.

Good, We don't need soliai. We need Randy Starks more, but were apparently lowballing him too. Hopefully well get something done next off-season.

Soliai should find a better agent. Canter is pretty unprofessional doing what he does on twitter.

I don't see why you should hate them, their job is a bit opposed to your interests as a fan, but they're also paid to do a legitimate service for a player.

Players started using agents because teams would not negotiate with them in good faith and fairly otherwise.

I just don't have much respect for them. They have too much say and power regarding a players career. My opinion of them goes way back. Just look at the Elway 83 fiasco. Marvin Demoff threw in that Baseball crud. That's what Agents do imo. They play the game. They rock the boat because they can. It is what it is but i just think agents are there for one reason. $$$ Just my take.

They aren't operating contrary to their clients wishes, and part of their job is to take the public relations heat for the player.

Of course an agent wants something to change when a team is leaving $20M in their pockets that could be going to players.

trying to read thru all Canter's tweets... he seems to be holding the Sean Smith (he is Sean's agent too) contract negotiations against the team. He's doing Soliai a disservice if he doesn't separate the two players.

That's the problem with them, and the main reason I can't stomach them, is their never-ending conceit and sense of entitlement. Yes, they're a necessary evil to keep the NFL and their franchises from sticking it to the players on sh***y contracts/deals, but when they try to act like they believe they're a bona-fide celebrity themselves, they can suck it. High paid leech this guy.

I don't mind Canter's feelings about how we negotiate contracts with his players or wants to maximize every penny he can for his players. I don't care that that he hates us and will do everything in his power to take his clients elsewhere. What does piss me off is that he is doing it in public. If the team isn't making snarky comments in the press or on twitter, then it should be frowned upon by all agencies. Outside of that, Canter can go after all the money he feels his player deserve ... even if it is an absurd amount.

I don't think they're going to get a lot of information from a defensive linemen, much less someone who only seems to play 1-technique. We're also pretty far out from playing them.

Do you suggest players negotiate deals by themselves then?

They make a percentage of what they get for the clients. Their interests are [usually] aligned with the players. Without them, owners and GMs would be bending the players over and having them grab their own ankles.

Players would be at a tremendous disadvantage negotiating terms and understanding terms of agreements with entities that have teams of lawyers and beyond. The agent just doesn't work on your deal with the team, but your other endorsements and career development. Your agent shops you and advocates for you when you need a job. It's extremely difficulty to be your own representation and stay in peak physical shape and maintain the focus you need to be at your best.

well, you have to ask yourself this question. How did the media come to know (and report) that we have contract offers out to both Soliai and Starks? The agents didn't tell them this. The players didn't tell them this. The coaches wouldn't dare tell them this. You get where this is going?

Unless I missed an anonymous quote from a team official somewhere, there hasn't been any indication it was from the Fins. So any inference by we readers is only speculation. There is as good a chance this "leak" to the media was generated from the same agent ranting on twitter as it was from us.

Quick Fins note during UM-UF break:@ArmandoSalguero and I confirmed that Fins have made offers to 2014 FAs Soliai and Starks....

Trust me, if Salguero is reporting this, he's getting the information from the team directly. Salguero is a known Ireland mouthpiece. The fact that they confirmed this during the UM/Florida game obviously places it after Canter went off on twitter this morning. So the team is responding to the agent. They were not putting the information out there beforehand. This is Ireland saying, "Canter, if you want to **** with me, I'll **** with you back"... ahhh... contract negotiations. Such a lovely and festive thing.
